The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 40: Chapter 040: Another Scammer (End)

”He Tiantian, how do you and Seo Xiulan—oh, your real mother, get along?”

Zhou Zixuan found the school where He Tiantian was and expressed her troubles, ”Our situations should be the same, but, but my mom and I just never get along as harmoniously as you and your real mom!”

He Tiantian: ...

She never thought that one day she would become ”friends” with Zhou Zixuan.

Not friends in the traditional sense, but more, more like a pair of frenemies who didn’t like each other but still confided in each other when they had troubles.

Originally, He Tiantian didn’t want to have any interactions with Zhou Zixuan, she was not the original protagonist and she wasn’t going to continue the plot of a malicious villain, trying to steal someone else’s real parents and wealth.

And Zhou Zixuan was from another world, not the original Zhou Zixuan, so even if He Tiantian wanted to make amends, she couldn’t make up for things with the current Zhou Zixuan.

So, He Tiantian felt that she and Zhou Zixuan should not have any dealings.

They should live their own lives; she wouldn’t compete with Zhou Zixuan, nor scheme or target her.

But, if Zhou Zixuan still wallowed in hatred and wanted to take revenge on He Tiantian, He Tiantian wouldn’t just stand there and take it.

He Tiantian’s biggest hope was not to end up opposed to Zhou Zixuan.

Yet, He Tiantian had never anticipated such a curious development in their relationship.

Speaking of which, after the college entrance examination this year, He Tiantian successfully got into a university in the Capital City.

However, this time He Tiantian didn’t follow the suggestions of Seo Xiulan and other family members to go to medical school; instead, she was admitted to the Capital City Foreign Studies University.

Because for He Tiantian, in the previous world, she had already studied medicine once and didn’t need to do it again.

He Tiantian could have a different life in each world; she hoped that in each one, she’d try something new.

And these things she acquired through her own efforts entirely belonged to her.

Even if she returned to the real world, the knowledge she acquired in those book-worlds would stay in her mind.

This, just as Student Xiao D said, was the biggest benefit given to her by time-traveling through book worlds.

Seo Xiulan didn’t understand what a Foreign Studies University was; she just thought since He Tiantian had already become a doctor and had the chance to attend university, she should continue to advance her studies.

After graduating from university, she could be directly placed in a major hospital, and perhaps she could even stay in the Capital City.

Being a doctor in a major hospital was far better than being a barefoot doctor in a health clinic.

However, after spending a few months with He Tiantian, Seo Xiulan had come to understand her biological daughter, knowing her to be a person with her own opinions.

Especially since the He family needed He Tiantian’s support, Seo Xiulan couldn’t really act authoritative in front of He Tiantian.

Besides, the idea that He Tiantian spoke of was something Seo Xiulan greatly admired: ”After studying at a Foreign Studies University, perhaps I could even become a diplomat!”

A diplomat?

Is that, is that like the important people like Premier Zhou shown in the movies?!

Oh my, if she really became a diplomat, that would truly bring honor to the family.

Doctors or whatever, couldn’t compare to a diplomat.

The former is just a profession, while the latter is a leadership role in officialdom!

He Tiantian saw the excited expressions of Seo Xiulan and He Dazhuang, the couple, and she knew they had misunderstood.

However, He Tiantian didn’t correct them because she had deliberately mentioned ”diplomat” to persuade her parents to let her study foreign languages.

If it helped achieve her goal, some misunderstandings—those were beautiful misunderstandings, just like a white lie.

Of course, even without saying things that could cause misunderstandings, Seo Xiulan couldn’t force He Tiantian to study at medical school.

But, family members should keep a distance, yet when it was time to consider each other’s feelings, they should.

He Tiantian, Seo Xiulan, and her relationship with the Zhou Chuanguo couple were close and harmonious without making each other feel uncomfortable, precisely because she adhered to these principles.

After arriving at the Capital City Foreign Studies University, when He Tiantian was having a good time with her roommates and classmates, Zhou Zixuan asked to come and visit.

The first meeting did not go smoothly.

Zhou Zixuan pouted, her delicate little face full of ”I didn’t want to come, my mom forced me to” implications.

Zhou Zixuan came with an attitude, and He Tiantian wasn’t going to indulge her.

Jokingly, He Tiantian didn’t even spoil her real mother;

how could she possibly spoil a ”nemesis” she didn’t want to deal with?

Since both parties were unfriendly, the outcome was naturally an unhappy separation.

He Tiantian thought that with such a bad start, Zhou Zixuan would no longer appear in her life.

Unexpectedly, just a week had passed and Zhou Zixuan came looking for her again.

This time, Zhou Zixuan didn’t show such obvious rejection, but she wasn’t very enthusiastic or proactive either.

She irritably handed He Tiantian a bankbook, ”Take it back! Humph, only you are so calculating. It wasn’t your fault that the babies were switched at birth, yet you orchestrated this drama, and now my parents don’t even blame Seo Xiulan!”

She even helped the He Family gain many benefits.

It was tolerable that He Tiantian worked at the health clinic, but even He Jiabao, that simpleton, had gone to a night school for hospital staff in the Provincial City with the help of Zhou Chuanguo.

As long as He Jiabao could graduate smoothly, he could work as a temporary worker in the hospital, and perhaps even become a proper doctor.

These benefits were far more valuable than the little over one hundred yuan He Tiantian had sent her.

Repeatedly, Zhou Chuanguo praised He Tiantian to Feng Mingjie, saying she was benevolent, cherished old relations, and had good conduct and a kind heart!

With a daughter like He Tiantian, who was so willing to ”atone” for her real mother, Zhou Zixuan’s every slight complaint about the He Family, or any grievances shared with her parents, would prompt a look of indescribable expressions from the Zhou couple.

Although they restrained themselves, Zhou Zixuan, being a clever child, quickly perceived the concealed emotions.

Zhou Zixuan felt incredibly wronged; she had been mistakenly switched at birth and grew up in the countryside despite being a pampered city girl from a family of workers.

She suffered abuse for over a decade, nearly lost her chance at education, and almost got impersonated...

After enduring so much hardship and barely recognizing her real parents, her parents, well, at least they hadn’t continued favoring He Tiantian.

Yet, they still pardoned the main culprit, Seo Xiulan, for He Tiantian’s sake, and even provided many benefits to the He Family.

Didn’t they realize that by doing so, they were hurting her, their birth daughter?

When Zhou Zixuan had emotional moments, it inevitably showed during interactions with her parents.

Moreover, because of the impersonation issue, Zhou Chuanguo already felt that Zhou Zixuan lacked a broad perspective compared to He Tiantian.

Whenever Zhou Zixuan lost her temper, Zhou Chuanguo increasingly felt that his birth daughter was less sensible than the foster daughter.

Fortunately, Zhou Zixuan went to university and spent very little time with her parents.

Otherwise, her relationship with the Zhou Family would have worsened even more.

Despite this, Zhou Zixuan still felt profound pain.

Whenever the family managed to write a letter, a third of its content concerned He Tiantian, which only added to Zhou Zixuan’s resentment.

Of course, Zhou Zixuan wasn’t a fool incapable of reflection.

After calming down and thinking carefully, she recognized He Tiantian’s clever approach:

Retreat as a strategy and win over hearts; by taking the initiative with an ”I am wrong, I will compensate” attitude, it made it difficult for Zhou Chuanguo’s side to hold onto their grievances.

Otherwise, it would be considered relentless and denying someone the chance to repent!

Realizing this, Zhou Zixuan didn’t hesitate, and threw back all the money He Tiantian had sent her in the past few months.

However, with this interaction, Zhou Zixuan seemed to develop a great interest in He Tiantian.

She began to study her every word and action, analyzing how she interacted with others.

Then, Zhou Zixuan felt even more tragic when she realized that He Tiantian maintained good relationships with both her birth and foster parents.

Staying close without being controlled by them, keeping an appropriate distance yet preserving family harmony.

Zhou Zixuan found it amazing; she had been very attentive in managing her relationship with the Zhou couple, yet it still ended up a mess.

As for her relationship with her foster mother, Seo Xiulan, that was even less worth mentioning.

After much thought, Zhou Zixuan couldn’t find a better way to handle things, so she directly approached He Tiantian...
