The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 43: Chapter 043 Collecting Debt

”They don’t love me, that’s their issue.”

Having experienced two book worlds, He Tiantian had become strong-hearted and was not affected by He Shengnan’s malice.

She said calmly, ”Even if they don’t love me, they still have to fulfill their duties of upbringing, otherwise it’s illegal!”

”Aunt, as I said earlier, I won’t go to the Provincial City, I’ll stay in the County until I graduate from high school!”

At this point, He Tiantian purposefully glanced at the nearly tidy house, ”I’ve grown accustomed to living in this house, and I want to continue living here!”

He Shengnan’s eyes widened, as if she heard something absurd and ridiculous, ”You want to continue living? Ha! He Tiantian, who do you think you are?”

He Shengnan gestured around with her hand, ”I bought this house, and the property deed is in my name, He Shengnan. Not to mention a mere child like you, even your dad and granny don’t have the right to call the shots!”

He Shengnan was a victim of preferring sons to daughters; she resented her parents’ partiality, and also blamed herself for not being born a man.

Later on, after she got married, her in-laws drove her out because she couldn’t have children, and her personality became even more twisted.

She highly valued money, feeling that she couldn’t rely on anyone else, only holding onto what was in her hands as her own.

So, while looking after her brother’s child, He Shengnan did not miss a chance to ask her brother and sister-in-law for money.

Her parents were very dissatisfied with this, thinking that He Shengnan, as the older sister, lacked any sense of responsibility.

Taking care of her own brother’s child, she wasn’t short of food or clothing, so why ask her brother for money?

Grandpa He and Granny He felt they had already been very generous by not asking He Shengnan to take care of He Shengli, and yet He Shengnan still wanted more!

Truly a filial daughter, unaware, without any sibling love.

The He family elders disliked He Shengnan for not acting like a good sister, yet He Shengnan also blamed her parents for favoring males.

She increasingly guarded her possessions tightly, fearing her parents would come out and help her brother scheme against her.

Now, she had finally outlived her husband’s plain wife and was about to get married soon, planning to liquidate all the properties in the County before their marriage registration!

These were all her pre-marital assets, her dowry.

He Shengnan was very decisive; she guarded against her parents, her brother, and her future husband—who could be taken advantage of by a mere niece?

”I’m not trying to control you; I’m just fighting for my rights!”

”I’ll say it again, I’m not yet eighteen, whether it’s my foster mother or biological parents, they all have an obligation to provide for me!”

”If you don’t fulfill this responsibility, I can go to court and sue!”

”And, there’s also the TV station—this kind of family conflict, our local station probably loves reporting it!”

He Tiantian posed like a shameless scammer, giving He Shengnan a problematic feeling.

Of course, she wasn’t afraid of being sued or appearing on TV.

If she cared about saving face, she wouldn’t have become a mistress back then.

But He Shengli and the He family were afraid.

He Shengli was the first college graduate and the first public official in their village.

Though just a minor clerk, he was already a significant figure in his hometown.

Saying he was ”the hope of the entire village” wasn’t an exaggeration.

Although He Shengnan hated her parent’s bias and was jealous of her brother’s favoritism, deep down, she was still poisoned by the idea of preferring sons to daughters.

She felt that her parental home and brother were her support, her backbone.

She could marry her old lover and move to the city, but she didn’t want to cut ties with her family.

However, if Tiantian caused trouble because of her, affecting the jobs of He Shengli and his wife, not to mention Grandpa and Granny He, even relatives in her hometown wouldn’t let her off easily!

Being despised and even expelled by her own family was something He Shengnan absolutely couldn’t bear.

”You, you wretched girl, you’ve grown bold, huh? Daring to threaten me?” He Shengnan feared inside, but her mouth kept cursing.

She was testing.

”Whether it’s a threat or not, Auntie, just wait and see!” Tiantian wasn’t afraid of her testing, she casually replied.

People, as long as you show a ”do-or-die” attitude first, the other party usually backs down.

”Tiantian, I’m your real aunt, you know. From your childhood, I’ve fed you spoon by spoon. Raising a child is not easy, you’ll understand —” how hard it is when you become a mother.

Tiantian didn’t respond, just casually looked at He Shengnan.

He Shengnan herself found it hard to continue, as seeing Tiantian’s look, she was reminded of the words: ”My parents gave you money!”

... Damn, when did this girl become so eloquent and tough to deal with?

”What on earth do you want? Tiantian, your Aunt has struggled most of her life, and now that she finally found happiness, instead of wishing her well, why are you —” holding her back?

Wouldn’t it be better to quietly go back to the Provincial City and find your real parents?

Why insist on staying in this small, broken County?

”Auntie, I do wish you happiness. I hope you and your lover live happily ever after!”

It’s just a nice thing to say, Tiantian didn’t refuse.

But the debt owed, she still intended to collect, ”Auntie, I can’t bear to leave our home. You go to the city to get married, and I will stay here. It’s fine by myself!”

... He Shengnan finally saw the light, her unfortunate niece indeed wouldn’t be satisfied until she got a pound of flesh from her.

He Shengnan finally understood her brother’s feelings: to avoid trouble, just pay the money!

Biting her teeth, He Shengnan said, ”Ten thousand yuan, I’ll give you the ten thousand yuan your dad gave me!”

Although ten thousand yuan now was nothing compared to what it was back then, for He Shengnan, who valued money above all else, it was indeed a significant amount to give away.

”Alright then!” Tiantian knew her aunt well, recognizing that ten thousand yuan was the limit.

Actually, Tiantian didn’t just want the money; she wanted justice for her dark childhood.

Not just from He Shengnan but also from He Shengli and his wife.

”... Did Auntie and the others tell you? I don’t want to go to the Provincial City, I want to stay in the County to finish high school!”

Tiantian took the ten thousand yuan from He Shengnan, opened her own account, and deposited the money.

Then, she obtained the contact information of her biological parents and straightforwardly said on the call, ”You are my real parents. Under the law, you have an obligation to provide for me until I turn eighteen!”

”I looked it up, your combined monthly income is thirteen thousand, and the law requires you to give me 20% of it as child support.”

”Pay me 2600 yuan every month until I turn eighteen. Otherwise, I’ll take you to court and sue you for abandonment!”

Upon hearing this, He Shengli’s hands trembled while holding his phone.

What kind of disrespectful and unfilial thing is this?

To outright threaten to sue your own parents?

Doesn’t she know gratitude, doesn’t she understand what filial piety means?!
