The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 28: Chapter 028 It’s another scammer (Part 7)

The same incident, when confessed by the perpetrator themselves, creates one effect;

while the effect is different when the victim brings forth the accusation.

People show great tolerance when the perpetrator can ”repent in time.”

For instance, the incident where Seo Xiulan deliberately switched the children and then colluded with He Tiantian to assume a false identity—if it was Zhou Zixuan, the victim, who made the accusation.

Zhou Chuanguo and Feng Mingjie would be shocked, and their anger towards Seo Xiulan and He Tiantian, their heartache and guilt towards their biological daughter, et cetera, would all reach a climax.

And when people are in extreme anger, it’s difficult to remain rational, and they might do something drastic.

Now, He Tiantian, as one of the culprits, got ahead of Zhou Zixuan and voluntarily confessed everything.

In meticulous detail, objectively and truthfully, without a single word of defense for herself or Seo Xiulan.

Zhou Chuanguo and his wife would still be overwhelmed with shock, but not to the point of breaking their thresholds.

Among the two, the relatively more rational Zhou Chuanguo might even assume some additional details.

He Tiantian was not a worm in Zhou Chuanguo’s stomach; she couldn’t know what he was thinking.

But, based on the original owner’s memories of Zhou Chuanguo’s various words and deeds, as well as her understanding of human nature (especially that of men), she could roughly guess.

Apart from being shocked and enraged, Zhou Chuanguo would weigh the pros and cons of the whole incident.

He wouldn’t act on impulse, but would deal with the situation from perspectives of interest and reality, choosing a way that benefited his family the most, even if that solution might mean his biological daughter gets wronged.

Moreover, the point in time to which He Tiantian had crossed over wasn’t too late.

He Tiantian hadn’t reported to university yet, and Seo Xiulan also hadn’t managed to sell Zhou Zixuan off—err, I mean, marry her off.

So, there was still a possibility for whitewashing the situation.

Not to mention anything else, just the fact that Zhou Zixuan could take the college entrance exam was indicative of something.

In the future, when the whole truth came out, if Zhou Zixuan cried about the abuse or hinted at the He Family’s mistreatment, Seo Xiulan could proudly say, ”Abuse? Have you ever seen a family that abuses their foster daughter, yet still allows her to go to school and take the college entrance exam?”

”Humph, there are so many girls in our village who have never attended school even for a day, and those are their own biological children!”

Perhaps, in the matter of Zhou Zixuan going to school, there were many hidden issues. For example, it might have been through her own struggle, earning her own tuition, that she could barely manage to get the opportunity to study.

If Zhou Zixuan herself had come forward to cry out about the whole incident, she could explain all this in detail.

Zhou Chuanguo and Feng Mingjie would become even more furious, piling on both the new grudges and the old, wishing they could personally tear apart Seo Xiulan, the chief culprit.

However, it was precisely He Tiantian who took the lead and allowed Zhou Chuanguo to come up with his own conclusions about some matters.

Having already formed a preconception, even if Zhou Zixuan were to speak of the hardships faced from Seo Xiulan’s hands (even if it were the truth), Zhou Chuanguo wouldn’t feel too much pity for Zhou Zixuan, instead, he would think that this child was too cold-hearted, somewhat ungrateful!

Because the fact was right there: regardless of what specifically Seo Xiulan had done to Zhou Zixuan over the past decade or so, just the point of Zhou Zixuan having attended middle school and having the opportunity to take the college entrance exam, could negate everything!

”Tiantian, you, you really seem like a villain’s female supporting character!”

Student Xiao D could sense He Tiantian’s thought process and suddenly said in a faint voice.

He Tiantian: ...

You’re the villain!

Your whole family are villains!

”What I’m doing, it’s not about wanting to hurt anyone; it’s about saving myself!”

He Tiantian took a deep breath, feeling it necessary to make clear to her own idiot—oh no, to her smart assistant.

”Zhou Zixuan is a book-crosser; she’s familiar with the plot and harbors full resentment towards me and my real mother, Seo Xiulan;”

”The Zhou Family might not be a wealthy family, but in the Provincial City, they still have some influence. Not to mention anything else, cleaning up an ordinary rural household like the He Family would be very easy for them!”

He Tiantian knew that Seo Xiulan and the original owner both made mistakes, but the problem was, Zhou Zixuan was not the original ”He Zixuan.”

He Tiantian wanted to compensate, but it seemed there was no appropriate object for her remorse!

The best solution she could think of was to ensure that even if the two families couldn’t live in peace, they would not harbor hatred for each other.

As for the He Family, they should try to compensate the Zhou Family as much as possible.

The Zhou Family, after all, shouldn’t tar the He Family with the same brush!

”... Although I always feel that something is off, what you’re saying seems to make some sense!”

Student Xiao D fell silent for a moment before hesitantly speaking up.

Of course, there was a problem, ”He Zixuan” might be gone, but Seo Xiulan’s wrongdoings shouldn’t be simply erased.

And based on the law that evil begets evil, Seo Xiulan would inevitably face a tragic end.

It would be best if she could be sent to prison, or abandoned by everyone and die in the streets!

But then, He Tiantian crossed over.

Her situation was different from Zhou Zixuan’s. Zhou Zixuan was a book-crosser, not the same person as He Zixuan.

But as for He Tiantian, thanks to the Zhou Zixuan who despised her own self, the ”He Tiantian” in the book was modeled after the real-life He Tiantian.

It could be said that He Tiantian was in fact the ”He Tiantian” from the book; they were originally the same person.

Perhaps right after crossing over, He Tiantian might have felt a bit out of place.

But after a thorough integration, He Tiantian could affirm that this was her.

Perhaps it could be considered her parallel universe self!

Since she was He Tiantian, Seo Xiulan was her real mother in this world.

Besides, in the matter of switching children, whether He Tiantian herself wanted it or not, she did indeed benefit from the whole process!

From a child of a poor farming family, she transformed into the cherished daughter of a city’s working parents.

What would have been a life of chaff and patch upon patch on her clothes, turned out to be milk powder drinks and snacks, with all kinds of new clothes and shoes, even stuffed toys and dolls, thanks to becoming part of the Zhou Family!

Furthermore, the kind of confidence and broad vision peculiar to urban working families was beyond monetary value!

It was a leap across social strata.

And all of this, everything, was brought to He Tiantian by Seo Xiulan.

Therefore, even if the whole world condemned, shunned, or even cursed Seo Xiulan, He Tiantian could not.

”She indeed is top-grade and has made mistakes, but to me, her daughter, she is a good mother!”

He Tiantian knew that her values were somewhat at risk.

But that is human nature, after all, because the human heart is biased by default.

Those who choose justice over family, even to the extent of severing ties with their kin, are still in the minority.

”Of course, I will make amends for the mistakes she has made,” thought He Tiantian to herself.

However, the most important thing at the moment was to try to reduce the Zhou Family’s hatred towards the He Family as much as possible.

Having successfully captured the change in Zhou Chuanguo’s eyes, He Tiantian knew that her plan had already succeeded by more than half.

He Tiantian breathed a sigh of relief and continued her act, ”Dad, Mom, I—I really know I was wrong! I am so sorry, truly sorry!”

Zhou Chuanguo didn’t know He Tiantian’s schemes; seeing her sincere words made his heart soften a bit.

He tapped the table with his finger where the money and bills lay, ”So, you snuck back home, and while we were not there, you left the money and bills, planning to leave on your own?”

”...” He Tiantian felt a sting in her nose and tears began to roll down.

She hurriedly wiped them away with the back of her hand and said with a thick nasal voice, ”Yes, I—I am not really a child of the Zhou Family. I’m so useless, I couldn’t even pass the college entrance exams, I—I—”

”Zixuan still doesn’t know she’s been accepted to college, I—I wanted to deliver her the admission letter personally and apologize properly!”

”We should go our separate ways and completely redress the wrong... It’s just, I—I had just left the house when I ran into you guys, I—I—”

Suddenly, Zhou Chuanguo remembered, when he and his spouse entered, and how seeing them, He Tiantian did seem panicked, ashamed, and even tried to flee.

Ah, this child, although confused for a moment, still had a good nature deep down.

It seems that their parenting was not a complete failure; the child they raised still had her commendable qualities...
