The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 42: Chapter 042 Malice

He Tiantian slowly sat up in bed, still appearing somewhat dazed.

Indeed, after spending ten years in the world of the book, her emotions might have been stripped away, but the memories were still very clear.

She hadn’t quite reacted yet.

Returning to her room in reality, she also felt a sense of familiarity mixed with strangeness.

It was like being in a different world!

”Bang! Bang bang!”

The jarring sound of pounding on the door grew louder, and He Tiantian gradually remembered what had happened before she left to complete her mission—

She had just returned home from school when her aunt and foster mother, He Shengnan, seemed anxious to pack her off and send her away.

She even gave her an address, telling her to go to the Provincial City by herself to find her real parents.

He Tiantian didn’t feel sad, lost, or worried about her future; instead, she replied very calmly—

”I don’t want to go to the Provincial City. I want to finish middle school here!”

”It doesn’t matter whose name is on my household registration. I’m not yet eighteen, and both foster mother and real parents have a duty to provide for me. If they fail to do so, I can sue them in court!”

Mmhmm, the person outside was banging on the door so forcefully and endlessly calling her ”ungrateful” in their shouts.

It was probably provoked by what He Tiantian had said.

Indeed, in the eyes of the elders, their children are their private property. They feel entitled to arrange and dispose of them as they wish.

If the children show even the slightest resistance, they’re considered unfilial and heartless little beasts!

He Tiantian sat on the edge of the bed, took a few deep breaths, calmed herself, and fully detached from the world of the book to truly return to reality.

She stood up, walked a few steps to the door, and opened it right before He Shengnan, who appeared to be on the verge of a rage, could kick it down.

He Tiantian opened the door so quickly, and He Shengnan, coincidentally in the midst of making a kicking gesture, unable to stop the motion due to inertia, took a ”big step” straight into the room.

Fortunately, although He Shengnan was in her forties, she danced regularly in the square and was fairly agile, realizing she was losing control, she waved her arms frantically trying to find her balance.

She managed to grab onto the door, which stopped her from doing a full split.

Still, such a difficult move pulled a muscle in the inner side of her thigh.

He Shengnan hissed in pain, gripping the door tightly, and carefully shifted her body little by little.

She barely changed from the big striding posture to a stance with her legs together.

After uprighting herself, He Shengnan quickly bent down and began to knead her stiff thigh, groaning in pain. It really fucking hurt!

”You damn child, trying to kill me, eh?”

Having endured such an incident for no reason, He Shengnan’s already fiery temper flared up even more.

She angrily yelled at He Tiantian, ”What are you standing there stupidly for? Why aren’t you coming over to help me up!?”

”Hmph, you ungrateful little thing, I brought you up from diapers...”

It was another long litany of grievances and self-praise that He Tiantian had heard for over a decade.

In the past, if she had heard her aunt say such things, she would have felt very ashamed, self-blame, thinking that she really wasn’t good enough and shouldn’t treat her aunt and foster mother this way.

But now, having played the role of the ”villain” twice in the world of the book, it seemed He Tiantian had also become selfish and malicious.

She directly interrupted He Shengnan’s words, ”My parents gave you money!”

It’s not really powered by love, so why elevate oneself so high?

”...” He Shengnan was immediately choked up, her eyes widened, looking at He Tiantian in disbelief.

Then, as if she had fully digested He Tiantian’s words, she scolded in furious embarrassment, ”What money received? I knew you were an ingrate. You heartless girl, you don’t know how to be grateful—”

”Auntie, when my dad sent me back to my hometown, just to get me registered into your household, he directly gave you ten thousand yuan!”

And in the small county in 2004, a commercial house of more than a hundred square meters only cost thirty-five to fifty thousand yuan.

The apartment He Shengnan now lived in did indeed have money provided by her old lover, but certainly, part of the money to buy the apartment also came from that sum given by He Tiantian’s biological father.

He Shengnan was not the type of Helping-Brother Demon who would sacrifice everything for the sake of her brother.

She might raise her niece under her own name, but she definitely wouldn’t be so foolish as to exert effort and money.

Apart from the initial ten thousand yuan, over the following decade, whenever Tiantian had a headache or fever, or for schooling and exams, He Shengnan was always quick to ask her brother He Shengli for money.

Of course, the cost of living in the county was much lower than in the Provincial City.

The amounts He Shengnan requested were not high either, five hundred or eight hundred, at most not exceeding one thousand. The couple He Shengli, being civil servants, had stable incomes and plenty of benefits, so they didn’t care about these little amounts.

Therefore, they always gave very generously.

He Tiantian carefully calculated and realized that although she lived with He Shengnan, it was actually He Shengli and his wife who were supporting her.

At most, He Shengnan was a relative nanny who was paid to help take care of a child.

It’s just that, she was much more exceptional than a regular nanny. Not only did she not treat He Tiantian like a treasure to be cared for, but she also treated her like a punching bag.

Hitting or scolding often, plus many instances of cold violence.

The once timid and inferior He Tiantian, He Shengnan was absolutely the ”Outstanding Official”!

Moreover, He Shengnan’s actions as a willing mistress also deeply affected He Tiantian.

All this talk of Little Fox Spirits, how the upper beam isn’t right if the lower beam’s crooked, Tiantian still endured the contempt and humiliation brought about by He Shengnan.

Trying to respect He Shengnan as a real elder, haha, truth be told, the now particularly clear-headed He Tiantian found it quite difficult to do.

”You, you—” He Shengnan, not knowing if she was angered or embarrassed by the truth being pointed out, flushed a deep red.

After a long pause, she sneered and said, ”Hmph, He Tiantian, you say ’my parents’ this, ’real mother’ that, do you really think you are a beloved treasure of your parents?”

”Let me tell you, your parents did give me money, but it was not out of concern for you, it was to reduce trouble!”

”If they truly loved you, cherished you, they wouldn’t have dumped you on me in the first place!”

He Shengnan was indeed not a loving elder, because these heart-piercing words were not just blurted out today in a fit of anger by He Tiantian.

From childhood to adulthood, He Shengnan never stopped reminding He Tiantian: ”He Tiantian, don’t make trouble! Your parents don’t want you anymore. If it wasn’t for your auntie’s soft heart, you would’ve been tossed onto the streets to beg!”

To better control a child, He Shengnan spared no effort in using such words to repeatedly hurt and intimidate He Tiantian.

So, it was really difficult for He Tiantian to regard He Shengnan as a close family elder.

”Good, I’m about to leave anyway. You better hurry up and go find your parents. I want to see just how much your real parents cherish their daughter!”

He Shengnan’s eyes flickered with a malicious glee in watching the spectacle, gloating as she spoke.
