Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder

Chapter 120: Chapter 120: Ginseng

Hearing this, Feng He’s eyes widened. She quickly dropped to the ground to get a closer look.

After examining it closely, her eyes widened. ”It really is...” Feng He said in disbelief. Judging by its size, the ginseng had to be quite old.

Ginseng was incredibly potent.

”Sister Lin, you’ve really found a huge treasure.” As she spoke, Feng He was already reaching out to dig. She worked carefully, afraid of damaging the ginseng.

The others gathered around to watch Feng He dig. Mo Xuan found a pair of gloves and handed them to her to keep her from hurting her hands.

They watched for a while before leaving to find the other herbs Feng He needed.

The netizens watched them bustling about, not understanding why they were digging up what looked like useless weeds.

[They were digging yesterday, and they’re digging again today. Are these weeds really that popular?]

[What’s the use of these weeds? Are they edible?]

[Eating a weed? What are you thinking?]

[What do you guys know! Those aren’t weeds they’re digging up, those are medicinal herbs!]

Just then, someone knowledgeable in the field posted a comment to explain.

[It’s an ancient form of medicine. When you don’t have Recovery Potions, this art becomes incredibly useful. It’s been lost to the Empire for ages; only a handful of people know even a little about it.]

[Not only does this girl know it, but she can also identify so many herbs. She’s seriously amazing.]

After reading the explanation, the netizens were full of admiration. Everyone in this cooks’ squad was a prodigy.

The captain could summon animals out of thin air and was a crack shot. The other girl could heal with her spiritual power. They didn’t know what the other three members could do, but they figured they must be powerful too.

Beisang read the comments praising Lin Jingjing’s team, and the corners of her lips curved up. ’Not bad,’ she thought. ’They’re really making the First Corps proud.’

The ginseng was massive, with very long roots. It would take a long time to excavate it intact.

She dug all morning and still hadn’t gotten it out. The others checked the time and saw it was time to start cooking.

The four of them watched her, still on the ground, diligently digging at the ginseng with her bare hands.

After a moment’s thought, one of them said, ”Feng He, you stay here and dig. We’ll go start cooking nearby.”

”Okay—” Feng He agreed. All she wanted right now was to get this huge ginseng out intact.

Without Feng He, the remaining four had to work even faster. There was still a lot to do.

As usual, Lin Jingjing took the lead in cooking while Shi Feng tended the fire. The other two handled the bowls and chopsticks.

Once the food was ready, they didn’t eat immediately. Instead, they covered each portion and stored them in the Space Ring.

Mo Xuan took out their portions and set them down next to Feng He. ”Keep an eye on these,” he said. ”We’re going to deliver the other meals.”

Feng He was so focused on digging that she just mumbled a quick ”uh-huh” in response to Mo Xuan.

Seeing how absorbed she was, Mo Xuan added, ”Oh, and don’t get so into it that you forget to watch out for wild beasts.”

”Got it.” Feng He’s gaze remained fixed on the ginseng root, her movements delicate, terrified of damaging it.

”We’re off,” Mo Xuan said, still feeling uneasy. He kept looking back as he walked away. ”Stay safe.”

”I know!” Feng He’s voice was much louder this time.

The four of them just wanted to deliver the meals quickly and return. This time, when Chen Hao called out to them again, Lin Jingjing and her group didn’t even slow down.

”Captain Lin, I’m sorry—” Chen Hao’s apology rang out from behind them, but Lin Jingjing only hesitated for a moment before continuing forward.

”I’m truly sorry for what happened yesterday and this morning. I am formally apologizing to all of you!” Chen Hao continued to shout at their retreating backs.

Jiang Shuying stood to one side. She looked unhappy about it, but she still yelled after them, ”I’m sorry! I apologize for what happened this morning!”

With both of them shouting apologies, the group would seem too cold-hearted if they didn’t respond at all.

Lin Jingjing turned to face them and replied coldly, ”I heard you.”

”You’re apologizing because you were in the wrong. We have the right not to accept it.”

”Just watch yourselves from now on.” Having said her piece, Lin Jingjing turned and walked away. The other three followed beside her without a word.

Watching them go, Chen Hao sighed. It seemed Captain Lin had no intention of forgiving them.

They worked quickly, and when they returned from their delivery route, they found Feng He still digging away, her rear end sticking up in the air.

’More than two hours have passed. Hasn’t she gotten it out yet?’

”Feng He, still haven’t gotten it out?” Shi Feng asked, walking over and crouching beside her.

”Not yet,” Feng He replied. Her face was smudged and filthy with dirt.

Her clothes were also filthy, making her look like a small child who’d been playing in the mud.

”Feng He, your face is all muddy,” Shi Feng said, pointing to her fair cheek.

At his words, Feng He raised a hand to wipe her face, which only smeared the dirt around more.

”Still dirty,” Shi Feng said.

Feng He waved a hand dismissively. ”Ah, forget it. I’ll wash up after I’m done with this ginseng.”

With that, she resumed digging. Shi Feng, still beside her, asked, ”So, how’s it coming along?”

”Almost there!” Feng He said with a huge grin. The others stood by and watched her work.

When she finally pulled the entire ginseng root from the ground, everyone applauded. ”Amazing! You actually got it out!”

They all showered her with praise, and Feng He beamed.

Even though her face was smudged with dirt, her smile was incredibly sweet.

The sight of her smile sent Mo Xuan’s heart racing. ’Feng He is just too beautiful,’ he thought.

”I got the whole ginseng out, completely intact! And it’s really old, too.” Feng He had Lin Jingjing take out a large box and placed the massive root inside.

Once it was safely packed, Mo Xuan returned carrying a bucket of water. Feng He immediately ran over to wash her hands and face.

Once she was clean, the five of them finally sat down to eat. Lin Jingjing held up her food container and said, ”Things were a bit rushed today, so I kept it simple.”

”It’s fine. It’s not like the others can tell good from bad anyway,” Gu Kaiwen said, unwrapping his chopsticks and digging in.

”So, what’s the plan for this afternoon?” Feng He asked. They had gathered most of the herbs she needed; soon, she’d have to sort and dry them.

”I want to look for ore,” Shi Feng said, raising his hand. ”The Mecha I’m designing needs some.”

”Sounds good,” the others agreed in unison.

For the next few days, they fell into a monotonous, somewhat boring routine.

On the day the first phase was about to end, they saw that all six corps were fighting desperately to qualify for the second phase of the competition.

”Whoa, more fighting,” Shi Feng remarked as they emerged from the woods. Not far ahead, a few people were locked in a chaotic brawl.

Watching the back-and-forth, a battle-hungry light flashed in Gu Kaiwen’s eyes. He rubbed his fists together, itching to jump into the fray.

”Watching them fight makes me want to get in there, too,” Gu Kaiwen murmured, leaning against Mo Xuan.
