Sorry, Our Captain Is a True All-Rounder

Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Parachuting

Back in the kitchen, Lin Jingjing looked at the still-stewing Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, then glanced at the other dish, Braised ”Lion’s Head” Meatballs with Crab Roe.

These were the two dishes they had spent the most time on. They had thought that since the man was Captain Li’s superior, they had to give him their best reception.

But as soon as the man arrived, he’d sentenced Captain Li to the punishment room. Even someone as strong as Captain Li had ended up in that state, which showed just how severe the punishment had been.

Lin Jingjing wasn’t having it. She opened the refrigerator and took out some green vegetables and shrimp.

’I told them there were two dishes left. I’ll just whip up something simple to get it over with.’

A robot was already shelling the shrimp and washing the vegetables.

Lin Jingjing washed a wok, poured in some oil, and started stir-frying the vegetables.

The four of them helped Captain Li up from the ground. Feng He uncapped an Advanced Recovery Agent and carefully poured the red liquid into Captain Li’s mouth.

The moment Captain Li drank the Advanced Recovery Agent, the wounds on his back began to heal.

Unlike ordinary ones, the healing properties of an Advanced Recovery Agent were extremely potent.

Captain Li, who had been deathly pale and on the verge of collapsing, looked completely back to normal after finishing the agent.

”Captain Li, how are you? Are you hurting anywhere?” Shi Feng asked nervously, squatting beside him.

Captain Li waved a hand. After drinking the potion, he felt completely recovered.

”Where did you get an Advanced Recovery Agent?” Captain Li asked, frowning at the empty bottle in Feng He’s hand. ”A single one of these costs 200,000 Star Coins.”

”Someone gave it to us,” Feng He explained.

Captain Li got to his feet with Gu Kaiwen’s help, and Mo Xuan handed him his jacket.

”Thanks.”

After they composed themselves, they left the punishment room. When they got to the kitchen, Lin Jingjing was gone, but the fire on the stove was still on.

”Huh? Didn’t Sister Lin serve these two dishes?” Feng He asked in confusion.

These two dishes were supposed to be the grand finale. He hadn’t expected them to still be here.

”She must have forgotten,” Shi Feng said. The fragrance wafting through the air was making his mouth water.

’I really want to have some.’

After serving the last two dishes, Lin Jingjing made a quick exit. ’Let them eat vegetables.’

Serving them the poached shrimp had already been an act of great mercy on her part.

Back in the kitchen, Lin Jingjing finally breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Captain Li was fully recovered.

”Why weren’t those two dishes sent out?” Gu Kaiwen asked, pointing to the two pots still stewing on the stove.

”I’m not letting them have it. We’re eating it ourselves,” Lin Jingjing huffed. ”It’ll be perfect to help Captain Li recover.”

Their eyes widened at her words, and Shi Feng grinned. ”Alright, we’ll eat it ourselves.”

The group exchanged glances, not having expected Lin Jingjing to do something like this.

Then, Lin Jingjing muttered, ”It serves him right for punishing Captain Li.”

Now everyone understood. A warmth spread through Captain Li’s chest as he listened to her words.

”Thank you,” Captain Li said sincerely.

They didn’t have to cook for the entire mess hall today, so they were all quite idle. They sat at a table in the corner, and the moment the pot lid was lifted, the aroma instantly filled the entire cafeteria.

Anyone nearby could smell it clearly. Their gazes turned toward the group, and they couldn’t help but gulp as they stared at the soup in the clay pot, their mouths watering.

Lin Jingjing ladled out a bowl for Captain Li, then one for everyone else, and they all began to eat.

”You guys are this skilled?” Captain Li’s eyes lit up after his first sip of the soup.

”Oh, we’re just average,” the others replied with exaggerated modesty.

Seeing their show of humility, Captain Li didn’t press the issue and just lowered his head to focus on the food in his bowl.

「The next day.」

Everyone woke up bright and early. As the designated military cooks for the upcoming competition, they were summoned to the assembly.

Since the competition grounds were somewhat dangerous, Beisang stood with a microphone, reciting a long list of rules and safety precautions.

After he finished, the contestants were allowed to choose their equipment.

Meanwhile, the five of them stood before a pile of pots, pans, and utensils, selecting tools suitable for the wilderness. Each person was limited to three items.

Three items each, for a total of fifteen.

”The pot is a priority,” Lin Jingjing said, her hand resting on a large wok. Her gaze then shifted to a box of assorted seasonings on the side. ”We’ll need seasonings, too.”

”Let’s grab a couple of guns. If we run into any dangerous flora or fauna, we’ll be able to handle it.” Mo Xuan had his eye on two laser guns nearby; they were a model he’d never seen before and were likely more powerful.

”Deal,” the others nodded. They would need some firearms going into the forest.

They glanced over the items. Aside from cooking utensils, there was a wide variety of weapons.

They ended up choosing cooking tools for half of their items and weapons for the other half.

After making their selections, they boarded a military transport and departed from the First Corps.

Everyone inside the transport was quiet. The people sitting across from them were all tall and imposing, men and women alike.

Their presence was quite intimidating.

However, as military cooks, they wouldn’t be participating in the combat.

Squad leaders chose their own drop points. Once they reached the central zone, six teams jumped from the transport one after another.

The livestream had begun the moment they boarded the transport, and countless people were watching.

The competition would last for half a month, and during that time, all the top brass would be staying at the First Corps.

Lin Jingjing looked at the marked location on the map. ’We’re almost there.’

”Everyone, get ready,” Lin Jingjing said, standing up. They each had a parachute strapped to their back. The transport’s door was open, and because of their speed, wind continuously rushed in.

They stood at the ship’s door, and the cold wind lashing against their faces actually stung.

Feng He and the others silently put on their goggles to prevent the strong wind from interfering with their landing.

Captain Li sat in his office, his eyes glued to the screen. ’I wonder if those little rascals even know how to use a parachute.’

’Did we teach them that during their special training?’

Captain Li was extremely tense, and he wasn’t the only one; Jiang Lusheng was just as nervous.

They had been taught, but putting it into practice was still difficult.

With their goggles on, the group activated their maps. Instantly, a map display appeared on their white lenses. As long as they followed the route, they wouldn’t get lost.

”I’ll go first. Mo Xuan, you bring up the rear,” Lin Jingjing said to the others. Without another word, she jumped.

One by one, the others followed, with Mo Xuan bringing up the rear.

Seeing them jump with practiced ease, those watching nervously only breathed a sigh of relief once they had all landed safely.

After packing up their parachutes, the group gathered to discuss their plan.

”They only gave us pots and pans; we still have to find our own ingredients.” Lin Jingjing activated her Star Ring and enlarged the map. ”Let’s find a spot to make them lunch first.”

Time was short, and they needed to hunt for game.
