Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 1265: Chapter 80: Old Friends

There are many sculptures in the hall, most of which are completely damaged, leaving only the base below. Only a few are relatively intact.

These are sculptures of previous Annihilators, with their achievements and life recorded below, followed by a message left by the sculptor themselves.

Just as Su Xiao was about to step away, he inadvertently glanced at the face of the sculpture in front of him. His steps halted as the visage of this female annihilator seemed familiar, as if he had seen them somewhere before.

Su Xiao recalled the visage of this female annihilator, and soon, a picture of an ancient castle emerged in his mind. It was the fresco within the treasure house of that castle depicting this very female annihilator.

Remembering those murals, enlightenment dawned on Su Xiao. He recalled who this female annihilator was; she was likely the one who cut Alice from the shadows.

Su Xiao didn’t know much about the feud between the Female Law Annihilator Green Gillian and Alice. He only knew that this female annihilator had once trapped Alice in a cage, and till this day Alice still had shadows, such as the hanging and cages.

As Su Xiao was about to walk away, whether it was an illusion or something else, he felt as though one of the nearby sculptures had moved.

Upon noticing this, Su Xiao immediately drew the long knife at his waist. Though he himself is the Shadow of Annihilation Law, whether the previous Shadows of Annihilation Law had left any mechanisms here was unknown, given their personalities, anything is possible.

The one that moved slightly was the sculpture of Marvin Hwaltz. Out of caution, Su Xiao prepared to slice the sculpture.

As soon as Su Xiao raised his long knife, blue light glowed from the stone eyes within Marvin Hwaltz’s sculpture.

”After all this time, is your way of greeting actually trying to cut me?”

A somewhat familiar voice emanated from within the sculpture. Hearing this voice, Su Xiao couldn’t help but recall several near-death painful experiences.

”Marvin Hwaltz?”

Su Xiao did not lower his guard, ready to shatter the sculpture at any moment.

”Who else would it be? Speaking of which, where is this? It seems somewhat familiar.”

Marvin Hwaltz’s speech wasn’t old-fashioned, almost akin to a modern person’s. After his death, a coincidence turned him into an energy body and coincidentally, reached some sort of deal with Reincarnation Paradise, preserving his consciousness in an energy form while being able to traverse different worlds.

Marvin Hwaltz, unlike Contractors, has no possibility of resurrection or increasing strength. His only capability is merely to keep his consciousness intact.

”This is the World of Xiya.”

”World of Xiya? Even more familiar.’

A blue phantom floated out of the sculpture, large cracks appeared on the stone sculpture, ready to collapse at any moment.

Marvin Hwaltz was merely a humanoid energy form, his face could not be discerned, only visible was a wide-blade long knife at his waist. This long knife is similar to the Dragon Slash growing weapon; presently, this wide-blade long knife is made of energy, the real one long lost.

”I always feel I’ve been here before.”

Marvin Hwaltz truly had a poor memory; he still couldn’t recall what the World of Xiya was, perhaps because the worlds he had been to were too many.

”The world of war between the undead and humans.”

Su Xiao provided a clue; Marvin Hwaltz’s sudden appearance was undoubtedly good news, able to help Su Xiao understand the hall’s situation better.

”Undead... ”

Marvin Hwaltz’s silhouette stroked his chin with one hand, trying to remember.

”Isn’t this the place with someone called... Adelaide? Seems like that guy is quite good at flattery.”

Finally, Marvin Hwaltz remembered where the World of Xiya was. The Adelaide he spoke of had considerable reputation, known as Iron Crown King Adelaide Herbert, the first king of the Holy Sodding Kingdom, informally known as the founding emperor.

”Indeed, this world, have you been here?”

Su Xiao’s eyes seemed to shine, if Marvin Hwaltz had been here before, then things would be easier.

”Haven’t been.”

Marvin Hwaltz’s answer made Bubu Wang beside him perplexed; listening to Marvin Hwaltz’s previous tone, Bubu Wang thought the latter had been to this world.

”I indeed haven’t been to this world, but my friend Akes has been here, how many years ago was that?” Marvin Hwaltz lowered his head to contemplate briefly before shaking his head.

”In any case, I understand a bit about this place, seems that the undead enslaves humans. However, you’re lucky enough to find such a well-preserved heritage site.”

Marvin Hwaltz surveyed the situation within the hall.

”Heritage ruins?”

Su Xiao only knew this place was a ruin. Based on his guess, it was likely a residence or gathering point for the Shadows of Annihilation Law.

”Yes, heritage ruins. Whenever Annihilators reach unknown world areas, they always try to build heritage ruins. These have two purposes: first, to awaken Blue Steel Shadows in humans with potential, thereby becoming Shadows of Annihilation Law; second, to provide guidance for newcomers.”

Marvin Hwaltz looked at Su Xiao and continued, ”Though you’re not a new Annihilator, this isn’t a traditional heritage. Before Akes left this world, he seemed to have modified it to some extent.”

Marvin Hwaltz’s phantom floated upwards, starting to observe the situation in the hall. Marvin Hwaltz’s attitude had been kind all along because, in his view, Su Xiao was one of his own.

As for the ethos of Annihilators, Marvin Hwaltz never mentioned it. The era of Annihilators was over; nearly all Annihilators had perished, whether that spirit lives on, Marvin Hwaltz hesitated.

From his perspective, even if Annihilators protected some planet from collapsing, even then the beings on those planets wouldn’t show a friendly attitude towards Annihilators.

Take the World of Xiya, for example. If the Annihilators hadn’t cut off necromantic spells back then, this world would’ve been torn by chaotic elemental flux years ago.

Today, a millennium later, the Undead Clan still resents Annihilators, and humans’ attitude towards Annihilators remains indifferent.

If in the most glorious period of Shadows of Annihilation Law, Annihilators mainly didn’t care whether others were grateful; what they did wasn’t for gratitude, but because they simply wanted to do so. Because something only Annihilators could see, which by luck demons also saw, hence demons became Annihilators’ allies, and that thing was something spellcasters dared not expose.

Marvin Hwaltz could guess Su Xiao’s current situation; many ancient entities in the void wanted to eliminate Su Xiao, if Su Xiao then made enemies over ’Annihilation Law,’ he’d truly be surrounded by foes, and the legacy of Shadows of Annihilation Law would truly break.

”Do not touch the sculptures here.”

Marvin Hwaltz spoke as he surveyed the sculptures in the hall, as these are evidence of Annihilators’ presence.

”Wait for me here.”

Marvin Hwaltz’s phantom floated towards the depths of the hall, planning to investigate the situation within.

Just after Marvin Hwaltz floated away, Su Xiao received a notification from Reincarnation Paradise.

[Notification: Entered Purgatory Phase.]
