Chapter 1263: Chapter 78: Journey to the Ruins

Dozens of Undead Soldiers’ corpses collapsed to the ground as Su Xiao walked out of the Bear Cave. He had been chased by the Undead Army all this time and had almost been surrounded multiple times.

While being hunted, Su Xiao wasn’t just running for his life; he was also laying out his escape route. Hard fighting the Undead Army head-on had absolutely no benefit. Even though Undead Soldiers had a chance to drop Treasure chests, picking them up on such a chaotic battlefield was completely unrealistic.

Su Xiao had killed a large number of Undead Soldiers, yet he hadn’t gained anything. This kind of meaningless Slaughter, he wasn’t planning to continue.

Piling the corpses into the Bear Cave, Su Xiao started cleaning up the bloodstains around. If he wanted the subsequent plan to succeed, he absolutely couldn’t let the Undead Army pinpoint his exact location.

After tidying up the scene, Su Xiao moved at a quick pace through the Forest. Very soon, he reached a small creek. Around this creek, over a thousand Undead Soldiers had previously been stationed. Su Xiao had used Ring Break over a dozen times in a row to kill all these soldiers, and it was precisely this use of Ring Break that had caused severe loss of Strength in his right arm, forcing him to hide in the Bear Cave.

The corpses by the creek had been neatly stacked into several piles. The Undead Army had passed through here and roughly dealt with the bodies. Compared to burying the corpses, finding Su Xiao was more important to the Undead Army; otherwise, these soldiers would have died in vain.

Su Xiao slid Dragon Slash into its Sheath. Enduring the thick stench of Blood, he burrowed into the corpse pile; very quickly, the lower half of his Body was buried inside.

He took a remote-control device from his Storage Space, pulled out the antenna, and pressed the power button.

Su Xiao slowly shook the remote in his hand. This damned thing actually had no signal. After he slapped it a few times, the green light on the device blinked, but the signal was still awful.

He tried pressing the activation button. A full minute passed, and nothing happened. Su Xiao pressed the button again.

A few seconds later, a signal flare shot into the sky three kilometers away. Before long, an explosion sounded from beneath the signal flare.

Su Xiao tossed the remote device into the creek. The plastic remote was carried away by the current. He then buried his entire Body in the corpse pile and fully retracted his Aura, forcibly suppressing his vital signs.

Thump, thump... thump... thump...

Su Xiao’s heartbeat grew slower and slower. After a while, his heart rate dropped to around five to ten beats per minute, just enough to keep his organs from failing due to lack of oxygen.

Right now, Su Xiao was practically a corpse. The fresh Blood on his Body masked his skin color, not to mention he was hidden in a corpse pile.

A few minutes later, the rumble of marching feet came. A Rapid March unit charged past the corpse pile, with an Undead Commander at the rear, his gaze sweeping over the piles of corpses.

These bodies weren’t stacked randomly, but in a configuration unique to the Undead Clan. This prevented enemy troops from hiding among the corpses.

After briefly examining the corpse piles, the Undead Commander signaled for a dozen Undead Soldiers to make sure these piles were safe.

The dozen or so Undead Soldiers rushed onto the corpse piles. They knew these were their comrades’ remains, but War was the most merciless thing in existence.

They raised the Blades in their hands and began stabbing wildly into the pile. As for checking one by one, there simply wasn’t that much Time.

Inside the corpse pile, Su Xiao compressed his Perception down to half a meter. A strangely-shaped Longsword pierced through the corpses, driving straight for his chest.

His Intuition ability immediately pinpointed the exact trajectory of the thrust. Su Xiao relaxed his Body, and the Longsword sank into his chest, stopping about five centimeters from his heart.

Su Xiao judged that this strike wasn’t fatal, so he deliberately relaxed his Body, reducing his own Muscle Defense.

The Undead Soldier wielding the Longsword frowned. The feedback through his Weapon felt wrong. It seemed he had pierced something Sturdy, but whatever he hit didn’t feel like a living thing. To be safe, he stabbed down again.

This thrust passed through Su Xiao’s armpit and struck the bone of a corpse’s arm.

The Undead Soldier on the corpse pile pulled out his Longsword. His Blood-streaked face showed no grief, only numbness.

The Undead Soldier leaped down from the corpse pile. This heap of corpses showed no Abnormal signs. Before he left, he cut off a lock of his own hair and tossed it onto the bodies, meaning: ”Brothers, I am with you.”

Between the Undead Army and Su Xiao, there was never any right or wrong. They were enemies only because they stood on different sides. Where did right or wrong come into that?

As the Rapid March unit moved farther away, Su Xiao remained still inside the corpse pile. He still had to keep waiting.

A few minutes later, a large force of Undead Troops arrived in front of the corpse piles. Seeing the subtly placed cut hairs near the bodies, they continued marching forward. Only before leaving, they splashed fire oil over the corpses and set them alight.

Within the corpse pile, a layer of Counter Shield wrapped around Su Xiao, and he still didn’t move.

The distinctive Sharp Roar of a signal flare echoed from the distance. In the corpse pile, Su Xiao opened his eyes and crawled out.

With a splash, Su Xiao fell into the nearby creek, and the water around him quickly turned red.

He stood up from the creek. Pale red droplets slid down from his cheeks. He tilted his head back, looking toward the high sky in the distance, where several yellow signal flares hung. The Undead Troops had discovered the trap he’d set.

Su Xiao scooped up a handful of creek water and washed the Blood from his face. He felt much more refreshed overall.

A portion of the Undead Troops had already been drawn away by him. The rest was simple: head straight for the ”Sandy Mountain Range.”

The Sisk Plain separated the ”Dark Moon Marsh” from the ”Sandy Mountain Range.” By moving toward the ”Sandy Mountain Range,” Su Xiao was effectively moving away from the Relic of the Annihilation Law.

Su Xiao’s plan was very simple. He intended to first leave the ”Sisk Plain” region. After reaching the ”Sandy Mountain Range,” he would skirt around the edge of the ”Sisk Plain.”

In the minds of the Undead Clan’s high command, Su Xiao was trying to reach the ”Dark Moon Marsh.” Because of that, they had set up layer upon layer of checkpoints along the way. If Su Xiao really charged straight for the ”Dark Moon Marsh,” he would already have been surrounded and killed by the Undead Clan’s Elite troops—nine times out of ten ending up a corpse.

But Su Xiao’s goal was never the ”Dark Moon Marsh.” Moreover, he would also give the Undead Clan the false impression that he had already reached the ”Dark Moon Marsh.” As for how to achieve that, the ambushing Bubu Wang and A Mu in the ”Dark Moon Marsh” could handle it.

The rough plan for the man, the dog, and the cow was as follows: First, Su Xiao would draw the Undead Clan’s attention, giving the dog and the cow a chance for Infiltration into the ”Dark Moon Marsh” to locate the Relic of the Annihilation Law. Once they found the ruins, A Mu and Bubu Wang would attract the Undead Clan’s attention, while Su Xiao seized the opportunity to enter the Relic of the Annihilation Law.

There was no need to worry about Bubu Wang’s safety; that guy’s survival ability was even stronger than Su Xiao’s. As for A Mu, that Honest Niu just had to soak in the marsh until this world ended.

Su Xiao started advancing toward the ”Sandy Mountain Range.” Along the way, he encountered several Rapid March units of Undead Troops. As expected, the Undead Troops were pushing toward the ”Dark Moon Marsh.”

The Undead Clan’s upper echelon couldn’t figure it out—couldn’t figure out how Su Xiao had made it through the ”Sisk Plain” and infiltrated the Undead Clan’s Capital, the Dark Moon Marsh.

In reality, Su Xiao was still within the ”Sisk Plain.” The reason such an illusion was possible was because Bubu Wang’s ”You Can’t See Me · Passive · Self-Comprehended Skills” was practically unsolvable.
