Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Curse Sword...

They’d found this piece of Treasure right after coming to the World Scar, in the very first sector Alka chose for treasure hunting.

Speaking of which, the Treasures in that first sector Alka had carefully selected really were where They got the most loot.

It was also the most fitting place.

And now it was finally time to claim this Treasure.

They could only hope that among Them, this Treasure would find someone suitable who could wield it.

Otherwise, for an orange-grade Treasure to find no proper Controller—even for Them—that would be annoying as hell, just like the last time with the Cloud Staff.

Very soon, everyone came back one after another.

Jason walked in, sat down on the sofa, and said, ”Looks like those books we spread around have started to boost our reputation.”

Originally, in this city They were already fairly well-known; now there probably wasn’t anyone in the entire World Scar who hadn’t heard of Them.

Especially the record of Their exploits written by Lucilia.

Once Their autobiography spread throughout the world, They might just become one of the most famous Treasure Hunting Teams on the Endless Sea.

Mainly because Their treasure-hunting experiences were outrageous, and the haul They’d gotten along the way was massive.

And all of these exploits could be traced and verified.

It also meant that the more specialized books each of Them had written were starting to spread.

”Let’s rest for a few days, then it’s time to go claim the last piece of Treasure.”

Alka said this as he shook the Mirror Card in his hand.

Inside, Kalande seemed to have resigned himself to his Seal, curled up in a corner, lying flat as if sound asleep.

Looked like he still hadn’t realized how serious this was.

After a few days’ rest, Alka and the others left Return City just as the black curtain of night in the sky was being drawn open.

They rode the floating Mirror vehicle toward their destination, which wasn’t far from here. After about a day’s journey, They finally reached the target location.

Just like the first time They came, there was nothing noteworthy on the desolate plain.

Alka closed his eyes and carefully sensed the surroundings.

Compared to last time, this time his perception had improved, both thanks to his strength and thanks to the overlap with the Dream Realm, giving him better control over this area.

This time, he finally felt it: the space between layers wasn’t between spatial dimensions, but between reality and the Dream Realm.

But that in-between space seemed to be protected by something?

”What do we do?” Chadite asked from the side.

Alka thought for a moment.

He pinched a Mirror Card between two fingers.

And within the Mirror was the sealed Kalande.

A crack appeared within the Mirror.

Kalande’s aura began to drift out through the crack.

Kalande might have looked resigned to his Seal, but the instant he sensed the crack he immediately pressed himself against the Mirror Surface, seemingly trying to locate exactly where it was.

Checking whether it offered any chance of escape.

As the aura flowed out, a clear disturbance appeared in the air before Them, and bizarre lights and shapes began to twist and change all around.

The scent of the Dream Realm started to spread outward.

This place had clearly once been a weak point leading into the Dream Realm, and the mighty wielder of the Curse Sword had evidently used some method to turn that weak point into the hiding place for his legacy.

As the disturbance shifted, a thin crack opened in the air.

A wide-bladed longsword stabbed out from within.

Then with a light downward slice, the crack split fully open. A figure stepped out, dragging a Great Sword behind him.

Only then did They see that the one holding the Great Sword wasn’t human at all, but a humanoid mummified corpse.

The corpse still wore Armor, but the Armor was long since shabby and rotten; through the decayed plates one could see the scars of battles he had once fought.

”Kalande... I can smell Kalande’s stench. Where is that coward?”

A rasping voice reached Them.

It wasn’t the language currently spoken around the World Scar, but Alka had heard it before. Back at the Demon-Defending Fortress, it should have been the old common tongue of the Saralan Empire.

He only knew the basics, but it was enough to barely understand what the corpse was saying.

Pororo and Jason behind him could only look confused, having no idea what was being said.

The mummy’s hollow eye sockets turned toward the Card in Alka’s hand, then he dragged the Great Sword and slowly approached.

Alka didn’t feel any hostility from him, so he only maintained the necessary level of caution.

The hollow sockets seemed to still hold eyes within as they stared fixedly at Kalande in the Mirror Seal.

Right now Kalande was facing the Mirror surface, frantically rummaging around, still searching for where that crack had gone.

Seeing Kalande acting like a mongrel with its tail between its legs, like a caged bird, Alka could clearly feel the emotions radiating from the mummy in front of him.

Those emotions were intense.

”That coward who ran... has fallen to this state... hahaha...”

His voice was painfully shrill, like two rusted iron plates grinding against each other.

The mummy simply collapsed weakly to the ground, propping himself up on the Great Sword, raising his desiccated head to look at Alka.

”You’re no Demon, nor tainted by the breath of the Abyss. You even carry the power of the Holy Mother.

Young man, you brought Kalande’s Seal here because you want this Treasure, don’t you?”
