Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 232: Chapter 231: Everyone Has a Rebellious Phase (Part 1)

As she walked out of the restaurant, Nanoka appeared especially dejected, remaining silent throughout the journey.

However, this was not surprising. Unlike other Fire Mist Warriors who were focused on revenge, Nanoka had genuinely hoped to protect humanity when she became a Fire Mist Warrior. But she had not anticipated how others perceived the Fire Mist Warriors, including an outsider who was one of the leaders, and even Hill himself had no good feelings towards the Fire Mist Warriors.

“Was becoming a Fire Mist Warrior really the right choice?”

At this moment, Nanoka finally began to waver. When she had decided to make the contract, she had convinced herself that she became a Fire Mist Warrior for the world, to protect humanity. But now, she realized that reality was far different from what she had imagined. Perhaps the Followers of the Crimson Realm were not as bad as she thought, and the Fire Mist Warriors were not as noble as she had believed, leaving Nanoka unsure of what to do.

“Nanoka, what’s wrong?”

As a Contractor, Sanya clearly sensed Nanoka’s inner turmoil and panic, and she anxiously started to inquire, with Nanoka hesitating for a moment before looking towards Fang Zheng.

“That… Mr. Fang Zheng?”

“Hmm? What is it?”

Fang Zheng seemed unsurprised by Nanoka’s response; he merely turned his head and glanced at the girl. Facing Fang Zheng’s gaze, Nanoka hesitated but finally resolved to speak.

“That, that… am I unsuitable to be a Fire Mist Warrior?”

“What makes you think that?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng smiled slightly and asked, while Nanoka didn’t know how to respond.

“Because, because… the Fire Mist Warrior I wanted to become, and the Fire Mist Warrior in reality… seem to be too different…”

“So what?”

“Huh?”

Facing Fang Zheng’s almost nonchalant reply, Nanoka couldn’t help but be surprised. Before she could ask further, Fang Zheng spoke again.

“When you became a Fire Mist Warrior, did you receive anything like the ‘One Hundred Rules of a Fire Mist Warrior’ or something like that?”

“Not… no, our teacher only taught us about the mission of the Fire Mist Warriors.”

Nanoka shook her head, her spirits dampened.

“So, are there any rules or laws that Fire Mist Warriors are supposed to follow?”

“That… I’ve not really heard of any…”

“That’s right.”

While saying this, Fang Zheng snapped his fingers with a “snap”. frёewebηovel.cѳm

“You see, there are no clear rules and laws that Fire Mist Warriors must adhere to, so how can you think that those Fire Mist Warriors are the real form that Fire Mist Warriors should take? They are them, and you are you. Their actions don’t represent justice, and your thoughts are not necessarily wrong… do you see that poster?”

While he spoke, Fang Zheng pointed toward an advertisement for a skincare brand endorsed by a celebrity on a nearby skyscraper. Although Nanoka didn’t know why he mentioned that, she still nodded.

“I see it.”

“You must have seen those fashion magazines and tabloids, so you should know that in the entertainment industry, many actresses climb their way up by compromising themselves. But… that’s just an unspoken rule that’s conventionally accepted, it exists naturally but it doesn’t mean that it’s reasonable.”

At this point, Fang Zheng sneered.

“The Fire Mist Warriors are the same, everyone chooses their own path. It’s not like you sleep with a producer to get the lead role and then think everyone else must do the same. Currently, those Fire Mist Warriors believe that sleeping with the producer is unavoidable and natural… But is that really the case?”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng hummed softly.

“Someone has to step in and set things straight, to tell them the true purpose of being a Fire Mist Warrior. You might think your dreams are too idealistic, but who isn’t like that? A sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl is right at the age of dreaming. Why not give it a try? Maybe it’ll work out? There’s no one to dictate exactly what Fire Mist Warriors should or shouldn’t do. So, why care about those who sleep with others? What they think is right might not be right for you. Just do what you want to do, and leave the rest to fate.”

“Do what I want to do…”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s response, the once puzzled look on Nanoka’s face gradually disappeared. Indeed, she had been struggling with this issue. But now, after hearing Fang Zheng’s response, Nanoka suddenly realized.

Indeed, the current actions of the Fire Mist Warriors differed from her own thoughts, but there were no laws specifying that their way was the correct one, were there? Since that was the case, why couldn’t she act according to her own thoughts? With no rules restricting everyone, why then should those Fire Mist Warriors demand she conform to their ways?!

Nanoka, now around sixteen or seventeen, was in her rebellious phase. She hadn’t understood before, but now that she realized, she suddenly felt her logic was flawless. Indeed, she still hadn’t figured out exactly what to do, but at least she could be sure that her desire to protect humanity as a Fire Mist Warrior was not wrong!

Yes, the important thing was to protect humanity, not seek revenge!

Her thinking was correct; it was those Fire Mist Warriors blinded by hatred who were wrong!

Having realized this, Nanoka suddenly felt refreshed, as if the world before her eyes had brightened considerably.

“Thank you, Mr. Fang Zheng!”

“Don’t mention it, helping others is a source of happiness, after all.”

Watching the girl who had firmed up her views, Fang Zheng smiled slightly. The Fire Mist Warriors lacked fresh blood, and those that were alive now had been around for a long time, but they had forgotten that times were changing. The education and culture they received back then were now completely different.

So… It was time for some old relics to step aside and let the newcomers take the stage.

The waves behind the Yangtze River drive the ones before, and the outcome for the previous wave is only one — to die on the beach.

Let himself push this wave forward.

What Fang Zheng hadn’t expected was that, at the same time, an identical conflict was erupting in a distant city.

“Why must I join in this operation?”

Shana raised her eyebrows, glaring at Wilhelmina, who, faced with Shana’s angry gaze, remained as calm as ever.

“Because this battle needs your strength as well.”

“Request to follow.”

“I won’t participate.”

Shana chose to refuse without hesitation.

“This has nothing to do with the balance of the world; it’s merely the Fire Mist Warriors’ vigilantism.”

What made Shana so angry was what Wilhelmina had said to her before.

“We are about to gather to subdue ‘Voyager’ Fang Zheng, and I hope you will join us as well.”

And the moment she heard these words, Shana exploded.
