Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 230: Chapter 229: The Main Quest Finally Releases

“I must say, you sure have some bold ideas…”

After listening to Hill’s proposal, Fang Zheng too was taken aback. He set down his wine glass and looked at the man before him. Even Tilia and Nanoka widened their eyes at his side, staring at him in disbelief.

Indeed, Hill’s proposal was audacious!

It was one thing for Fang Zheng to be at the core of a brand-new third-party organization aimed at suppressing those audacious Followers of the Crimson Realm and Fire Mist Warriors. But for Hill to also attempt to recruit the Followers of the Crimson Realm—and he had even figured out what tasks to set for these beings!

“Mr. Fang Zheng, you must understand that our world is full of violence, war. We can’t meddle in wars, but violent crimes are a different story. The common people who die at the hands of those gangs, the transnational criminal organizations, aren’t any fewer than those devoured by the Followers of the Crimson Realm—perhaps even more! So why can’t we join forces with the Followers of the Crimson Realm to strike at those gangs? If they want to devour human Power of Existence, let them devour those gangsters and criminals instead!”

“………”

...

Hearing Hill speak, the three of them were stunned. After a moment, Nanoka spoke up tentatively.

“But, but Mr. Hill, that’s still eating people… The Followers of the Crimson Realm eating people… that’s…”

“Heh, little sister, you’re still too young.”

Facing Nanoka’s remark, Hill gave a bitter smile and shook his head.

“Before I entered the Outside Holding, I was a detective. I’ve solved many cases, please believe me, when compared to the despicable acts of those human criminals, the Followers of the Crimson Realm feasting on people is frankly several times more civilized! Have you ever seen those children caged and sold like animals? Have you seen the poor souls dragged to the sea and fed to sharks for refusing drug lords’ control? What’s more frustrating to me is that many of them commit crimes but are never punished! Never punished!! The law protects them! The army protects them! Money protects them!!”

At this point, Hill curled his lips.

“The Followers of the Crimson Realm? Haha, let me tell you, I find the Followers of the Crimson Realm a lot more likable than those human criminals. Especially after the Sealing, they at least don’t leave the victims’ families drowning in endless grief and pain. Miss, what do you think is more humane—allowing a pair of parents to wash their faces with tears every day over their child’s photo, or having them forget everything and start anew without pain?”

“This, I… but…”

At Hill’s counterquestion, Nanoka was at a loss for words. Meanwhile, Fang Zheng leaned back in his chair, looking at the man before him and nodded.

This is what it means to be human.

Yes, this is what it means to be human.

Humans have survived on Earth for so many years, evolving from savages to our current state, not protected by Fire Mist Warriors or threatened by the Followers of the Crimson Realm. No, they’ve relied on their own strength, their own hands, utilizing everything they could to ultimately triumph in Evolution over other creatures and stand at the pinnacle of the Earth.

Utilizing everything they could, nuclear energy can be used to make bombs or to generate electricity. Similarly, if the Followers of the Crimson Realm eating people can be properly utilized, isn’t that an acceptable choice?

Besides, it’s not like humans haven’t been eaten before. Saber-toothed tigers ate people, tigers ate people, lions, wolves, bears, and even humans have eaten each other!

So, what difference does it make if there is one more Follower of the Crimson Realm?

Eating people is not the problem, eating bad people is even less of a problem.

“But, but if that’s the case… then this organization would become… those… those…”

As a generation poisoned by ACG, Nanoka naturally understood that the organization Hill was proposing to establish was basically an Avengers Alliance—except this was way more excessive than the Avengers or the X-Men!

Because neither the Avengers nor the X-Men are in charge of the real social security on Earth, this is like taking business away from the police, right!

“Of course, I understand what you mean,”

Hill was also a modern man, and he had watched plenty of movies. Looking at Nanoka’s hesitant demeanor, he knew what she intended to say. It was the classic scenario where such organizations infiltrate human society, and eventually become the puppet masters behind the scenes. Then those humans who refuse to be ruled would rise up against them, leading to a revolt that could end in the organization being overthrown or otherwise. It all depended on whether the director planned to make a sequel.

“But, we don’t have a better solution, at least this is an opportunity. Whether it will become the antagonist or the protagonist… is up to fate,”

Having said this, Hill sighed and then looked apologetically at Tilia.

“This may sound offensive, but if possible, I also wish the Followers of the Crimson Realm and the Fire Mist Warriors would all leave Earth, far away. But that’s impossible, isn’t it? So, we must find our own way to make a change.”

That’s right, if they couldn’t be eliminated or banished, then they had to be accepted and changed.

“Ding.”

Just then, a system prompt chimed in Fang Zheng’s ear, followed by a message that appeared before him.

[Main quest activated: End it all]

[As a Dimensional Mage, you have come to understand the world you are in. Now, at the crossroads of this world’s fate, the decisions you make will influence its future and outcome. Find the most suitable solution and put an end to it all! (Rewards will be given according to evaluation upon task completion.)]

Finally!

Gazing at the main quest before him, Fang Zheng was on the verge of tears—of laughter or frustration, he wasn’t sure. He had been eating and drinking for a month in this world and finally, the main quest was activated. It seemed that, as Fang Zheng had suspected, the system only activated the main quest once he had come to understand everything about the world. No wonder that in the worlds he was familiar with, the system would throw out tasks right from the start, but in these unfamiliar worlds, exploration was required…

However, what was somewhat irritating to Fang Zheng was that in the very beginning, the system would reward him with Dimensional Points for completing tasks. But ever since he had ‘topped-up’ his account with Spirit Crystals, the system hadn’t issued any Dimensional Point rewards anymore. This was something he couldn’t help but ponder deeply… who the hell did this system learn this compulsory ‘top-up’ method from?

If the Dimensional Codex had any sense of wisdom, Fang Zheng would definitely have a serious talk about family education with his ‘child,’ making it understand that one must work to gain something—that money doesn’t just fall from the sky. “Don’t you get it? Your dad’s money isn’t swept in by the wind!”

Moreover, the content of the main quest made Fang Zheng even more puzzled.

End it all?

What a spiritual use of the word “end.”

The system never used irrelevant words when issuing tasks. If it had said “change,” then Fang Zheng would have understood. Clearly, establishing this “Avengers Alliance” would definitely change the current ecological balance of this world. Whether it would lead to the cinematic scenario that Nanoka feared was another matter.

But ‘end’… considering the system never gave him a task beyond his abilities, did that mean he could really bring a successful conclusion to the complex three-way struggle between the Followers of the Crimson Realm, the Fire Mist Warriors, and humanity under his own hand?

That’s not scientific!

No, wait, there might actually be a way…

In that moment, Fang Zheng suddenly remembered.

Didn’t he have a whole bunch of Zerg from the “Ironblood Warrior” world?

If he brought them over, surely the Fire Mist Warriors and the Followers of the Crimson Realm wouldn’t be able to hold up against them. Then with a sweep, he could just flatten the Earth, wouldn’t that ‘end it’?
