Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Chapter 228: Chapter 228: Mia Lane’s Miscarriage

”Go and be with her; this is when a woman is at her most vulnerable, after all, it was a life.”

”Alright, thank you, doctor.” He turned and walked out.

”Justin...” On the hospital bed, Mia slowly opened her eyes, staring at the empty ceiling, feeling a sudden void in her heart.

She had dreamed again, dreamed of him again.

And missed him even more.

”You’re awake?”

Hearing the voice, Mia turned her gaze and saw Anton standing at the bedside. He was standing there with his arms crossed, gazing down at her with indifferent eyes. She had no idea when he had started standing there.

”...” She met his gaze, feeling a bit awkward.

”You were dreaming?” He slightly curled his lips, not exactly smiling, ”Were you calling his name?”

”I wasn’t.” She denied it, quickly averting her guilty gaze.

”Don’t deny it, I heard it all loud and clear.” He sat down in the chair, leisurely asking, ”So tell me, what happened between you two? Did you break up?”

Mia felt there was no point in hiding it, ”Sort of.”

”Why?” He looked at her earnestly, curious.

His persistent questioning put a lot of pressure on her, and Mia looked back at him, ”I’m hungry, I want something to eat.”

Anton met her gaze, ”Alright.” A few seconds later, he got up and left, casually closing the door behind him.

Lying on the hospital bed, Mia let out a breath with her eyes darkened.

Justin was likely to become a scar on her heart.

How can you easily forget someone who has entered your heart?

Her stomach no longer hurt, but she felt weak all over. Mia sighed again, realizing she would have to stay longer in Aethelburg; a person’s health indeed can crumble all of a sudden.

Anton had just gotten downstairs when he received a call from Henric, one of his team members, ”Boss, aren’t you coming back to coach us on the tactics?”

”I’m not there in person, but we can communicate over the phone.” Anton said while heading towards the hospital lobby, ”Mia’s situation is a bit serious, I need to stay with her.”

”Why is it you staying with her?” Henric blurted out, ”Isn’t she Justin’s woman? Let him know and let him stay with her.”

Anton’s gaze deepened, ”If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up now.”

”...” Henric realized he had misspoken and upset his boss, he sighed, ”No, nothing, take care of yourself too. We’ll just have to make do!”

”You must bring me a championship!” Anton ordered, ”If you don’t, don’t come back to Riventhal.”

Henric laughed, ”Yes, yes, we’ll get it for you!”

Anton hung up the phone and left the hospital.

He planned to buy her some porridge and some highly nutritious soup.

The doctor said a miscarriage is equivalent to having a child, or even more severe.

She needs to rest well, otherwise, there will be lingering effects.

He had yet to tell her about the miscarriage, afraid that knowing might cause her emotional distress.

Inside the hospital.

The emergency room remained in an orderly state of busyness.

Justin’s condition was extremely dire; he had lost a lot of blood and was continuously receiving transfusions, with a consciousness so weak it was almost nonexistent, unable to speak her name anymore.

The only sign of life was the occasional spasm of his fingers, held tightly by Monica, but even those were not strong.

Monica sat by the surgical table, her vision already blurred with tears, accompanying him in silence as he lay there covered in blood, willing to trade ten years of her life for him to open his eyes.

”Justin, you have to survive.” A voice kept repeating inside Monica’s heart, ”I can’t live without you, and you have the children too, even for the sake of the two kids, you must come back to us. Could you bear to see them lose their mother and be without a father?”

Her tears fell like broken pearls, dripping one by one onto her wrist, soaking the entire cuff of her sleeve.
