Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 91: Chapter 88: Taking the Lead

Shanren’s command was also [Spiritual Shock].

This special move targeting the opponent’s physical defense is perfect for dealing with a Chansey with weak physical defense. As long as Chansey doesn’t leave the field, there’s no problem using it repeatedly.

Meowstic’s folded ears lifted up, and blue light waves suddenly condensed into countless Spiritual Fluctuation Balls.

As Chansey once again tried to channel Spiritual Power, Meowstic viciously released these Spiritual Fluctuation Balls, causing the two moves to clash once again.

Dust floated lightly and then rapidly dispersed.

”Both contestants have engaged in another invisible clash! The invisible battle is truly nerve-wracking!”

The host’s passionate voice echoed through the broadcast.

Baimu frowned, confirming that Meowstic indeed wasn’t holding back. Its ears are special organs where Spiritual Power is explosively released. Once they are activated, there’s no possibility of holding back.

Thus proving that the Spiritual Power levels of Chansey and Meowstic are actually similar; perhaps even the latter is slightly inferior, as it’s using an offensive move.

——Meowstic’s level isn’t high.

He could only think of this possibility, inevitably feeling a bit frustrated.

The Pokémon strength that Shanren had previously revealed far exceeded this level, but why did he choose such a low-level Pokémon to battle him?

Did the high-level ones become disobedient?

Or... Is it that he doesn’t need those strong Pokémon, and Meowstic alone can handle Mawile and the others?

No matter what Shanren’s thoughts might be.

Baimu regretted that he couldn’t make him exert his full strength. This evenly matched battle certainly showed the possibility of victory, but it wasn’t what he wanted.

As a trainer, making the opponent feel they don’t need to use their full strength is a dereliction of duty.

So.

In that case, let’s use strength to force Shanren to show his full capabilities!

Baimu took out the Pokéball to swap out Chansey, and swiftly replaced it with Lairon as the smoke hadn’t fully dissipated.

”Quicksand Hell!”

”Gudo!”

Lairon growled deeply, seemingly aware of the trainer’s unyielding frustration. Waves of yellow quicksand sprayed out from the pitch-black cavities densely covering its body, completely surpassing Lairon’s mass in scale and volume.

And this sandstorm, sweeping forward, quickly collided with the multicolored light waves released by Meowstic.

Opponent swapping, Shanren naturally wouldn’t stand idly by as if he hadn’t noticed, so he initiated the attack the moment Lairon landed.

But Lairon’s initial speed was also fast, causing the [Illusion Beam] to hit not Lairon, but the Quicksand Hell it released.

Boom!

The multicolored waves blasted apart a portion of the quicksand but couldn’t penetrate completely, instead being engulfed. The root cause was that Lairon was still continuously spraying yellow sand from behind, replenishing the lost parts of Quicksand Hell.

Buzz—

The sandstorm roared and rotated, its scale growing instantly huge. Meowstic was affected by the wind force and got sucked into the disastrous Quicksand Hell.

Shanren crossed his arms to shield his face, quickly stepping back to avoid being affected by the Quicksand Hell.

Meanwhile inside Quicksand Hell.

The fine quicksand, blown by the strong wind, tore at Meowstic’s body like knives, causing it to show a pained expression.

Just then.

A faint pink barrier suddenly appeared, revolving around Meowstic. The fierce quicksand passed through the barrier but its speed and power were reduced.

Relying on the breathing space brought by the Reflective Wall, Meowstic’s ears perked up, its eyes emitted blue light, and quickly flew out from the sandstorm, successfully escaping Quicksand Hell.

But just as it emerged above, a shadow suddenly pounced from mid-air!

”Meowow!”

Meowstic shivered, immediately lifting its ears to release a powerful psychic wave.

However, at the same time it acted, a command from the trainer came from behind that was vastly different from its decision.

”Stop!”

The arrow was already on the string and had to be released; the psychic wave unleashed naturally couldn’t be retracted.

But unexpectedly, the shadow moved even faster!

An abrupt dark red light transformed into a horrifying large mouth in front, and the escaped psychic wave collided with it but was quickly torn open with a large gap by the dark red light. The enormous mouth passed through the gap, fiercely biting into Meowstic!

Bang!

A dull explosion.

The pink void barrier shattered, whether reaching its limit or being bitten through by Mawile.

Meowstic was blown back into Quicksand Hell, spinning like clothes in a washing drum, and then flung out violently, rolling twice on the ground and showing a pair of spinning eyes.

Beep—

An ear-piercing alarm and audience uproar simultaneously rang out.

”Meowstic has lost its battle capability! The first Pokémon to lose battle capability has appeared! Surprisingly, it’s Shanren’s side that first shows a gap!”

The host’s voice had a tone of astonishment. He watched Mawile returning to stand before Baimu and couldn’t help but pass the commentary to the guest beside him, ”Mr. Fushan, why do you think Meowstic was taken down so cleanly?”

The guest named Fushan laughed, ”It’s simple. First, we must admit Contestant Baimu is very smart. Upon realizing Chansey couldn’t turn the tides, he immediately swapped it out, choosing Lairon to use Quicksand Hell to bind Meowstic.

”But in reality, Quicksand Hell’s true target was not Meowstic, but Contestant Shanren.”

”Ah! I understand!”

”Yes, Lairon’s massive, unrestrained release of Quicksand Hell was so enormous that Contestant Shanren’s initial position couldn’t effectively ensure he wouldn’t be harmed by the sand and stone, so he had to retreat to a safe environment first.”

Fushan paused briefly, ”And during this period, Contestant Baimu swapped again, replacing Lairon with Mawile, utilizing Electromagnetic Levitation to wait for Meowstic’s escape from Quicksand Hell, finally using a rapid Rush to break through Meowstic’s psychic wave and achieve victory.”

Using moves to influence trainers may be seen as base in other regions, but in the Ore Region, they are indifferent to such tactics. As long as there’s no deliberate attack on the trainer, being influenced is your own issue.

Therefore, neither the host nor the audience finds any fault with Baimu’s strategy.

——Shanren himself also thinks so.

”This guy is really exceptional.”

Originally, Shanren planned to use Pokémon of comparable levels for a battle to prove his tactical skills are not far behind his opponent, only to inadvertently give the opponent the first victory due to his overconfidence.

No wonder his father said the opponent has particularly strong Pokémon nurturing capabilities.

While retrieving Meowstic, Shanren decided on the next tactic to deploy.

The Luxury Ball flew out.

Boom!

”Yadong!”

The clumsy pink hippopotamus swung its tail, which was caught by a large shell, showing a harmless smile.

The hermit crab Pokémon, Water plus Psychic Attribute, Slowbro!

Sharp rocks emerged in the air, yet Slowbro seemed not to notice them, allowing them to explode with white light, equally ignoring the equally destructive rock fragments.

And when the white smoke cleared.

Slowbro’s nearly intact appearance was revealed.

It still wore that silly smile on its face.
