Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 935: Chapter 41: Space-Type Weapons

Robert Star System - 5th Star Ring - Mechanical Serpent Constellation

From a location perspective, this transformed planet of the Mechanical Serpent Constellation is situated between the Mirta Federation and Galen Republic, right at the border area of both.

Typically, a Black Market planet like this, once fallen within a civilization’s domain, is bound to be attacked by that civilization’s armed forces.

More dangerously, the Mirta Federation and Galen Republic, the two Overlord-level civilizations of the Kote Star Zone, are currently in a military standoff. Numerous conflicts have already occurred along the border, and a slight misstep could easily drag the region into war.

However, miraculously, despite this situation, the Mechanical Serpent Constellation remains safely nestled in this Danger Zone, with extensive underground transactions centered on this planet, constantly bustling in and out. In the planet’s orbit, three interstellar Space Ports float, these white colossal structures are upgraded versions of Interstellar Space Stations, accommodating more spaceships, with ships arriving every moment through Cosmic Tunnels.

Vita is the docking attendant at Snake Head Space Port; his usual task is guiding spacecraft in and out for docking, a very relaxed job since no one dares to cause trouble on the Collector’s turf. As an interstellar refugee, Vita is quite satisfied with his current living conditions, as few are willing to shelter them, especially when being hunted by the Void Dweller.

On this Planet Day, Vita was as laid-back as usual, sitting idly in the docking bay, watching streams of Radiance morph into ships, or ships entering ’Light-speed Mode’, transforming into faintly discernible streaks of light, disappearing from sight.

As he wondered how many more Planet Days he had before being rotated out, suddenly, one after another, beams of light appeared, revealing the silhouettes of ships in the slowdown channel.

’Why are so many coming at once?’

Vita absentmindedly glanced over, then his Prosthetic Eyes almost sparked in shock, witnessing a fleet of Star Thief Ships with tattered exteriors and blood-stained surfaces descending from Superluminal Mode, one ship, two ships, three ships... finally Vita’s vision was entirely covered by a dense cluster of Star Thief Ships. The Star Thieves aboard, each with fierce expressions, seemed eager to snatch something, even their weapons were glowing. When the last Starship slowly emerged, the massive Energy Level hadn’t yet exited Light-speed Mode; the surging energy waves spilling over resembled tidal waves, growing ever higher.

He had seen Star Thieves before, but never so many!

”Robbery... robbery!!”

Gao Gong shuddered abruptly, just recovered from ’Great Health’ mode, as he noticed the space windows frame an intense brightness.

”What’s happening?”

His skin automatically wriggled, the Lester’s Red Mark on its surface slowly disappearing, flames absorbed back into his skin. He glanced at the System Panel: sixth ’Tattoo Transformation’, Blood Volume +1000, no attribute points added.

Unfortunately, the tattoo’s effect was waning.

Being a ruthless Evolution machine, ever since etching ’Lester Cell-Level Tattoo Transformation’ internally, machines were not needed to assist; the body could autonomously upgrade its hardware, the process was thoroughly enjoyable.

But what’s going on with all these lights outside?

Instinctive threat was sensed by Gao Gong.

Exiting the cabin, the fleet perimeter was enclosed by a swarm of glowing dots, resembling a cluster of luminous small eyes, encircling nearly two hundred of their ships.

Meanwhile, Ms. Qin Zhenzi, representing the company, was negotiating with an arthropod-like alien entity. This alien creature resembled an oversized lobster, the only incongruous feature was a pair of fist-sized Prosthetic Eyes in its eye sockets, with eyeballs swirling around.

”I sense a certain degree of danger,” Du Zhaodi appeared unnoticed, slightly solemn, data control pipelines inserted in her back, her eyes flashing bursts of data radiance.

The Great Curved Saber is the true form of Du Zhaodi; in her Human Form state, she equates to the ship’s onboard AI, with data cables plugged into her back, a mark of full power functionality, also signifying that she has detected some kind of risk.

Gao Gong squinted at these flickering ’glowing eyeballs’, familiar waves were sensed from these ’eyeballs’.

’Space-type Weapon?’

Space Weapons and space-type Weapons differ: Space Weapons can bypass shields, inflicting massive ’True Damage’, whereas space-type Weapons can inherently penetrate shields for frontal attacks.

If Director Du perceives a threat, and there’s a certain degree of apprehension felt, clearly these luminous large eyeballs belong to the ’Tier 3’ category.

Strange, an interstellar Black Market possessing Level 3 Civilization defense weapons, truly... rare.

Soon, Qin Zhenzi flew over, whispering: ”The other side agrees we can enter the Space Port, but all weapons on the ship must be handed over, including Energy Cannon.”

Gao Gong gazed around; probably due to their commotion being excessively loud, many ships were hovering afar, watching the spectacle without entering the Space Port.

”No need for that hassle, nor for disarming,” Gao Gong remarked calmly, his words made the nearby ’lobster person’ tremble, fearing a bunch of reckless people had come.

But then the opponent swiftly shifted tone, saying:

”These are intended for auction, just hand them over, why disassemble them.”

The ’lobster person’ then breathed a sigh of relief, cautiously floated over, adjusting the Universal Translator to the appropriate frequency, began:

”Respected Sir, are these ships really intended for sale?”

Knowing that on the Black Market, only two hard currencies exist: Level 3 Civilization Credit Points and ships; the former is universal currency, the latter can be exchanged for universal currency and flee.

Those venturing to the Black Market mostly engage in less-than-legitimate activities, who would sell their means of livelihood?

The ’lobster person’ verified several times before arranging for people to guide the ships into the port, not to the docking Mechanic Platform but to the auction platform inside.

Almost two hundred ships for auction at once, even in such a level Black Market, it’s a noticeable event.

Within the Space Port’s built-in communication channel, chatter instantly increased.

”The rumors turned out to be true!”

”Rumors, which rumors?”

”How can you not know, Lester Star Thief Gang, Co-prosperity Seeker, and Independent Traitor, these renowned Star Thief gangs faced disaster during recent hunts; the arrogant kid with red skin even vanished!”

”You’re exaggerating; these gangs, though not weak, to call them renowned is an exaggeration.”

”What about the Walter Clan? That gene-modifying old coot reportedly lost a fleet!”

”Walter took a hit too!?”

These alien spectators were deeply astonished.

Mind you, by underground standards, Star Thief Groups are categorized into small, medium, and large; but in the Robert Star System, there are no large Star Thief Groups—the once infamous Shrek Star Thief Group was only mid-sized.

As for the legendary large Star Thief Groups, they can operate across Interstellar Systems; such level groups either evolve into Nomadic Civilizations or get assimilated by Advanced Civilizations, essentially not active within physical space due to potential entanglements sparking Ascension Civilization-level wars.

In their astonishment, these aliens soon began digesting another piece of gossip.

”So many ships, all sold? It’s hard to fathom.”

”Isn’t this person a bit foolish, selling ships?”

”Although the Star Thieves’ ship tech is lacking, they’re resilient and useful!”

”Could the person be a fool, or perhaps have connections, or is he a connected fool? A heir of some Tribal Civilization?”

After entering the Space Port, the internet connection improved, at least Gao Gong could see what gossip others were consuming. Upon observing doubts towards his intelligence, Gao Gong couldn’t help but roll his eyes.

Soon I can acquire a Star Destroyer, who needs these wrecks?
