Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Night falls.

Li Yu is still examining the military map, which is quite damaged, making many places hard to discern.

After a long search, Li Yu circled a few places that are clear.

These circled places are all some distance away from the Big Camphor Tree Base; one is in the East Coastal region, and the other is in Western Kun City and Gui City.

Li Yu plans to wait for Third Uncle and the others to return, then go out to search.

The recently discovered military base has significantly strengthened the Big Camphor Tree Base.

Meanwhile, today Second Uncle also found Li Yu and disclosed that the warehouse in the Inner City is already full, some munitions are difficult to store now, and can only be temporarily placed in some factories.

However, these factories aren’t very secure, and storing things above ground remains a significant risk.

”Looks like we still need to build a new bunker; otherwise, storing bombs on the ground is too dangerous,” Li Yu stood up, walked to the window, and murmured.

Building an underground warehouse is actually a very large project.

Excavation, construction, insulation, cold protection, waterproofing, and so forth.

This isn’t a simple matter.

But now it seems it’s time to build another bunker.

Li Yu thought for a while and made a decision in his heart.

He returned from the balcony to the room and put away the military map.

The military map was covered with a thin film, so the red circles drawn on it can be wiped with a cloth.

....

The next day.

After waking up, Li Yu immediately went to find Second Uncle and Ding Jiu.

In the meeting room.

”Second Uncle, regarding the issue you mentioned yesterday, I’ve thought it through. The bunker definitely needs to be built; the situation now has reached a point where we have no choice but to build it,” Li Yu said to Second Uncle.

Last night, he pondered it over and over. The memories of his previous life only span five years.

Now almost three years have passed; he doesn’t know what major changes might happen to the world in another two years.

So building a bunker is also to take precautions, to plan for unexpected events.

We can still survive outdoors now, but who knows what will happen in this doomsday in another two years.

Making preparations in advance, even if nothing happens, can still be used for storing weapons and supplies.

The bunker won’t go to waste.

Second Uncle was not very surprised at Li Yu’s words, but hesitated as he said, ”Building a bunker is far more complicated than building above ground; it’s definitely a long project, requiring vast amounts of manpower and resources.

Xiao Yu, are you sure you want to do this?”

Ding Jiu also spoke, ”Exactly, Director Li’s small bunker built in the Outer City already consumed so much manpower and resources. If we build another one, it won’t be done in just a couple of days.”

Li Yu looked closely at the two and said, ”Firstly, our Inner City warehouse is full; even munitions occupy space meant for storing other supplies.

So building a bunker is to store munitions.

That’s one necessary reason to do this.”

”Secondly.”

Li Yu slowly stood up from his seat, looked at the two, and asked:

”What do you think about the changes in weather and environment after the doomsday hit?”

Second Uncle frowned, considering Li Yu talking about building a bunker and suddenly diverting to weather, this is.....

But soon, Second Uncle figured it out.

The danger of natural disasters!

But currently, despite these natural disasters breaking out, they seemingly remain unaffected above ground.

Second Uncle thought for a few seconds, and then truthfully said, ”Natural disasters have become more frequent: earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides, floods, torrential rain, droughts....”

Ding Jiu recalled the natural disasters in these two or three years, more exaggerated than anything he saw in his past life, and nodded in agreement.

Li Yu continued saying, ”Not long ago, when we went to Shaosh City, I told you before that we saw nuclear radiation zombies.

The reason I’m mentioning these two issues is to say that we cannot predict what will happen in the future, but we must plan for the worst-case scenario; otherwise, what will happen to all of us then.....”

Second Uncle heard this and felt deeply shocked.

Li Yu was right, and he suddenly remembered how they managed to stay strong through every natural disaster.

It was because they mysteriously made preparations every time, previously perhaps they didn’t think much of it.

But now connecting everything together, reflecting upon it, Second Uncle made an assessment of what would happen if they weren’t prepared before the natural disaster.

If the walls weren’t as high, what would happen; zombies would invade during heavy rain!

If there were no greenhouse, what would happen; all the crops over a hundred acres would likely perish!

If their drainage system wasn’t so perfect when heavy rain and floods hit, what would happen; Base City would definitely have several meters, even ten meters of water depth!

.....

From past memories, Second Uncle suddenly discovered a pattern.

Li Yu always got them to do seemingly nonsensical things at the time, which might seem useless for long periods.

But suddenly one day when a natural disaster struck, those things they did back then would prove tremendously useful.

Xiao Yu is right!

In uncertain environments, you can only do certain things.

At least be ready for various scenarios, so you can respond effectively in a crisis.

”Build, we must build, Xiao Yu, I think you’re right. We need to look farther ahead.”
