Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

At this moment, Li Gang, who was staying in the duty room, ran out.

”Brother, there’s a situation at Oil City!” Li Gang shouted towards Li Yu who was standing on the wall.

Hearing this, Li Yu frowned and quickly walked over.

”Old Bi, what’s going on? What happened?”

In Oil City, Xiao Jun was standing next to Old Bi.

Old Bi said to Xiao Jun, ”Old Xiao, you talk to Director Li; you are more familiar with the situation.”

”Alright.” Xiao Jun took the headset and sat in front of the military radio.

Then he spoke to Li Yu:

”Director Li, after we left the Transfer Station, we headed straight for Oil City.

When we were less than twenty kilometers from Oil City, we noticed there was a tail following us.”

”Following you, was it tracking you all the way or did you notice it only when you got near Oil City ?” Li Yu asked with a frown.

”To be honest, we’re not sure, but I saw those people have military equipment, and they seemed very well stocked, strong.

We didn’t encounter them; it was our drones that spotted them.

They were driving military trucks, something like seven or eight vehicles, probably dozens of people.

Later we decided to avoid them, but found they voluntarily withdrew and left to the east.

Afterwards, we returned to Oil City.”

Hearing Xiao Jun’s words, Li Yu’s heart pounded.

He detested these people spying in the shadows because he couldn’t gauge if they were foes or allies.

According to his personality, those he couldn’t identify were all classified as enemies.

He then said, ”So, you discovered them near Oil City, correct?”

”Yes, I just discussed it with Old Bi, we both agree there’s a high possibility that these people have targeted Oil City, and we happened to come over and find them.” Xiao Jun said.

”Alright, I understand, you guys strengthen vigilance, I’ll send someone over to investigate.” Li Yu thought for a moment and said.

”Okay, but Director Li, about Old Bi here, who’s tasked with taking the oil back to Big Camphor Tree Base per the original plan, what should he do now that this happened? Should he return?”

Xiao Jun spoke while turning his head to look at Old Bi.

Old Bi had a face full of helplessness, feeling quite miserable. He eagerly awaited Xiao Jun and the others coming over, but encountered such a mess.

There’s a high chance he won’t be able to leave just yet.

After hearing Xiao Jun’s question, Li Yu pondered for a few seconds before saying: ”Let’s wait a bit, I’ll send people over to investigate first, let Old Bi wait until we’re there to decide.”

”Alright.” Xiao Jun placed the headset down and handed it to Old Bi.

”Director Li...” Old Bi’s voice was tinged with slight grievance.

Li Yu detected Old Bi’s grievance, coughed twice, and said: ”Old Bi, as the saying goes, man proposes but God disposes, stay over there for now, I’ll send someone over later to investigate.”

”Okay, I’ll follow Director Li’s instructions.” Old Bi understood that with the occurrence of this situation, leaving now would be inappropriate, uncertain about whether those people were friend or foe.

If they withdrew, the troop strength in Oil City would decrease, possibly allowing someone to take advantage and infiltrate.

Crucially, if he took the freshly produced oil back to Big Camphor Tree Base and encountered those people on the way, what then?

It’s all unknown, so caution is paramount.

.....

After communicating with Old Bi, Li Gang watched Li Yu from the side and asked: ”Brother, what’s the plan? Should we make a trip to Oil City?”

Li Yu responded: ”You want to go?”

”No, just curious about who those people might be, so sneaky.” Li Gang scratched his head and said.

Li Yu rubbed his temples, feeling the matter hadn’t settled.

Just after successfully transporting the arms back, a moment worth celebrating, this happened, making Li Yu profoundly displeased.

Given the situation, Li Yu had to discuss it with someone; Second Uncle was tallying arms over there, and Uncle was helping too.

So Li Yu sought out Third Uncle and briefed him on the situation.

Third Uncle, being the King of Soldiers, possessed top-notch reconnaissance skills.

After listening to Li Yu’s account, Third Uncle slowly said:

”So, Xiao Jun and his team haven’t talked to those folks at all, not even met them?”

”Correct, he said it was discovered by drones placed in the sky; without them, they probably wouldn’t have noticed.”

”Hmm.... This matter is indeed significant; such a group lingering near Oil City is certainly up to no good.”

Li Yu also nodded and said, ”That’s what I think as well.”

Without hesitation, Third Uncle stood up, brushing off dust from his thighs, and said to Li Yu: ”Alright, I got it; tomorrow I’ll head over there with Jackals to investigate where these people might be coming from.”

Li Yu didn’t refuse; this task was only feasible for Third Uncle and his team.

Although Luo and the others can pilot helicopters, their reconnaissance skills pale in comparison to Third Uncle’s team.

Seeing Third Uncle stand up, an idea popped into Li Yu’s head, and he said to Third Uncle: ”Third Uncle, since you’re heading to Oil City, why not take some stuff over and bring one of our newly acquired heavy artillery along, enhancing Oil City’s security level.”

”That heavy artillery isn’t light; the cabin won’t hold it. Hmm...but there is a way, sling it over and fly it overhead.” Third Uncle stroked his chin bristles, squinting his eyes and said.

”Alright, as long as there’s a way; pack some bombs in the cabin, and sling the artillery framework with ropes.” Li Yu felt Third Uncle made sense and nodded.

”Then let’s proceed with this. Anything else?” Third Uncle seemed poised to attend to other matters.

Li Yu needn’t guess to know what Third Uncle would be up to momentarily.

Heading to the greenhouse to pick fruits, snacks for the journey tomorrow.

So he shook his head and said: ”That’s all, Third Uncle, carry on.”

Without fuss, Third Uncle turned and headed towards the greenhouse.

Watching Third Uncle’s departing figure, Li Yu pondered darkly.

”From the east, with live ammo...could it be that force?”

Li Yu murmured.

In the previous world, in his memory, after the apocalypse erupted, many base forces emerged, but nearly all were destroyed.

The rise and fall of towers.

With time, forces continuously shifted, repeatedly destroyed.

Following the apocalypse, he lived in M City for a while, then departed.

Wandered far and wide, intermittently joining various forces, but nearly all perished.

Only one remained, no, rumor held another existed in the North.

Based on his memory, seemingly in the previous existence, one in the South, one in the North, and altogether two mighty forces, potentially one in the West too, though he knew little about it, mainly because he was a lowly individual struggling daily to stay alive.

Having joined that Southern force in his past life, rumor having it some found a military base, using it as a foundation for development.

This force was named: Southern Paradise.

Li Yu suspected the people Xiao Jun and his team discovered might belong to the Southern force.’

And precisely, the Southern force’s location was Jinling.

He had visited there but eventually left.

Initially, the place was decent, yet after its leader’s death, internal conflict erupted severely.....

He then left with Guan Zhongjin.

.....

He had been avoiding that region all along, even wanting to position his forces around Xin City before discovering Oil City.

The reason was simple; the force was exceedingly strong.

No eternal friends, just eternal interests.

In the dark forest rule, when lacking strength, exposing one’s position invites stronger attackers, leaving no burial ground.

However, now with the base numbering more, helicopters available, and this batch of firearms secured.

He had gained confidence.

The formidable Southern Paradise of the past life didn’t seem so intimidating now.

Most crucially, he held in this apocalypse something comparable to nuclear weapons.

Enhanced Zombie Attraction Potion.

That was his fundamental confidence.

After all, in this doomsday zombie world, humanity’s greatest challenge remained the vast zombie hordes!
