Chapter 352: Re-visiting Mauville Gym

Leaving the Steel Valley, it didn’t take long for Ash’s group to return to Mauville City.

Stepping into the town, Brock let out a long breath, ”Great, we’ve finally arrived!”

”Yeah, finally back in the big city!” May also exclaimed.

Ash suggested, ”Let’s find a place to eat first, then go to the Mauville Gym to find Mr. Wattson and the others.”

”Okay... wait, Ash, Brock, look over there, there are so many entertainment facilities!”

May was attracted by an open space nearby.

It could be seen that the open space was filled with a large number of game facilities, looking like they were about to hold some kind of celebration.

Ash glanced at it, and after seeing the Team Rocket Trio wearing heavy doll costumes, he immediately lost interest and said, ”It looks fun, but there’s no one here right now, so it probably hasn’t opened yet, let’s go eat.”

Brock glanced over, and agreed with Ash’s statement: ”Hmm... that’s true. As a metropolis, if Mauville City were holding an event, it’s impossible for no one to come.”

”Hey, what a pity!”

May sighed, but thinking about the delicious food she would eat later, the regret on her face vanished in an instant.

Seeing Ash’s group walking away, the Team Rocket Trio was also stunned.

”Hey, Jessie, was our disguise seen through by the Ash?” James said uncertainly.

”It’s possible, Meowth, did the disguise device you built malfunction?”

Jessie looked at Meowth hiding inside the doll stall.

”Impossible! Last time at the Lavaridge Gym, the Ash didn’t discover us.”

Meowth also didn’t know what was going on.

”Then what should we do? We put all our money into these facilities. If we don’t get any returns, we might starve to death.”

James brought up a very realistic problem.

Jessie: ”Uh...”

”Forget it, Meowth, since the Ash isn’t falling for it, we can only make the best of it and open for business!”

Meowth didn’t know where he pulled a stack of flyers from and stuffed them into their hands.

The content on the flyers was very simple, just these entertainment facilities they had put together.

In order not to starve to death, Jessie and James had to go around pulling people to try them out.

Fortunately, the business capability of the Team Rocket Trio was maxed out, and in less than half an hour, the whole open space was crowded with tourists.

Meanwhile.

Ash’s group had also eaten their fill and came to the Mauville Gym again.

Looking at the renovated dojo facade, May exclaimed: ”Compared to when we came last time, the changes are huge!”

”Indeed, the exterior has changed a lot.” Brock said.

”Let’s not worry about this for now, let’s go inside and see.”

Just as Ash was about to go up and push the door, he saw Wattson and Watt walking out from the side door with a Manectric.

Seeing the main people come out, Ash and the others greeted them one after another, ”Mr. Wattson, Mr. Watt!”

Wattson saw Ash and the others, and his face showed surprise, ”Oh, it’s you guys, Ash. Have you finished challenging the Lavaridge Gym?”

”Long time no see, everyone!” Watt waved to say hello.

”Yeah, we just finished challenging the Lavaridge Gym, and we were just thinking of passing through Mauville City to return to Petalburg City.” Ash said.

”Petalburg City? So that means you and May are going to challenge Norman!”

”That’s right. By the way, Mr. Wattson, is this Manectric evolved from that Electrike from last time?”

[Pokémon: Manectric] [Attribute: Electric] [Gender: Male] [Level: Gym Intermediate] [Ability: Static] [Qualification: Elite] [Skills: Thunder Shock, Thunder Wave, Quick Attack, Thunder Fang, Bite...]

Ash had to admit that as an Electric-type Gym Leader, he really had experience in training Electric-type Pokémon. In just a short time, the Manectric, which was originally Elite-level, had not only evolved but also achieved a leap in strength.

”That’s right, how about it, Ash, do you want to have another battle?” Wattson took the initiative to initiate a battle request.

Ash smiled and said, ”I’d love to, I just happened to catch a Torkoal.”

Under the guidance of Wattson and Watt, Ash’s group walked through the safe side door again.

At the same time, they also learned from Wattson and the others that the mechanism of the main entrance had been renovated, changing from the original low-speed roller coaster to a roller coaster. In short, going through the main entrance had become more exciting.

After arriving at the battle field, the battle between Ash and Wattson started again.

”Torkoal, I choose you!”

”Manectric, go!”

The two threw their Pokémon balls at the same time.

Ash was not polite at all, and took the initiative: ”Torkoal, use Flamethrower!”

Wattson’s reaction was quite fast: ”Manectric, dodge it and then use Thunder Shock!”

The flames sprayed by Torkoal were dodged by Manectric jumping up, and it even hit back with a bolt of lightning.

”Torkoal, hurry and dodge!”

Torkoal also used a jump to avoid the damage.

”Manectric, use Bite!”

”Torkoal, don’t be afraid, use Rapid Spin!”

Manectric bared its fangs and pounced, while Torkoal curled its body into its shell and then spun around.

As soon as Manectric approached, it was knocked away by Torkoal’s Rapid Spin.

Wattson asked with some worry: ”Manectric, are you okay?”

”Ow～”

Manectric shook its head to indicate it was fine.

”Mr. Wattson, this level of attack is useless against my Torkoal!”

”Haha, a tactic of offense and defense in one? Manectric, use Charge!”

Manectric frantically absorbed the surrounding Electric-type energy, wisps of static electricity flickered on its fur, and the voltage in Manectric’s body rose steadily.

”Torkoal, use Heavy Slam!”

Torkoal sprayed an attack at the standing Manectric, and Manectric just stood there quietly, taking Torkoal’s heavy blow.

”Very good, Manectric, next use Thunder Wave!”

Seeing that the power had accumulated to the top, Wattson also gave the attack command.

Manectric gathered the Thunder Wave to create a light blue electric ball.

”Torkoal, don’t lose to it, use Fire Blast!”

The moment Manectric’s attack came, Torkoal also sprayed a large Fire Blast.

Boom!

The two skills collided together, and a burst of thick smoke covered the entire field.

When the smoke cleared, both Torkoal and Manectric had suffered not-insignificant injuries.

Having reached this point, Wattson didn’t intend to continue, after all, it was just a friendly match, and it would be a loss if it went too far.

At the time of parting, Watt suddenly said:

”By the way, Ash, May, I remember you have participated in the Grand Festival, right? I heard that Verdanturf Town is going to hold a Grand Festival, if you have time, you can go and see it.”

”Really?” May said with some excitement, ”Ash, why don’t we go to Verdanturf Town for our next stop?”

Ash nodded, ”No problem, Brock, I’ll leave the route to you!”

Brock took out his Pokémon Navigator to check the route, ”Verdanturf Town? It doesn’t seem very far, and we can quickly return to Petalburg City by taking a detour.”
