Pokemon: Reborn As Ash, I'll Conquer Every League

Chapter 351: Chapter 351: Capturing Torkoal

Chapter 351: Capturing Torkoal

Before Ash and the others could find Torkoal, the wild Magnemite of the Valley of Steel found them.

”These guys really don’t listen to reason at all.”

Ash also tried to communicate using Aura, but the wild Pokémon in the Valley of Steel were obviously used to being the kings of the mountain and wouldn’t listen to persuasion at all.

Having no other choice, he had no option but to use force. ”Pikachu, use Iron Tail to teach them a lesson.”

”Pika!”

Hearing this, Pikachu launched itself with an electromagnetic jump and hit each of the few Magnemite in mid-air once.

Duang!

Duang!

...

The few Magnemite fell toward the ground like kites with broken strings.

”Huh? This guy...”

After dealing with these Magnemite, Ash intended to take May and the others and bypass the Magnemite, but he accidentally glanced at the stats panel of one of the Magnemite and immediately became interested.

[Pokémon: Magnemite]

[Type: Electric + Steel]

[Gender: Genderless]

[Level: Gym Advanced]

[Ability: Analytic (If the move is used last, the power of the move is increased)]

[Potential: Quasi-Champion]

[Moves: Tackle, Thunder Shock, Supersonic, Thunder Wave, Electro Ball...]

This Magnemite’s potential was clearly ahead of its peers, and it even had a Hidden Ability, making it a Pokémon worth cultivating as a backup attacker.

The final evolution of Magnemite, Magnezone, has a base Speed stat of 60, so the Analytic Ability is quite easy to trigger, and the effect is very simple: if it moves last, the power of the move it uses increases by 30%.

Thinking of this, Ash took out a Poké Ball and threw it.

Pikachu’s Iron Tail had a lot of follow-through, and that Magnemite was captured without much struggle.

After capturing the Magnemite, the group didn’t walk far before they found Torkoal.

But at this moment, Torkoal was being besieged by Skarmory and other Magnemite.

Facing targets that could fly and were agile, Torkoal’s Flamethrower was hard-pressed to pose a threat to the Skarmory and the others.

That Skarmory took advantage of Torkoal’s distraction and launched a Brave Bird, diving down.

May looked nervous and said: ”Ash, that Torkoal is in danger!”

”Yeah, I see it. Combusken, I’m counting on you, use Flamethrower.”

Ash released the Combusken he had obtained from the Slateport City Pokémon Center.

Combusken jumped to Torkoal’s side and spewed a scorching flame at the diving Skarmory.

The Flamethrower hit the Skarmory, scaring it into aborting its attack and fleeing.

Seeing this, the Magnemite also gave up their plan to continue besieging Torkoal.

Ash asked: ”Torkoal, are you okay?”

”Woo!”

Torkoal puffed a burst of black smoke from its nostrils to indicate it was fine, but as soon as the smoke cleared, it collapsed.

May looked at the wounds on Torkoal, ”Torkoal’s injuries seem very serious!”

Brock stared at Torkoal’s injuries and analyzed: ”Yeah, indeed, these aren’t just wounds left by Magnemite and Skarmory; there are also injuries caused by a large Steel-type Pokémon.”

Ash shook his head helplessly, ”It really knows how to push itself.”

Despite saying that, Ash still had to perform the necessary treatment.

After applying the Natural Power buff and spraying Torkoal with a Potion, Ash also got some coal that Torkoal liked and fed it.

Seeing Torkoal regain some spirit, Ash asked: ”Torkoal, do you really want to defeat that Steelix in the Valley of Steel?”

Torkoal nodded repeatedly in response.

”Torkoal, come with us. Skarmory and the others were just beaten back by us, and they will definitely go find Steelix to help them out. If it’s a fair one-on-one duel, I believe you can definitely defeat Steelix.”

As soon as Ash finished speaking, Torkoal seemed to have found a kindred spirit; it was moved to tears and released a large amount of black smoke.

”Smoked black again...” May said helplessly.

Just like that, Torkoal joined their journey through the Valley of Steel.

...

Meanwhile, on the other side.

The Team Rocket Trio, who had also accidentally wandered into the Valley of Steel, were much unluckier; they were being chased and electrocuted by a Magneton and its five or six minions.

”Stop! Stop it quickly...”

”What on earth is going on?”

Being beaten constantly made James feel very confused.

”Didn’t I tell you? They’ve been trying to drive us away from here, Meowth!”

”Wobbuffet~~”

The next second, a beam of white light shot over, blasting the Team Rocket Trio away again.

It was unclear whether their luck was bad or incredibly good.

Magneton blasted them in front of Steelix.

Seeing the three intruders, Steelix also looked unkind.

Jessie wanted to argue with it, but after a roar from Steelix, the Team Rocket Trio immediately lost their nerve.

Afterwards, they even tried to curry favor by wiping Steelix’s body.

Under the wiping of the Team Rocket Trio, Steelix’s tail began to glow with white light.

”Wow, look, it’s sparkling!”

”What a body worth cleaning!”

Unaware of the situation, Jessie and James showered the glowing tail with praise.

As the white light grew brighter, Meowth had an ominous feeling, ”Could this be...”

Slap!

Steelix gave the Team Rocket Trio no face at all and swept the Team Rocket Trio into the sky with an Iron Tail.

”As expected, it used Iron Tail, Meowth!”

Just as the Team Rocket Trio was swept away, Ash and the others brought Torkoal over.

”Yagi~~”

Seeing Torkoal again, Steelix’s expression changed quite noticeably.

[Pokémon: Steelix]

[Type: Steel + Ground]

[Gender: Male]

[Level: Gym Advanced]

[Ability: Rock Head (Even if a move that causes recoil damage is used, HP will not decrease.)]

[Potential: Elite]

[Moves: Dragon Breath, Iron Tail, Dig...]

Torkoal’s emotions were equally agitated.

”Torkoal, let’s go, use Flamethrower!” Ash said.

Hearing this, Torkoal spat out a tongue of flame, while Steelix used Dragon Breath to block it.

After the two moves canceled each other out, Steelix immediately followed up with Iron Tail.

”Torkoal, dodge and then use Flamethrower!”

Under Ash’s reminder, just as the Iron Tail was about to hit it, Torkoal jumped backward and spewed flames at Steelix in mid-air.

However, the Flamethrower, which only lasted for a few seconds, did not cause much damage to Steelix.

”What a powerful Steelix, it can actually ignore Flamethrower!” May exclaimed.

Brock pondered: ”It probably didn’t ignore it; maybe the damage was too low to cause significant injury.”

”Torkoal, don’t give up. If one Flamethrower doesn’t work, then do ten, twenty; its tolerance will eventually have a limit.” Ash encouraged Torkoal.

Hearing this, Torkoal puffed out black smoke in response, then opened its mouth and unleashed another Flamethrower.

Steelix continued to choose to ignore it and repeatedly used Iron Tail to counterattack.

Torkoal’s dodging movements were clean and neat, and it didn’t forget to use Flamethrower to counterattack while dodging.

In the end, Steelix had to use Dig to dive into the ground.

”Torkoal, Steelix is coming out, aim straight ahead and use a heavy attack!”

Hearing this, the red indentation on Torkoal’s shell glowed slightly, and the moment Steelix broke through the ground, Torkoal spewed an orange-red flame.

Steelix, having been sprayed in the face, couldn’t help but retreat, but its intense unwillingness made it use its last bit of strength to execute Iron Tail and disperse Torkoal’s attack.

However, it itself also completely lost the ability to battle because of this and collapsed.

The defeated Steelix was a good sport; it took a deep look at Torkoal and turned to walk toward the depths of the Valley of Steel.

”Torkoal, congratulations!”

Torkoal was so excited that it released a burst of black smoke, enveloping Ash and the others.

”Please, stop spewing black smoke!” May said helplessly.

After leaving the Valley of Steel, Ash obtained Torkoal’s consent and captured it.
