Pokemon: Reborn As Ash, I'll Conquer Every League

Chapter 348: Chapter 348: Ash VS Mura

Chapter 348: Ash VS Mura

Because Azusa was unfamiliar with the referee’s duties, Brock stepped in as the temporary referee for the battle between Ash and the elderly Mura.

”The battle about to commence is a Gym Challenge at the Lavaridge Gym. Each trainer may use three Pokémon, and only the challenger may...”

Brock recited the challenge rules as was customary.

”It’s a 3v3 battle, Ash, are you okay with that?” Mura asked, looking at Ash.

Ash replied, ”No problem, Grandpa Mura, please do not hold back!”

”Good, my first one is this. Go, Rapidash!”

Mura released his first Pokémon.

[Pokémon: Rapidash] [Type: Fire] [Gender: Male] [Level: Gym Advanced] [Ability: Flash Fire (Absorbs Fire-type moves, powering up the user’s own Fire-type moves)] [Potential: Elite] [Moves: Quick Attack, Smart Strike, Flame Charge, Flame Wheel, Flame Vortex, Take Down...]

Ash glanced at Rapidash’s level and didn’t feel any surprise.

After all, the elderly Mura had retired from being the Hoenn Fire-type Elite for nearly twenty years; it was normal that his former ace Pokémon were older and couldn’t fight as well.

Furthermore, Ash just wanted to put pressure on his newly caught Pokémon; he had to give them a chance to battle, right?

”Corphish, I choose you!”

After this period of training, the few Pokémon Ash had newly caught in the Hoenn region were all at least Gym Intermediate level, and Corphish’s level was currently about the same as Rapidash’s.

”Corphish, use Bubble Beam!”

”Rapidash, use Agility!”

Seeing the incoming Bubble Beam, Rapidash reacted quickly and moved with speed, galloping in an arc to charge toward Corphish.

Ash understood the opponent’s goal. ”Corphish, it’s coming! Use Crabhammer!”

Corphish’s eyes sharpened, and its right claw began to glow with white light.

”Rapidash, use Superpower!”

Mura had quite a temper; he went for a big move right from the start.

The horn on Rapidash’s head glowed with white light as it charged at Corphish, and Corphish met it with its claw.

The claw and the horn collided, and both sides began to struggle for dominance.

After a deadlock of several dozen seconds, the two Pokémon barely managed to pull apart.

”Amazing! Ash is actually able to go toe-to-toe with Grandpa’s Pokémon!” Azusa exclaimed.

May showed a faint smile and said, ”Ash is someone who has won the Indigo Plateau Conference and the Silver Conference; he’s incredibly strong!”

”Eh? Ash has participated in leagues in both Kanto and Johto?” Azusa looked at May with some surprise.

Brock also spoke up, ”That’s right, Ash’s strength is very high. May was only able to grow so rapidly under Ash’s guidance and help.”

”Ah, this...”

Azusa was at a loss for words for a moment. She couldn’t even beat Ash’s student, so it was no wonder Ash wanted to challenge her grandfather.

While they were chatting, Corphish and Rapidash clashed several more times, and the situation entered a white-hot phase.

Corphish and Rapidash engaged in a clash of Water-type moves and Fire-type moves.

The moment Hydro Pump and Flamethrower collided, a large amount of white steam was produced, and for a moment, neither Pokémon could find the other on the field.

”Corphish, use Razor Shell at ten o’clock!”

Corphish charged in the direction Ash indicated, using both claws to unleash a sharp Razor Shell strike.

By the time Mura reacted, it was too late; Corphish’s attack had already dealt massive damage to Rapidash.

”Rapidash is unable to battle, so the winner is Corphish. Please...” Brock announced.

Although Corphish had defeated Rapidash in this match, Corphish no longer had the ability to continue fighting, and Ash immediately recalled it to its Poké Ball.

”Ash, you are stronger than the vast majority of challengers I have seen. However, how will you handle this one?”

Mura threw a Poké Ball, ”Go, Camerupt!”

[Pokémon: Camerupt] [Type: Fire + Ground] [Gender: Male] [Level: Quasi-Elite] [Ability: Solid Rock (Reduces the power of super-effective attacks)] [Potential: Elite] [Moves: Tackle, Ember, Eruption, Stomp, Burn Up, Earth Power, Lava Plume...]

”Camerupt, huh? Then I choose you, Grovyle!”

Ash chose Grovyle, who was at the same level as Camerupt; despite the type disadvantage, he was not panicked at all.

”Oh, a Grass-type Grovyle? Ash, that is not a good move.”

Mura was very surprised by Ash’s choice, but since the advantage was with him, he didn’t care much, ”Camerupt, use Flamethrower!”

”Grovyle, use Leaf Blade!”

Facing the flames spewed by Camerupt, Grovyle’s arms glowed with white light, and it forcefully slashed through the oncoming fire.

Such a reckless fighting style shocked Mura, ”What?”

”Grovyle, use Double Team!”

Grovyle moved rapidly around Camerupt, creating a dozen clones to surround it.

Mura was not flustered and said calmly, ”Camerupt, use Earth Power!”

Upon hearing this, Camerupt spewed two trails of black smoke from the two large chimneys on its back, then lifted its two front hooves and slammed them heavily onto the ground.

With this stomp, the ground immediately produced a strong tremor, and Grovyle’s Double Team clones were dispersed by the vibration; Grovyle itself also took significant damage.

Seeing Grovyle forced to stop, Mura struck while the iron was hot, ”Camerupt, use Flame Vortex!”

”Grovyle, use Giga Drain!”

Ash chose to go head-to-head.

When the Flame Vortex enveloped Grovyle, the energy vines created by Grovyle also bound Camerupt.

Giga Drain activated, and a portion of Camerupt’s stamina was immediately drained; while dealing damage to Camerupt, Grovyle recovered some health, while the Flame Vortex dealt damage to Grovyle in return.

Back and forth, this was a game of mutual destruction.

Mura frowned, wanting to end the battle quickly, ”Camerupt, use Fire Blast!”

Ash reacted quickly, ”Grovyle, use Dig!”

Just as the Fire Blast was about to land on Grovyle’s head, Grovyle dug a hole and hid inside.

After the Fire Blast exploded, Grovyle arrived directly beneath Camerupt, burst out of the ground, and smacked Camerupt.
