Pokemon: Reborn As Ash, I'll Conquer Every League

Chapter 301: Chapter 301: Pokémon Contest: Rustboro City Contest

Chapter 301: Pokémon Contest: Rustboro City Contest

After some mutual introductions, Ash had a basic understanding of the situation regarding these two people.

The man was called Chaz, and his Pokémon was an Excellent-Advanced tier Venomoth. As a Coordinator, he had currently obtained one Ribbon.

The woman was named Janet, a Trainer of Beautifly, and she had already obtained two Ribbons.

The reason the Beautifly had flown onto May’s face was that Chaz’s Venomoth hadn’t controlled its strength well during their practice battle.

”In that case, Ash, doesn’t that mean you’ll be competing against Miss Janet and the others tomorrow?” May said.

”Eh? Ash, you’re a Coordinator too?” Janet and Chaz looked at Ash in surprise.

”Yes... Miss Janet, you are both seniors in this field, so please treat me well!” Ash said, taking the initiative to show humility.

For some reason, Janet’s Beautifly just loved sticking to May.

The group chatted for a long time. May learned a lot of knowledge about the Pokémon Contest from Janet and Chaz, and in the end, she even agreed to act as Janet’s assistant during the Pokémon Contest, helping the Beautifly complete its performance for the first screening.

In return, Janet gave May the notes she had kept on raising Beautifly.

The next day.

The Pokémon Contest Rustboro City Contest officially began.

Host: ”Sorry to keep you all waiting, the Pokémon Contest Rustboro City Contest is now officially underway!

For this competition, we have invited Mr. Contesta from the Contest Committee, Mr. Sukizo from the Pokémon Fan Club, and Nurse Nurse Joy from Rustboro City!

The three of them will serve as judges to strictly evaluate the Pokémon participating in the Pokémon Contest, and the winner of this competition will receive the Rustboro Ribbon!”

”Now, the first screening begins!”

The first person to take the stage was a Jynx Trainer.

In the waiting area, May looked at the real-time footage on the screen and exclaimed, ”That’s amazing!”

”May, although the first screening is very short, it’s very important! The first screening is the key to whether or not you can advance to the second round.

The first screening is evaluated and scored based on the showiness of the Pokémon’s moves, whether the designed performance highlights the Pokémon’s own charm, and the level of tacit understanding between the Pokémon and the Trainer,” Janet explained patiently to May.

May nodded and replied, ”Okay, I’ve got it, Miss Janet!”

The first screening proceeded quickly. In the blink of an eye, it was Chaz’s turn to take the stage with his Venomoth. The Venomoth’s performance showcased its Telekinesis, which was much more spectacular than the previous contestants, earning it a near-perfect score of 29.5 points.

Next was Miss Janet’s turn.

”May, I’m counting on you!”

Janet handed some frisbees to May, and she took a few frisbees onto the stage herself.

Janet’s performance utilized Hidden Power to illuminate the frisbee fragments shattered by String Shot, creating a sparkling background that highlighted the Beautifly’s own beauty.

In the end, her performance was perfect and she received a perfect score.

After two more random Trainers, it was finally Ash’s turn to take the stage.

”Ladies and gentlemen, the next contestant to take the stage is the double Champion of the Kanto Indigo Plateau Conference and the Johto Silver Conference—Mr. Ash!

This competition is also Mr. Ash’s debut in a Pokémon Contest. Let’s enjoy the performance of this strongest rookie Trainer!” The Host had practically revealed all of Ash’s background.

Of course, his words achieved their goal, and the arena instantly erupted.

”Damn, Ash’s fame is way too big, isn’t it?”

In the spectator seats, Brock watched as several pretty girls screamed Ash’s name frantically, his heart nearly shattering into pieces.

”Totodile, I choose you!”

Ash didn’t choose to send out Jigglypuff or Milotic; after all, pressure didn’t exist for him.

”Wani wani!”

As soon as Totodile appeared, it performed some soulful dance moves.

”Oh, what a lively Totodile, these dance moves are simply natural!” Contesta, one of the judges, exclaimed in admiration.

”I like this!”

Sukizo said his classic catchphrase.

”Totodile, use Water Gun.”

Totodile used Water Gun while breakdancing. Under Totodile’s movements, the water formed blue ribbons. Against the backdrop of the water, Totodile looked even more lively. The water rose to a certain height and fell, creating a rainbow in the sunlight...

After the performance ended, although Ash didn’t get a perfect score, he advanced tied for second place.

There were sixteen Trainers who passed the first screening of the Rustboro City Contest, including Ash, Janet, and Chaz, all of whom advanced.

After defeating two opponents in the second round, Ash met Chaz in the semi-finals.

”The battle time is five minutes. When time runs out, the one with the most points wins. Now, let the match begin!”

”It’s your turn to shine, Venomoth!”

”Totodile, I choose you!”

[Pokémon: Venomoth] [Type: Bug + Poison] [Gender: Male] [Level: Excellent-Advanced] [Ability: Shield Dust (Protected by scales, it is not affected by the additional effects of moves.)] [Potential: Pseudo-Elite] [Moves: Telekinesis, Poison Powder, Sleep Powder, Psybeam, Stun Spore...]

”Venomoth, Stun Spore!”

”Totodile, dance with Water Gun.”

Venomoth released Stun Spore, intending to cover the entire stage. Totodile activated Water Gun and twisted its body, instantly forming a Counter Shield, blowing away the Stun Spore while the water also hit the Venomoth.

Just that one hit made Chaz lose one-third of his points.

”Such a strong move. Is this the pressure of a league Champion?” Chaz’s expression became serious.

”Venomoth, use Telekinesis.”

”Totodile, use Aqua Tail!”

Just as Venomoth started using Telekinesis, Totodile surrounded itself with water and then launched itself forward, slamming into the Venomoth.

Boom!

The huge gap in levels meant Venomoth couldn’t withstand the impact at all; it was knocked out instantly and fell to the ground.

”Ash’s Totodile is also amazing!” May exclaimed in admiration.

Janet said in a serious tone, ”After all, Ash is a league Champion, and that Totodile’s level is very high!”

Soon, the winner of the remaining semi-final match was decided, and it was Miss Janet.

After a short break, Ash and Janet took the stage again.

”Go, Beautifly!”

”Totodile, let’s go!”

”Beautifly, use Gust!”

Having learned from Chaz’s mistake, Janet didn’t dare to start with Stun Spore; it might be ineffective and could even lead to a counterattack.

”Totodile, dodge and then use Icy Wind!”

The wind blades stirred up by Beautifly flew towards Totodile. Although the attack had just started, Ash’s points were deducted by one. However, when Totodile used its dance moves to dodge the damage, Janet’s points were deducted even more.

Totodile’s Icy Wind blew, and Beautifly shivered with cold. Its flight altitude and wing-flapping frequency dropped sharply, and Janet’s score dropped significantly once again.

”Beautifly, use Hidden Power!”

”Totodile, use Whirlpool to block it!”

Beautifly gathered energy throughout its body and fired five energy beams at Totodile.

Totodile opened its mouth and gathered a water vortex above its head. The five beams shot into the vortex and had no effect. After blocking the attack, Totodile slammed the water vortex at Beautifly.

With its movement speed affected, it had no ability to dodge at all. After being hit by the vortex, it was like falling into a washing machine, being swept away by the water.

When the move dissipated, Beautifly had already lost its ability to battle.

Just like that, Ash won first place in his debut Pokémon Contest, obtaining the first Ribbon of his life.
