Chapter 334: The Wishing Star of Seven Nights (2)

After leaving Butler’s territory, May couldn’t wait to ask Ash, ”Ash, why didn’t you refute what Mr. Butler said just now? Doesn’t Jirachi lack the ability to grant people’s wishes?”

”Jirachi indeed lacks the ability to grant people’s wishes, but some ambitious people don’t think so. Jirachi actually has another very special ability, which is that it can mobilize the special power of the Millennium Comet.

This man, Butler, is not simple. He was originally a member of Team Magma, but because his proposals weren’t recognized by Team Magma, he has now been purged by them. However, he is clearly unwilling to give up, which is why he has set his sights on Jirachi.

Otherwise, how could Jirachi, who should have been sleeping in Faunce, appear in a place like this?” Ash explained.

”If that’s really the case, Butler might not be a good person. Ash, I’ll go contact Officer Jenny right now...”

When Brock mentioned Jenny’s name, a lecherous expression appeared on his face.

”Brock, no need to rush. To catch a thief, you must catch them in the act. If we bring Officer Jenny to arrest Butler now, he’ll be released after being locked up for two days at most; there’s no point in that. I have a more fun way...”

Ash planned to pull a switcheroo on Butler.

Anyway, his Jirachi didn’t have the Doom Desire move and couldn’t mobilize the comet’s power itself, but its appearance was exactly the same as this one that hadn’t woken up yet.

After hearing Ash’s plan, May teased, ”Ash, you’re really bad!”

”It can’t be helped. That guy Butler is an ambitious person. If we don’t thoroughly finish him off, heaven knows what Pokémon he’ll go after in the future.”

The power of Legendary Pokémon isn’t something just anyone can covet, especially in the Hoenn region. Whether it’s a Legendary or Mythical Pokémon, none of them are simple beings. They basically all have special abilities, and the slightest carelessness could cause huge destruction.

If he didn’t send an ambitious person like Butler to eat government food for the rest of his life, Ash felt he would be doing a disservice to his identity as a League Inspector.

Having made up his mind, the group continued to stroll around.

They hadn’t walked far before May was attracted by a souvenir stall.

She held a strange pendant and said, ”This is so pretty!”

”This is the Millennium Comet’s amulet—the Star of Dreams,” the stall owner replied.

”The Star of Dreams?”

”Yes, it’s also called the Wishing Star of Seven Nights. During the seven days when the Millennium Comet arrives, fold a star while silently thinking about your wish every night. After seven days, your wish will definitely come true,” the stall owner bluffed convincingly.

”Is it really that mystical?”

”Of course. I’ve heard the Wishing Star of Seven Nights is related to a certain Legendary Pokémon, though I don’t remember the specifics too well.”

”Alright.”

Since the atmosphere had been built up to this point, May had no choice but to believe the stall owner’s nonsense.

She did indeed find the pendant pleasing to the eye, so even if it couldn’t grant wishes, keeping it as a souvenir was a good choice.

Night fell, and the amusement park turned off all its lights. The dark clouds in the sky dissipated, and a bright comet with a long tail appeared in the sky.

Looking at the comet in the sky, May held the newly bought pendant and made a wish.

Ash let Jirachi out.

As soon as Jirachi came out, it flew around the crystal twice, then shouted to Ash with a face full of joy, ”Ash, Ash, it’s about to wake up!”

Just as it finished speaking, the crystal lit up with a white light.

”Star... the star is calling me.”

An ethereal voice came from inside the crystal.

”This voice sounds just like Jirachi’s!” May exclaimed.

Jirachi turned to look at May and said excitedly, ”May, that’s because it’s also a Jirachi!”

...

Hundreds of kilometers away. Faunce, the place where Jirachi sleeps.

The earth’s veins seemed to sense that Jirachi was about to awaken.

Bursts of white light shone from deep underground. An Absol, seemingly having sensed an impending disaster, turned its head to look in the direction of Ash and the others.

After determining the source of the disaster, the Absol rushed toward the source without hesitation.

...

Under the surprised gazes of Ash and the others, the crystal floated into the sky. With a flash of white and purple light, a wild Jirachi appeared before them.

This wild Jirachi looked as if it hadn’t woken up yet; its eyes were tightly closed as it slowly descended from the sky.

Ash hurriedly reached out and caught it.

May compared the sizes of the two Jirachis. ”This Jirachi looks a bit small!”

”That’s only natural. Ash’s Jirachi has been with Ash’s mom, and the food it eats every day is super good, okay,” Brock said.

The wild Jirachi slowly opened its eyes. It looked at Ash innocently and said via telepathy, ”Ash!”

”Hello, Jirachi. I’m May,” and ”I’m Brock,” they said.

”Pika!” ”Eevee!”

The group greeted the wild Jirachi one after another.

Ash gave his Jirachi a look. Jirachi understood and immediately hid behind Ash.

The next second, under Butler’s instruction, Dian appeared before Ash and the others.

”Miss Dian, look, this is Jirachi.”

”I’ll go inform Butler now. Sorry to trouble you, Ash, but could you guys wait in my vehicle for a moment?” Dian said.

In order to keep the act going, Ash and the others went to the RV Dian had mentioned.

The two Jirachis hit it off immediately and soon started playing together.

”Jirachi, you two come here for a second.”

While Butler and Dian hadn’t arrived yet, Ash felt it necessary to let both Jirachis understand his plan.

He explained to his Jirachi, ”Jirachi, some bad guys have set their sights on its ability to use the comet’s power and intend to use it for evil deeds. Next, I need you to pretend to be it...”

Ash’s Jirachi was very interested in what Ash said. ”Catching bad guys? Okay, Ash!”

”Bad guys? What are those?” the wild Jirachi looked at the group, confused.

”Bad guys are people who like to do bad things. They...” Ash’s Jirachi explained earnestly.

Facing this innocent Pokémon, Ash didn’t want to explain too much, so he interrupted, ”Um... anyway, you don’t need to worry about what bad guys are. Just know that you need to play hide-and-seek with people other than us, and that’ll be fine.”

”Hide-and-seek? Great! Jirachi loves playing hide-and-seek!” the wild Jirachi said excitedly.
