Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 975: Chapter 975: Making It Clear

”Aunt Jiang, I’m afraid my brother won’t want me anymore in the future.”

Jiang Xinyu patted Jing Chu’s shoulder; she didn’t say anything further, but Jiang Feifei spoke up, ”Sister Jing Chu, you’ll always be my sister, right?”

Lv Jingchu nodded without hesitation, ”Of course. You all will always be my younger siblings.”

”Then why are you afraid Brother Guodong won’t want you?”

Jing Chu smiled wryly; she understood the reasoning, but her emotions couldn’t get past it.

”Jing Chu, Feifei is right, Guodong will always be your brother; there may be times he neglects you, but you should understand that you’ll also have a family one day. You can’t take your dad and brother with you, right?

The principle is the same. They are your family, your closest people; their happiness is your happiness.”

Jing Chu nodded, ”Aunt Jiang, I know, it’s just that I’m a bit scared. My brother gave up joining the army for me, came here for me. I know all of this.

No one in the world hopes for my brother’s happiness more than I do. I also hope my sister-in-law can bring my brother happiness.

I have a good understanding of Li Xue’s character and personality; she is a good girl. I will definitely get along well with her in the future.”

”Right, that’s how it should be. Our Jing Chu is a wonderful and insightful child.”

Guodong came in and saw everyone at home. Zhao Xiaoqiang winked at him.

”Aunt Jiang, thank you.”

”No need. Our Guodong is already a grown man, with a wife now; your dad isn’t here, and there’s something I must say to you: you have your own happiness, but you should never overlook Jing Chu.”

Guodong glanced at his sister sitting quietly to the side.

He walked over, took Jing Chu’s hand, ”Don’t worry, Jing Chu and I were born from the same mother; I won’t change towards her.”

”Good, I trust you. You’re a responsible good child.”

Jing Chu also held her brother’s hand tightly. Their hands clasped tightly together.

”Aunt Jiang, I’m thinking if Li Xue’s father agrees tomorrow, I’ll call my dad. I want him to come over once; Li Xue and I will get engaged first, that way there won’t be any gossip.”

Jiang Xinyu nodded with a smile, ”That’s a good idea; your plan is good. Have your dad come over and formally propose, host your engagement. That way, it’s truly legitimate.”

Guodong received Jiang Xinyu’s approval and smiled happily.

Old Yang looked at Guodong and smiled, ”You’ve got skills, quietly found yourself a wife.”

Guodong blushed deeply, ”Uncle Yang.”

”Yes, that’s quite capable,” Wei Kaiyun also said with a smile.

”By the way, tomorrow you’ll visit the girl’s family, so you need to prepare some gifts. Let me see what to bring.”

Looking at his wife’s excited demeanor, Wei Kaiyun felt like she was welcoming her own daughter-in-law.

”Pork will do; anything else would be unnecessary.”

”Pork? Isn’t that a bit lacking in solemnity?”

”What’s unsolemn about pork? You’re not proposing yet, just visiting for the first time. When it’s time to propose, that’s when you can worry.”

”That’s true. So, how about bringing over twenty pounds of pork? That should be enough.”

”That’s plenty; twenty pounds of pork is already quite a lot.”

”Guodong, tomorrow you’ll first go to the building and buy two bottles of wine and some pastries.”

”Got it.” Aunt Jiang is like a mother, arranging everything.

Li Yungui and Li Xue entered the house; Qu Xiaoli asked curiously, ”Why was Xue’er called over earlier?”

Li Yungui had already figured things out in his mind. Jiang Xinyu was right; knowing the background while keeping it under his watch, his daughter wouldn’t be wronged.

”Let Xue’er tell you; I’m going to wash my feet.”

Li Xue felt a bit embarrassed, but this was her second aunt, even closer than her own mother.

”I’m dating Guodong. He spoke to my second uncle today and asked me to come over.”

”What? Dating Guodong?” Qu Xiaoli was quite surprised. Mainly because her niece was too honest, yet the honest one was the first to start dating.

But Lv Guodong is pretty good; the young man looks good, there’s just his father at home, and he gets along well with his younger sister. It seems fine no matter how you think about it.

”Xue’er, do you fancy Guodong?”

Li Xue blushed and nodded.

”You’re not just attracted to his looks, are you?”

”Second Aunt!”

”I’m serious.”

Li Xue sat on the bed beside Qu Xiaoli, leaning on her shoulder, ”Second Aunt, I like his looks, like how seriously he attends classes, like how he takes care of his sister.”

Hearing this, Qu Xiaoli knew her niece was really taken. However, Guodong indeed seemed like a good child.

”When will you tell your dad? Since Lv Guodong spoke to your second uncle, he intends to make it public.”

”Guodong said he’d come home with me tomorrow in the car.”

”Good. That way, it’s a clear and open proposal.”

”Guodong said if my dad agrees, he’ll call his dad and arrange our engagement.”

Qu Xiaoli was most pleased with this; engagement ensures security.

”Alright, I reckon your dad won’t oppose.”

”Yes, my dad only cares that we like each other. That’s how it was with my eldest brother and sister-in-law.”

”Xue’er, you two are still young, so even after getting engaged, it’ll be years before you marry.”

”Yes, I know. We’ve decided to go to college together.”

”Good, Guodong seems to have good character, but you know, you can’t fully know someone, so keep an eye out.”

”Yes, Second Aunt, I trust him.”

Qu Xiaoli knew that her niece wouldn’t heed any advice now, but fortunately, they were here to watch over.

”Our Xue’er is all grown up, already has a special someone,” Qu Xiaoli remarked.

Li Xue just leaned on Qu Xiaoli’s shoulder, her mind sweetly filled with thoughts of Guodong.

Chaoyang returned, and Qu Xiaoli couldn’t help but feel displeased with her son; he’s grown yet hasn’t found a partner. Chaoyang was already seventeen, still not engaged. What is her fate? How come she hasn’t had a daughter-in-law yet?

Seeing the expression on his mother’s face, Chaoyang immediately understood, so he said a word and ran off.

”You see, your elder brother and second brother are deliberately trying to frustrate me, not looking for a partner.”

”Second Aunt, my elder brother is out, and my second brother will surely succeed in the future. You should find someone for him only if he’s willing.”

”I’m just worried. I’m afraid your second brother has too broad a mind.” Qu Xiaoli was indeed anxious; many people wanted to propose for Chaoyang, but the lad simply didn’t agree, and when asked if he liked anyone, he denied it.

But at seventeen, he really should be finding a wife, or the good ones will be taken. The more Qu Xiaoli thought about it, the more worried she became.
