Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 962: 962 Goes to the City

Li Xue looked at the second uncle and second aunt coming through the door and immediately ran over, ”Second uncle, second aunt, you’re here?”

”Yes, how’s your big sister-in-law? How’s the baby?”

”Second uncle, second aunt, I’m doing well.” Lihong quickly sat up.

”Lihong, we’ll come over in a bit, we’re covered in cold air.” Xiao Li immediately said with a smile.

Fengzhen returned with water, saw the eldest brother, sister-in-law, and Aunt Wu in the ward, and felt a pang of homesickness.

”Aunt Wu, big brother, sister-in-law.”

”Yes, Fengzhen, why didn’t you wear more?” Wang Wugu frowned at her niece.

”Aunt Wu, it’s not cold here. Why did you all come? Let me get you some water.”

Li Yungui and Xiao Li also came over to greet the sister-in-law, making Fengzhen feel a bit embarrassed.

There were only two tea mugs, one for Li Xue, one for Fengzhen, so they had to take turns drinking water. Xiao Li waited for a while before coming to Lihong’s bedside.

”Hmm, not bad, was it hard?”

”Second aunt, he was born pretty quickly, only two hours. It wasn’t that hard.”

”That’s because this child is considerate and didn’t make you suffer. How big was the baby when born?”

”Six pounds three ounces.”

”Quite big, a healthy boy.”

”Second aunt, your trip wasn’t easy, was it? It’s fine, I understand.” Lihong spoke earnestly, knowing that the first snow was heavy and another came on the sixth, preventing buses from running.

”It’s fine, Chaoyang drove a tractor here. After all, he’s Old Li Family’s first grandson, how could I, the second aunt, not come to see?”

”Second aunt, it must be very cold outside, right?”

”It’s okay, better than walking. Seeing you’re okay, I’m relieved.”

”I’m fine, I’m being discharged tomorrow. I wanted to leave today, but Honglin disagreed.”

”If conditions allow, staying another day isn’t bad. Where’s Honglin?”

”He went home to bathe, should be back soon.”

”Alright, brought you some flour, let the brothers unload it.”

”Xue, ask the doctor if I can be discharged today? Let’s go home together; it’s not as warm or comfortable here as at home.”

”Sister-in-law, better wait for my brother to return first.”

Lihong felt powerless, why is this man so stubborn? Home is much more comfortable, what’s good about staying here?

At this moment, Fengzhen was leading her family over too. Lihong cheerfully greeted her uncle, auntie, and elder aunt.

All three felt very satisfied. A sensible daughter-in-law like this would make future interactions easy.

All three praised the baby.

”Aunt Lu, why don’t you take uncle and the others home?”

”Okay, I should go back to cook. We’re having pig trotter soup, I already started stewing on the stove this morning.”

”Alright.”

Lu and his wife handed over thirty yuan, ”Niece-in-law, this is from the five uncles and your grandmother, a red envelope for the baby. We didn’t know what to buy, so add to the baby’s gifts once you’re well.”

”Thank you, uncle.” Lihong gladly accepted.

Xiao Li also took out twenty yuan, ”This is from me and your fourth aunt for the baby.”

Lihong also accepted with a smile.

At this moment, Honglin arrived, having already seen Chaoyang outside and knowing second uncle and stepmother’s family came.

After introductions, Honglin greeted everyone.

Li Yungui told Honglin to stay while Li Xue and the others return.

”Second uncle, let Xue’er stay, I’ll call my dad to come back for lunch.”

”Alright, we’ll head straight back.”

The group sat on the tractor and went back.

”Big brother, sister-in-law, why bring so much grain?”

”Aunt Wu will be here to take care of you; half is her ration, and there’s Li Family’s too, that’s why it looks like a lot.”

The three—Lu Family’s eldest, Li Yungui, and Chaoyang—moved grain back and forth.

Fengzhen held Wang Wugu’s hand, eyes red. ”Aunt Wu.”

”Alright, you’re grown-up now.”

Everyone went into the living room. ”Fengzhen, your house is really warm. Actually, it’s better for Honglin’s wife to recover at home,” Xiao Li said.

”Honglin isn’t willing.”

”What does he know? I’ll bring food over and tell them to go home tonight; this place is warmer than the hospital.”

A few women went into the kitchen to cook.

After sending off the relatives, Lihong stopped Honglin, who was about to leave.

”Ask the doctor, I want to be discharged today, it’s not as warm here as home.”

”But I feel safer at the hospital.”

”What’s there to be worried about? You go find Dad, then handle my discharge paperwork.”

Li Xue was nearby, giggling discreetly. Why was big brother so timid?

Li Yunqiao found out that the second brother and sister-in-law’s family came and immediately arranged the afternoon work to return home.

He arrived to see the tractor parked outside. Entering the living room, uncle and second brother sat on the sofa.

”Big brother, you’re here?”

”Yeah, you’re busy at work, no need to come back.”

”No problem, it’s your first visit, I had to come back.”

”Old second, Chaoyang where?”

”Went to the post office to mail a letter.”

”Alright.”

”Brother, this time the in-laws brought over big sister-in-law’s Aunt Wu, she’s here to help.”

”That’s great, big brother. I can’t leave work easily, Fengzhen is pregnant, and she’s not young. I worry about her, and the daughter-in-law just had a baby; having someone to care for them makes me relieved.”

”Don’t worry, Aunt Wu is the perfect choice. Fengzhen used to love following her around when she was young, she’ll be happy with Aunt Wu here.”

”That makes me feel at ease.”

Laughter came from the kitchen, Li Yunqiao knew he made the right decision. The second brother handled this well.

Women were in the kitchen steaming buns and making porridge.

”I really don’t find this gas stove convenient.” Wang Wugu complained; this pot is too small for so many people’s meals and needs several rounds?

”I also don’t like it; I usually use an iron stove. Luckily, our family is small; otherwise, just cooking would take all the time.”

The Lu Family’s eldest sister-in-law felt envious of her sister-in-law, who hadn’t experienced good life early on, but now appears fortunate.

The house was warm, clean, beautiful, her husband capable, now with their own child too.

The two were married for just over two months, yet a baby is already noticeable. What does this indicate? It shows the brother-in-law cares for the sister-in-law, which is great.

The pig trotters were tender on the stove. Once the buns were ready, they could deliver food.

Today, there were many at home for lunch, so they steamed a pot of buns and then made pancakes for speed.

Being skilled cooks made food prep quick, with all ready in an hour, and Chaoyang volunteered for food delivery.

He rode the elder brother’s bicycle and was at the hospital shortly.
