Chapter 991: Chapter 990: When Feng Qian and the Young Man First Met (Part 3)

Nicole smiled slightly, feeling much more at ease after the phone call, but just as she was about to hang up, there came a loud bang over the phone.

Nicole’s heart tightened, and her hand holding the phone inexplicably trembled. She nervously asked, ”Wade, what’s happening over there?!”

In response to Nicole, there was chaotic footsteps on the other end, followed by several more bangs. Nicole heard Wade’s weak voice through the phone, and everything seemed unusual.

”Wade! What’s wrong?! Speak to me! What’s happening?!”

Nicole jumped up, frantically and fearfully questioning Wade.

There was a pause on Wade’s end before a weak voice came through: ”Nicole... take good care of yourself... return home, back to the Seys Family... I might not be able to take care of you anymore...”

Wade’s voice carried a hint of groaning. A foreboding feeling washed over Nicole, her eyes turning red with urgency, ”Wade, I’m coming right away! Wait for me!”

Nicole grabbed her keys and rushed out the door, heading towards the bar where Wade worked.

Her fingers trembled as they held the phone, and just then from Wade’s still-connected phone came a yell: ”Jose Floyd! You son of a b*tch, if you have the guts, put the gun down!”

Gun—

Nicole’s body trembled violently.

That’s right—the bang from earlier on Wade’s end was a gunshot!!

”Why should I put the gun down? Solving it with one shot is so much better, saves me time!”

As Nicole ran, a cold and ruthless voice echoed in her ears. And just at that moment, with a loud bang, the sound from Wade’s end ceased, and the phone cut off.

Nicole ran for her life along the street towards the bar.

Nicole arrived at the bar, where there was an alley by the back door. She recalled hearing Wade say he was in the alley during the call. Gasping for breath, Nicole rushed towards the alley.

In her sight, in the dimly lit alley, Wade was leaning against the wall, sitting there, with a pool of blood beside him.

In the pale moonlight, that scene froze in Nicole’s mind, her entire world and support crumbled in an instant.

”Wade!! Wade!!”

Nicole dashed forward, holding Wade in the pool of blood, and wept bitterly.

Wade’s body was still somewhat warm, his face devoid of any color, the white shirt on his chest stained with a shocking red. Nicole trembled like a sieve, cold as snow.

”Wade, I don’t want to return to the Seys Family, you still have to take care of me! Wade, wake up! Wade!! Don’t leave me!!”

When Niki died, Nicole was not this desperate, but Wade, who had been with her and cared for her since childhood, passed away, delivering a tremendous blow to Nicole.

Wade died while working, and the bar paid ten thousand dollars to keep Nicole’s mouth shut about the shooting incident.

Nicole took the money and chose a grave site for Wade, allowing him to sleep eternally in the cemetery.

Nicole accompanied Wade at his grave for three days, accompanying him on his final journey, and then submitted a leave of absence from school, spending her days keeping watch at the entrance of the bar.

She was keeping watch—waiting for the person who killed Wade to show up!!

On the eighth day after Wade’s death, she staked out by the bar as usual and saw a few boys arriving together, with the one walking in the middle particularly eye-catching, like the moon surrounded by stars.

His solitary and cold eyes bore no emotion, and his indifferent face carried a sudden frost between his brows and eyes. His exquisite lips curved with a slight arc, yet gave off a sense of cold arrogance and cruelty, starkly contrasting with Wade’s gentle, spring-like demeanor....
