Chapter 149: Chapter 149: Arlo Seys, Warm as Light

--------

Ariel Morris made up her mind and truly forced herself to harden her heart.

First, she took a week off from school due to illness, just to avoid Arlo Seys. She directly blocked all of Arlo Seys’ calls every day, not answering them.

Only in the quiet of the night did she hold onto her phone, looking at Arlo Seys’ messages of concern one by one, and silently weep under the covers.

A week later, winter arrived too, and Ariel Morris’s sick leave ended, so she had to carry her backpack and go to school.

As soon as she entered the classroom, her classmates gathered around her as if they’d discovered a new continent, chattering incessantly.

”Ariel Morris, you’re almost catching up with Lady Tearful. That’s a long sick leave you took!”

Ariel Morris gave a faint smile and didn’t respond.

”Let me tell you, if you don’t come back, your God Seys is going to be snatched away!”

Ariel Morris’s fingertips froze, but she laughed lightly twice on the surface.

A classmate thought she didn’t believe it and immediately continued seriously, ”Really! Valeria Johnson confessed to Arlo Seys again, trying to take advantage of your absence to steal your man!” The classmate sized up Ariel Morris and then spoke excitedly, ”But your God Seys rejected her! Hahaha, Valeria Johnson is so awkward! She keeps losing in her battles!”

Ariel Morris laughed softly, staying silent as she listened to her classmates gossip. She opened her desk, preparing to put her backpack inside, but found breakfast inside—red date soy milk and layered pancakes.

A hint of surprise flashed in Ariel Morris’s eyes, and before she could ask who sent it, the gossipy female classmate wickedly unveiled the mystery: ”Ariel Morris, you are so lucky! So blessed! You must have saved a galaxy in a past life to have a boyfriend like Arlo Seys!”

A classmate immediately nodded in agreement, ”Yeah, yeah, I thought Chairman Seys being so aloof must be dull, but I didn’t expect him to be such a warm and romantic guy! He delivered breakfast to your desk every day. We told him you took a week off, so he wouldn’t have to deliver it. But guess what he said?”

Ariel Morris met the classmates’ glowing eyes, not wanting to create an awkward silence, so she played along, smiling gently as she asked, ”What did he say?”

The classmate clicked their tongue twice, ”Ariel Morris, you must feel both touched and sweet inside now, right? Your God Seys replied to us indifferently, saying, ’If she recovers and comes to class early, this breakfast will be just right.’ My god, although his tone was indifferent, the tenderness in his eyes was something you didn’t see! I think I’m seeing things. I actually saw such tender eyes from Chairman Seys! Our Chairman Seys was once famously aloof! Ariel Morris, you’ve melted an iceberg!”

The other classmates chimed in teasingly.

Ariel Morris raised the red date soy milk to her lips. Despite its sweet aroma, she felt a bitterness spreading on her tongue.

Arlo, with you being so wonderful, do you know how unwilling I am to let go?

--

After school in the afternoon.

Ariel Morris deliberately lingered until almost dark before finally shouldering her backpack to go home.

Just as she stepped out of the school gate, she saw Arlo Seys standing there, with an outstanding presence and an indifferent expression on his face. Beside Arlo Seys stood another girl.

The girl was smiling brightly, her eyes sparkling with colors, her face charming with a touch of playfulness. Ariel Morris looked at the pair standing several meters away at the school gate, her gaze gradually dimming, her pupils growing deep.

The girl standing with Arlo Seys was none other than her sister—Scarlett Morris.

Perhaps sensing her gaze, Arlo Seys suddenly turned his head to look at her from a few meters away. His expression changed for a moment, but Ariel Morris hadn’t had time to discern his emotions when Arlo Seys returned to his indifferent expression, making him hard to read.
