Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Chapter 244. A Battle to Defend Earth, Ascending to the Heavens

The world had its eyes on what was about to happen. The magnitude of this event eclipsed any previous events. Even Lu Yuan’s feat of killing Sages paled in comparison to it.

Everyone understood that the descent of starfield powerhouses was inevitable, as the Separation of Heaven and Earth would eventually disappear. In other words, Lu Yuan was merely attempting to delay the inevitable.

To make matters even worse, Immortals from many different starfields had decided to work together.

Everyone acknowledged that Lu Yuan was strong and that he was invincible on Earth, but the keyword here was ”on Earth.” Outside, could he really remain invincible? Especially against beings far more terrifying than Sages.

The members of the Celestial Court’s four divisions and the top echelons of Huaxia assembled at Mount Tai.

As the Celestial Court became even stronger, Elder Ji and the others began transferring portions of their authority to Zhu Qingyu and the others. The reason behind it wasn’t that complicated. They were simply aware that the government could not survive much longer in the current era.

Whether it was Ice Fairy, Chunyang, or any of the others, they were juniors the officials had recognized as exceptional in both character and talent.

Hence, Elder Ji and the other officials intended to hand over everything to them. The Celestial Court would become the government, and the government would become the Celestial Court.

As the leader of the Celestial Court, Lu Yuan would naturally be the supreme authority of Huaxia by then. Of course, the top officials of Huaxia had unanimously agreed on this.

They knew that the youngsters would inevitably replace the old generation, so it was better for that transition to start sooner rather than later.

Upon hearing of Lu Yuan’s decision to ascend to the moon and confront the beings from the Outer Cosmos head-on, they all decided to unite as one and support him.

Even those who disagreed with the decision and considered it far too reckless had to acknowledge that there was no better alternative.

If Earth wanted to avoid a catastrophe, it needed more time to grow.

Soon, Lu Yuan appeared, looking as calm as ever with nary even a trace of tension on his face. He knew that Elder Ji and the others would be waiting here. It was good. One last meeting before the battle would put everyone’s minds at ease.

”King Lu, do you really think you’ll... succeed?” Elder Yun asked, stepping forward with clear worry on his face.

He had originally intended to talk Lu Yuan out of it. The odds seemed far too slim. In his heart, he believed that Lu Yuan was the future of Earth’s humanity. As long as Lu Yuan lived, Earth would always have a chance, even if countless lives were lost in the meantime.

However, Elder Yun also knew that once Lu Yuan had made a decision, nothing could change it. In other words, all he could do at this point was feel worried.

”There’s only one way to know that,” Lu Yuan answered with a smile.

It was the honest truth. Even he didn’t know for certain whether he could pull this off. After all, his opponents were Immortals. Regardless, he believed that until the very end, no one could truly predict the outcome.

”King Lu, the invaders are already aware of your plan to ascend to the moon,” Elder Ji said, stepping forward to share the latest intelligence that they had gathered from outer space.

He produced some footage captured by satellites in outer space. The footage displayed powerhouses from the Outer Cosmos positioning themselves outside the moon, forming a blockade.

They had no intention of letting Lu Yuan anywhere near it. It seemed they were aware that the moon could be used to re-manifest the Separation of Heaven and Earth, which would stop their descent.

Lu Yuan stared at them through the footage. There were Sages among them, and there were quite a few of them at that. The Immortals, however, were absent. They hadn’t arrived yet, but he knew perfectly well that he would face them eventually.

”Understood.” Lu Yuan nodded. Then, he turned to face everyone before him.

Zhu Qingyu and the members of the Celestial Court’s four divisions were present. The Peacock King and the beast kings were there as well. However, he had nothing more to say to them, so he simply said, ”Wait for my return.”

Then, he turned around and walked away, but he stopped upon seeing Jiang Ningxian and Uncle Jiang.

”I told you I’d lend you a hand, and I won’t go back on my word,” Jiang Ningxian said. Then, her face turned solemn as he added, ”The Immortals haven’t arrived yet, but the Sages out there are already very troublesome.

”Some of them are probably Great Sages. Uncle Jiang will go with you and help you hold them back.”

The sheer number of powerhouses looming over Earth was staggering. Lu Yuan couldn’t handle them all alone, so Jiang Ningxian entrusted Uncle Jiang with several trump cards her elders had given her. They ought to be enough to match Great Sages.

Unfortunately, this was the most she could do due to the circumstances at hand.

Lu Yuan expressed his gratitude toward her. The two of them had agreed on this beforehand, and he had already accepted her offer. If he wanted to destroy the Immortals’ plan, going in solo was not an option. He had to succeed, as failure would make everything that followed extremely complicated.

”King Lu, we can depart at any time,” Uncle Jiang said. He looked very old, but his figure housed immense power. Like the others, the Separation of Heaven and Earth had significantly weakened him, and he was still recovering his strength.

With Uncle Jiang and the Jiang Clan’s support, Lu Yuan felt much more confident.

He turned to face the crowd one final time and nodded at them. Then, without hesitation, he took a single step forward and ascended toward the heavens.

The next moment, he transformed into a streak of light that shot straight into the sky.

Uncle Jiang was in no rush. He was a trump card, so he wouldn’t stick close to Lu Yuan. Instead, he concealed his presence and prepared to intervene at the critical moment.

Shortly after Lu Yuan’s ascent, every living creature across the globe heard of it.

”King Lu is actually going to the moon?”

”I really can’t believe it. I guess King Lu is still King Lu, after all.”

”But can he actually stop them? How is he even going to do it?”

Earth’s Awakened and ordinary citizens looked up. Some wanted to witness what was happening with their own eyes, but they were simply too weak to leave Earth, and if the battle was in outer space, it wouldn’t be visible from the ground.

Hence, they turned to the Internet instead. Huaxia’s officials had satellites in orbit and would undoubtedly release updates as soon as they were available. After all, today’s battle could determine Earth’s fate.

The beings from the Outer Cosmos were stunned by Lu Yuan’s audacity. They had assumed that the news was just a big load of nothing, so they were stupefied to see him ascend to the heavens.

However, what good was audacity without the strength to match it?

Could one man truly stop the inevitable descent of those from the Outer Cosmos?

Obviously, there was no way.

The Immortals themselves had started all this. They had already projected their ancestral planets on Earth, so how could a mere Venerable King Realm Awakened hope to stand in their way?

In fact, even a Sage wouldn’t be able to do anything about it.

The beings from the Outer Cosmos waited. Every single one of them patiently waited for the news of Lu Yuan’s failure.

At the same time, the beings from the Outer Cosmos assembled above Earth turned their gazes downward. Each of them emanated a formidable aura.
