Global Awakening: I'm the Only One Ready

Chapter 214. The Peacock King’s Request, Milky Way’s Boundary

Different from before, the Peacock King brought up his request in a deep and measured tone. His face bore unmistakable solemnity, a clear sign that he regarded what he was about to say with extreme seriousness.

Prior to this, never had he ever revealed such a grave expression.

The Spirit Monkey and Nine-tailed Fox King seemed to sense what was coming and immediately put away their playful demeanors as well.

”Speak your mind,” Lu Yuan replied with a nod.

For the Peacock King to display such emotions, it was only right that he treated it with equal seriousness.

”The Great Age had dawned upon us. The world power would be receiving a whole new change. When that happens, figures from the Outer Cosmos will descend upon this world,” the Peacock King said. ”I hope that no matter how the future unfolds, King Lu will not forget the alliance between Earth’s mutated beasts and humanity.”

The unspoken meaning behind the Peacock King’s words were plain as day.

In the time to come, great wars would inevitably erupt. Various clans from the Outer Cosmos would converge here and in the process, massive clashes would be unavoidable.

On Earth, though there were many kings among the mutated beasts, they were still no match for their Outer Cosmos’ counterparts.

Under such circumstances, survival would become far more difficult than before.

It was even possible that some minor conflict could prompt the Outer Cosmos beings to directly attack the mutated beasts on Earth.

The Peacock King’s request was simple. He hoped that when the time came, Lu Yuan would step in to offer protection.

At the very least, he wished for the living creatures of this Earth to not lose their footing amid the chaos of the Great Age.

He knew with full certainty that Lu Yuan was destined to become a true powerhouse in the future. In his heart, he had already viewed Lu Yuan as the backing of all mutated beasts. And now, he was paving a path for the future of every mutated beast.

”I understand what you are driving at,” Lu Yuan said with a smile.

He then continued, ”Many mutated Beast Kings have already joined the Celestial Court. Both mutated beasts and humans have long since become one with shared glory in prosperity, and shared loss in adversity. So, Peacock King, you need not worry about this.”

Previously, Lu Yuan had already come to a consensus on cooperation with the various mutated Beast Kings. And this time round, the Peacock King was raising an extension of that agreement—a hope that humans and mutated beasts would continue to stand together, fully casting aside past grievances.

Naturally, Lu Yuan had no reason to refuse.

In fact, the living beings of Earth, whether human or mutated beast, were fundamentally one.

”Thank you, King Lu.”

Upon hearing Lu Yuan’s reply, the Peacock King imitated a human gesture and bowed slightly.

With those words, he knew that at the very least, when a great crisis arrived in the future, Lu Yuan would not stand by and watch.

After all, this man was someone who could slaughter Sages while still at the Venerable King Realm.

The Spirit Monkey and the Nine-tailed Fox King exchanged glances with evident smiles on their faces. After a period of interaction, the three Beast Kings had, in essence, already taken Lu Yuan as their leader.

Now that the most important matters had been settled, it only reaffirmed that their earlier choice to cooperate had been the right one.

”Three days later, we will depart for Kunlun,” Lu Yuan said, no longer dwelling on the earlier topic.

Aside from them, the Golden-Winged Great Peng would be joining as well this time. Currently, it was still outside hunting mutated beasts with dragon blood to refine its lineage, and needed some time to prepare. Three days would be just right.

The Peacock King and the other two raised no objections. By now, they had essentially placed themselves fully under Lu Yuan’s authority.

Moreover, the three Beast Kings were deeply interested in Mount Kunlun as well.

After exchanging a few more words, Lu Yuan turned and left Jade Emperor Peak.

The Spirit Monkey and the Peacock King then began making their preparations.

However, the Nine-tailed Fox King wore a puzzled expression. She couldn’t help but ask, ”Say, does King Lu really not like this form I’ve taken? He barely even glanced at me. Should I think of a new look?”

”If you ask me,” the Spirit Monkey spoke, clearly intrigued. ”You should follow the style of our monkey clan. Monkeys aren’t that different from humans. Our aesthetics naturally align.”

As he spoke, he even took the opportunity to show off the golden fur covering his body.

Meanwhile, the Peacock King was left somewhat speechless.

He knew all too well that Lu Yuan’s will was firm and unwavering. How could he possibly be swayed by mere appearances?

At once, he urged the two to make proper preparations and reminded them that the Kunlun journey three days later would certainly be anything but simple.

Even if they couldn’t offer much help then, the very least they could do was ensure they wouldn’t become a burden.

***

As soon as Lu Yuan descended from Jade Emperor Peak, he headed straight back to his residence.

Through the Blood Bond, he had already informed the Golden-Winged Great Peng of the plan and urged it to return as soon as possible.

With its astonishing speed, this was hardly an issue and it certainly wouldn’t cause a delay.

However, just as he was about to return to his room, Jiang Ningxian appeared seemingly out of nowhere. She was seated in the courtyard as if she had been waiting for some time.

Upon seeing Lu Yuan, she rose immediately and spoke without any preamble, ”I intend to head to Kunlun with you, King Lu. May I ask if you would agree?”

The disturbance at Kunlun was naturally impossible to conceal from Jiang Ningxian. In truth, there was no need to hide it at all. Their cooperation had lasted for some time now, and mutual trust had already been established.

Still, Lu Yuan was momentarily taken aback. He distinctly remembered that Jiang Ningxian had never been particularly invested in such matters.

Even before this, whether it was the Eastern Sea Dragon Palace or the Guang Chengzi’s secret realm at Kongtong Mountains, both had drawn the attention of the Outer Cosmos beings, spurring them to send their own clansmen to investigate.

Yet, at that point, Jiang Ningxian had never commented about anything.

But now, when it came to Mount Kunlun, she had taken the initiative and sought him out personally.

Though curious, Lu Yuan didn’t probe further. He simply nodded and said, ”Naturally there’s no issue if you wish to go, Miss Jiang.”

Miss Jiang had requested to go along and she was also someone worthy of trust. Moreover, once they reach Kunlun, there might well be even more opportunities for cooperation.

”Great. Many thanks, King Lu.”

With the serious matter settled, Jiang Ningxian offered a sweet smile. Hands clasped behind her back, she turned and left the courtyard with light steps.

Lu Yuan shook his head slightly. As he returned to his room, he started thinking of her true purpose for heading to Mount Kunlun.

It certainly wouldn’t be simple. But well, he had no intention of dwelling on it. When the time came, he would know.

And just like that, time ticked by.

Outside, news of the abnormal disturbances at Mount Kunlun spread quickly.

Awakened were stirred into motion as their attention was fully on the famed mountain. Some even voiced their intent to go and take a look themselves.

The Land of Gods, the birthplace of countless Huaxian myths. If an upheaval had occurred there, it was bound to involve great providence.

After all, an Yinglong had once emerged from that very place.

Compared to the Kongtong Mountains, Mount Kunlun was far more alluring.

Even the Outer Cosmos beings could no longer sit still.

Before descending onto Earth, they had already made extensive preparations, and were fully aware of Kunlun’s significance in this world.

Coupled with their knowledge of the glorious ancient past of the Milky Way Starfield, they knew that minor inheritances might not amount to much, but this was Kunlun they were talking about.

Even if they were wary of Lu Yuan and knew full well that he was not someone to provoke, they ultimately decided to go and take a look.

What if they discovered something?

What if it allowed them to defy fate itself?

Hadn’t they crossed the depths of space precisely just to seek out such chances?

And in any case, even if they encountered that human, Lu Yuan, as long as they didn’t stir up trouble, there should be no problem.

Not only that, even those standing by in deep space soon received news of Mount Kunlun’s awakening.

Orders were issued and clansmen were urged into action.

But at the same time, they detected something else. At the boundary of the Milky Way Starfield, several vast powers were drawing near.

Just as per Lu Yuan’s anticipation, the upheaval at Mount Kunlun would become the dividing line of an era.
