System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Lu Cheng woke up a few minutes late, not feeling particularly moved, but quickly started cutting the meat after getting out of bed.

Mu Nanshu stir-fried it into chili fried meat, while the two little ones headed to the living room with their noodles.

Mu Nanshu slurped and chuckled: ”I usually have the nanny clean up. Do you think I’m lazy and not diligent enough?”

Lu Cheng chuckled: ”My wife is a little rich lady, not pampered; if that’s the case, then burning incense for blessings would be enough.”

”Not using the money means being a miser!”

Mu Nanshu’s family can afford a nanny, so why would she clean the house every day herself?

Got no hard feelings?

The money earned from business isn’t dirty money!

”Next time, let’s ask the nanny to clean again!~” Lu Cheng raised both hands to support Mu Nanshu’s approach.

”The main thing is, I don’t want to waste my time on these things, though we can do it well ourselves too.” Mu Nanshu felt slightly reassured.

Lu Cheng comforted: ”You now make me stay in the operating room, doing debridement and suturing every day, which is easier for me and improves the quality of patient care.”

”Having someone like Professor Zhong, a National Master, go to a local clinic for tendon sutures is a blessing for the patients there.”

”But for Professor Zhong and the hand surgery field, isn’t it a great extravagance?”

”Do your own thing, regardless of other people’s opinions.”

”Even if my parents say you’re wasteful and don’t know how to manage a home, you can reason with them.”

”Some concepts, I can accept because I’ve read a lot of books and have different experiences.”

”My parents only managed to send me to study through savings.”

”As for uncle and aunt, they noticed that the cost of my studies wasn’t even enough for their regular mahjong losses.”

”Everyone has their own experiences.”

”My parents find it hard to understand this extravagance, while uncle and aunt can understand my parents’ frugality.”

Mu Nanshu slowly nodded without obsessing further: ”Is it tasty?”

Lu Cheng knew Mu Nanshu was waiting for compliments, so he slowly nodded while looking at Mu Nanshu: ”Tender and meaty…”

Mu Nanshu suddenly felt a bit shy, glared at Lu Cheng, and continued eating noodles.

After washing the dishes, the two drove separately to their workplaces.

...

Lu Cheng also arrived at the trauma center of the emergency department at around seven and found Professor Qu Daowen.

Today, Qu Daowen was supposed to be on duty with Du Hua’an and He Dongsheng.

Du Hua’an was on sick leave, so only He Dongsheng was following him.

Moreover, since Professor Zhong Junyun and others would be visiting to observe Lu Cheng’s operations, Lu Cheng called Professor Qu Daowen last night to ask him to take a break today.

Lu Cheng proactively asked Qu Daowen to rest, and naturally, Qu Daowen was amenable to it after asking for the reason!

Qu Daowen, however, disagreed and insisted on coming to the department to ’shadow’ the work.

”Teacher Qu, why are you here so early today?” Lu Cheng noticed Qu Daowen arranging tasks for He Dongsheng.

Qu Daowen replied: ”The professors from Union Hospital have arrived, so we cannot be negligent.”

”Certain details need to be prepared in advance; I’m worried you may lack the experience.”

”Chen Fang hasn’t left yet!~”

”Chen Fang, did you sort out the fruit I asked you to book?”

”The office, do another sweep…” Qu Daowen seemed like he was hosting guests in his own department, paying attention to all the details.

Lu Cheng felt that compared to Professor Qu Daowen, his ’hospitality skills’ were just at a beginner level!

Lu Cheng might seem cultured but really just learned some superficial tips from old foxes.

Lu Cheng simply proceeded with his own tasks.

...

By eight o’clock, Director Huang Haibo specially rushed over from the internal medicine department to the trauma center.

The top professors from Union Hospital, National Master-level figures, were people Xiangzhou People’s Hospital could hardly invite.

Indeed, there was not such a National Master-level giant in the whole of Xiang Province.

Even Professor Tan from Xiangya Hospital, although notable in Xiang Province, does not have ”National Master” status nationwide!

Such people number only four or five in the entire hand surgery field.

Only four or five exist in one era.

It’s not that more are not desired, but more simply cannot emerge!

Qu Daowen found Lu Cheng again, urging him: ”Director Lu, when speaking to Professor Zhong and others later, remember to be polite!”

”Don’t overlook the little things.”

Lu Cheng saw Director Dong’s tense expression and wondered whether it was always he who wronged ’Zhong Junyun’!

And not Zhong Junyun failing him!

Given Professor Zhong Junyun’s level of regard, his ignoring or stepping over him seems justified.

However, Lu Cheng quickly realized.

I am Lu Cheng. I am myself, so I should represent myself and be responsible for my own joys and sorrows.

Around eight twenty, Zhong Junyun and Professors Xie Xiao, Liu Guocheng, and others arrived.

Zhong Junyun did not contact Xiangzhou People’s Hospital; he came just in a private capacity.

Thus, he did not cause a stir within the hospital.

After pleasantries, Huang Haibo proactively said: ”Professor Zhong, Professor Xie, Professor Liu, and Professor Dong, your presence brightens our emergency department, though I fear our hospitality may fall short.”

”Please bear with us.”

”I’ve already confirmed with Director Lu; if you aren’t leaving at noon, let’s have a simple meal together.”

”I’ve asked Director Lu to make arrangements.”

Huang Haibo was already clear on his working relationship with Lu Cheng.

While Huang Haibo is the director, Lu Cheng could choose to ignore him anytime.

Of course, Huang Haibo hopes Lu Cheng pays attention to him, so naturally, he gives face.

”Thank you Director Huang and Director Lu for your thoughtful arrangements.” Zhong Junyun calmly agreed while appearing imposing.

He certainly was not just a regular fifty-something old man, an ordinary professor.

He might visit Huaxi, Kyoto Union, or Huashan Hospital and still be treated the same!

At National Master level, holding down a hospital solo is quite expected!

Put another way, if all other National Master-level people left clinical work, then it’s solo holding a country!

Lu Cheng quickly responded: ”Teacher Zhong, we’re at the trauma center here, and we only handle emergency surgeries, so we can’t arrange things ahead.”

”But I’ve managed to arrange for an injured patient to come over, probably around nine twenty.”

”When the time comes, I hope Teacher Zhong can give some direction.”

”Director Huang, I’ve notified the medical department to process the surgical license application.”

”The medical department’s feedback is that Union Hospital is approving the application.”

”I’ll get a reply soon.”

For a top professor to operate in Xiangzhou People’s Hospital, procedures must be followed, even if nobody would disagree, they must be followed.

”As long as you’ve arranged it, Lu Cheng, that’s fine. I’m from internal medicine, so this time, I’m just handling logistics!”

”Rest assured, I’ve got the internal medicine department’s shifts all arranged, focusing on logistics support.”

”If the professors have any requests, just let me know.” Huang Haibo had no experience hosting such a level of professors, so he had to ask Qu Daowen about a few details.

In fact, Qu Daowen had only seen them before, never hosted such top professors.

”Food and drink are enough, Director Huang. Dr. Lu is here, sorry for making you go through extra trouble.”

”But if you require anything, just speak up.” Zhong Junyun had a vigorous aura.

He started by asserting one thing: Lu Cheng is my man, and coming here is a training process.

Huang Haibo couldn’t handle the stance: ”No, no, Professor Zhong, Director Lu is very capable!~”

”His joining our hospital is a blessing.”

”Young people might sometimes act rashly. Director Huang, you don’t need to cover for him much.”

After saying this, Zhong Junyun glanced at Lu Cheng and continued: ”Lu Cheng belongs to our hospital, so we also have someone here keeping an eye on things.”

”Previous unpleasant matters shouldn’t happen in the future.”

”Xiao Lu’s nature is like this, doesn’t want to cause trouble, hence doesn’t want to make a fuss.”

Huang Haibo’s heart nearly jumped to his throat: ”Professor Zhong? Are you suggesting?”
