System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”I’m at home.” Lu Cheng replied.

Yao Xin immediately responded, ”Wait for me, I’m coming over right away!”

”What you’re trying to do is a bit stuck, at least for our hospital, it’s a bit stuck. We don’t have any prior handling experience.”

”I’ll call Dean Luo right away.”

A professor from a top-tier hospital comes to a specialized department, and the department head can handle it. That’s the usual practice.

But if it’s a team of professors coming for a free clinic, and the dean or deputy dean of your city-level hospital doesn’t show up, damn, people from your own hospital will criticize you to death!

Moreover, for this kind of event, the State’s Health Commission has to send someone to attend, even accompany the event throughout.

A team of professors staying at Xiangzhou People’s Hospital for a research project?

What kind of operation is this??

When did Xiangzhou People’s Hospital become so affluent?

No!

No, then it must be handled carefully, see if you can manage this load.

Don’t let the pot and the stove explode by then.

Lu Cheng understandably said, ”Dean Yao, you just need to tell me how to find you. If Dean Luo is available, I’ll come along with Dai Linfang to report.”

Yao Xin is Yao Tiesheng’s relative, and can be considered Lu Cheng’s support at the hospital.

A reliable support doesn’t mean you can always rely on it carelessly!

”You’re coming over?”

”Hmm, okay, I’ll arrange it.”

”I’ll ask Dean Luo.” Yao Xin said while pacing.

”You need to give me some time; I need to sort things out properly.”

”Thank you, Dean Yao.” Lu Cheng replied with a smile.

”Now’s not the time to be polite like a monkey; I know why you’re calling.”

”We’re all so familiar, keep many things to yourself; no need to be overly polite.”

”Xiao Lu, you’re my lucky star!” Yao Xin lamented.

This isn’t the ’trouble’ Zhang Tiesheng brought him, damn, this is a benefactor.

Yao Xin is the Deputy Dean, overseeing Surgery.

Any advantage in Surgery can be attributed to his leadership. If these things are under his helm and the performance doesn’t fall on him, Yao Xin can quit administration early.

Of course, Yao Xin isn’t primarily thinking about performance right now.

He’s thinking about real development!

As a hospital leader, he considers the development the hospital brings and the convenience of seeing a doctor for the people in Xiangzhou.

”Uncle Yao, you’re too kind. You’ve also taken good care of me.” Lu Cheng subtly redirected the address.

In the hospital, during reports, Dean Yao cannot be disregarded.

But privately, calling him Uncle Yao is much more intimate.

”You kid… you, wait for my word.”

Yao Xin thought seriously and asked again, ”Can I bring someone over?”

”With what you’re doing now, if it succeeds, you might be lacking people.”

Lu Cheng, of course, understood Yao Xin’s implication, but he replied, ”Uncle Yao, I have a separate agreement with Brother Zhang…”

”He will first come to our lab next month.”

”If he directly goes to clinical practice now, he’ll be confused, so we can’t rush it.”

Lu Cheng certainly remembered Zhang Tiesheng, but Zhang Tiesheng directly rushing to the department? On what basis?

On the basis of being a Deputy Chief Physician at Long County People’s Hospital?

What kind of international joke is that?

”That’s true, fine.”

”You have private arrangements, so I won’t ask much.”

”Oh, by the way, remember to send invites, don’t miss electronic ones if not paper ones?”

”If I miss your wedding, I’ll beat you up.” Yao Xin, as the Deputy Dean old fox, has a grasp of social nuances on all fronts.

...

Lu Cheng knew this matter wasn’t going to be easily resolved.

However, since he had the idea, he had to take steps to implement it.

First, clear the paths within the hospital.

Lu Cheng and Dai Linfang were only carrying simple fruit platters in their hands.

Couldn’t come empty-handed, but this time, it wasn’t necessary to bring particularly expensive gifts—bringing fruit was just right.

The meeting location wasn’t at someone’s home nor the hospital office, but at a tearoom in Qianzhou.

The Ancient City was bustling, with bright lights.

But the tearoom’s tea room was perfectly serene.

When Lu Cheng and Dai Linfang pushed the door open, inside was Luo Yong and Dean Yao frowning and blowing smoke, seemingly discussing something.

As Yao Xin stood up, he said, ”Dean Luo, Lu Cheng has arrived. This is Dai Linfang, a PhD from Xiangya Hospital, and also the Deputy Director of the Emergency Department.”

Yao Xin thought Luo Yong didn’t know Dai Linfang, but as soon as Dai Linfang entered, Luo Yong proactively stood up.

Instead of greeting Lu Cheng first, Luo Yong cheerfully said, ”Xiao Dai, good evening.”

Dai Linfang never engages in low-level affairs, especially regarding social interactions.

The expression on Yao Xin’s face was slightly stiff, resembling Lu Cheng’s, with a faint glimmer in their eyes, but it quickly passed as if nothing happened.

Dai Linfang was neither nervous nor restrained, he politely said, ”Dean Luo, this time I’m accompanying Director Lu from our Trauma Center to report to you.”

”He’s my leader, and also my big brother!”

Luo Yong certainly knew Lu Cheng, having just met last month.

”Dr. Lu, how are you?”

”But you, you’re making me a bit troubled.” Luo Yong, while biting his cigarette, shook hands with both Lu Cheng and Dai Linfang.

”Yao Xin, you sit too, none of us are outsiders.” With one sentence, Luo Yong took center stage.

Although this meeting was organized by Yao Xin, Luo Yong had now taken over.

Yao Xin said with a smile, ”You brought fruit too, there are watermelons… Dean Luo… chilled.”

Luo Yong, already seated, slightly raised his head, saying, ”Then let’s try some, it’s just right to cool the anger.”

Lu Cheng noticed Dai Linfang smirking and committing the ”teaching” point from Yao Xin to memory, with his photographic memory intrigued by this minor detail.

Lu Cheng was unaware of how much Yao Xin and Luo Yong talked, but he straightforwardly initiated an explanation: ”Dean Luo, Dean Yao, thanks to the care from the hospital and hospital leaders, our Trauma Center has developed rapidly recently.”

”Currently, it also has gained some reputation, but given the substantial patient volume, we’ve thought about self-development beyond external assistance, so we’ve devised some solutions…”

Lu Cheng made some simple introductions.

Luo Yong had already picked up the watermelon; he genuinely loved eating watermelon.

Although eating elegantly, he was absorbed, yet his mind wasn’t tangled up: ”Dr. Lu, you don’t need to talk about all the preliminary introductions, just tell us your ideas.”

”What you’re proposing is a risk factor.”

”To be frank, I can’t hold it down, just afraid it’ll explode!~”

A couple of professors from top-grade hospitals can certainly be settled by the hospital.

But if more come and group together, who knows what kind of reaction will occur?

If a fight breaks out and someone gets hurt, how would that be accounted for?

Professors may not have actual duties, but in top teaching hospitals, professors have high reputations and social status, even going to Sha City, can’t compare to a dean’s standing.

”Besides, Dr. Lu, are you sure you can invite them?”

”Will it happen that we report this, only to end up with all excitement for nothing?”

Too many times in reality have champagne bottles popped prematurely, only to end in disappointment. Doing things like this often will tire out leaders, subordinates, and even surrounding onlookers.

Lu Cheng understood Dean Luo’s concerns.

His spontaneous idea affected more than just him, making him deeply contemplate before he said, ”Dean Luo, I present a humble reason.”

”It’s that I’m currently an attending physician working at a city-level hospital.”

”The task we aim to do is topic discussion.”

”Based on that, the ones we can ultimately invite are pure-minded individuals, all intent on technology or research.”

”Without this intention?”

”Then, they’d be too ashamed to even consider coming.”

Lu Cheng first stabilized the basics.

Why hasn’t Luo Yong gone to the township hospitals to ask for training from a certain attending there?

Two reasons.

First, currently, Xiangzhou hasn’t seen any township hospital doctors with better skills than him.

Second, even if there were, Luo Yong perhaps couldn’t humble himself enough to seek training.

Not caring about face is one thing; truly being able to drop it, honestly analyze oneself and seek learning is a rare trait!

”Two Deans, although my rank is low, and my title is low, not all of these are disadvantages.” Lu Cheng finished, waiting for the two Deans to consider.

Luo Yong finished eating five pieces before putting the melon down, wiping his mouth with a napkin, then said, ”Yes, the goal is solely for technical improvement.”

”How will you manage it?”

”Who will manage it?”

”If someone refuses to cooperate, how will it be managed, what’s the contingency plan? All reliant on self-discipline?”
