700 Chapter 700 - 348: Team Assembly! 2026-10-25

Luo Yong’s expression became peculiar at that moment.

This matter, even with his several decades of experience as a backdrop, was quite challenging to fully comprehend: ”So, can you be sure you can maintain the initiative?”

”What if I say, I can’t control it and disagree?” Luo Yong began to assert his authority.

Lu Cheng’s smile was unwavering: ”Dean Luo, then I’ll just do it in July.”

It’s currently May, so there are two months left.

”Why July?”

Lu Cheng replied: ”The contract expires next month.”

Luo Yong wouldn’t remember minor details like when Lu Cheng’s contract expires.

”Ahem!” Lu Cheng’s straightforward response choked Luo Yong.

He was very sure now that the most restless person was Lu Cheng, not the potential expert team coming in.

These expert teams were actually drawn in by Lu Cheng himself.

Moreover, Lu Cheng had stated, if you don’t let me proceed, once my contract expires, I’ll just go somewhere else to do it.

Without a renewed contract, what’s the point of any negotiations?

As for why the contract wasn’t renewed, Luo Yong had looked into it; someone had previously raised this issue with Lu Cheng.

But it was futile; Lu Cheng’s willingness to run the trauma center was needed by the State People’s Hospital and also required by Luo Yong personally.

Luo Yong suddenly had nothing to say and, after taking a deep breath, raised his teacup: ”Xiao Lu, you’re really giving me a tough problem here.”

”You’re somewhat of a minor leader now; you should understand the feeling when there’s a disruptive element.”

Lu Cheng nodded; he can indeed empathize with certain aspects faced by leaders now.

But after all, Lu Cheng is not like Luo Yong in leadership, so he laughed: ”Dean Luo, how can I be a disruptive element?”

”Dean Yao knows I’m the most reliable; I can be counted on.”

”Moreover, I want to invite professors here to collaborate on projects, which is also for the development of Xiangzhou’s medical technology.”

”Especially the long-term, solid stabilization of the trauma center.”

”Dean Luo, you wouldn’t really think that after my contract expires, I’ll just leave without a care, right?”

”By then, the professors we invited for the trauma center will have to return, and then only Dai Linfang, Chen Fang, and the others will support the trauma center.”

”We’ve been colleagues, and I wouldn’t bear to do that...”

Luo Yong said: ”Isn’t this something you shouldn’t be considering?”

Lu Cheng said: ”Every journey leaves a trail; I, Lu Cheng, am indeed very selfish, but I haven’t forgotten to leave something behind for my hometown within my capabilities.”

”Previously, thanks to the care from my superiors at my former unit, I was well taken care of, incapable of standing alone, so I wouldn’t talk about sentiments.”

”Adults don’t rely on sentiments; this is something you taught me.”

”Professor Qu Daowen will leave, Professor Dong Liumeng will also leave, many people may go, including myself.”

”Money can only maintain a relationship for a while; only benefits can keep a relationship lasting longer.”

”As long as the project remains, more skilled people will be willing to come here to work on the project and teach along the way.”

”They’re happy to take something from the experience; we gain convenience, acquire technology, have a learning model, and extend the learning period.”

A glint appeared in Luo Yong’s eyes: ”You’ve calculated all this long ago?”

Lu Cheng quickly shook his head: ”Not at all, Dean Luo, you’re overestimating me. I’m just looking for a way to solve my own predicament.”

”Both Dai Linfang and I are too exhausted and want some people to help.”

”But those who can help us are of too high a caliber.”

”Giving first and taking later, a technique in chess, I just happened to use it in our situation.”

Luo Yong asked again: ”Why are you willing to leave these projects in our hospital?”

”Taking them away would be more beneficial to you personally in the future, wouldn’t it? If you go to a new unit without any beneficial output, the days won’t be as good?”

Lu Cheng explained: ”Dean Luo, technological beginnings are just the beginning; development is a separate process.”

”Starting at one unit, developing at another, doesn’t conflict.”

”Just like the limb reattachment in our Hand Surgery, the cradle was at Modu Sixth Hospital, but the subsequent better development was at Huashan Hospital.”

”No matter what, the State Hospital nurtured me. Within my ability, giving back without affecting my future is just reasonable.”

”Paying it back is about intention, not appearances.” At this moment, Lu Cheng appeared very mature.

Mature enough to seem somewhat incongruent with his age.

But it’s actually fitting. After all, Lu Cheng is still a young person with some passion and sentiment.

Otherwise, Lu Cheng could have easily done nothing and just left when the time came.

Lu Cheng’s priority to promote to deputy high is only a bargaining chip to support the trauma center.

Seeing Luo Yong remain silent, Lu Cheng continued, ”Secondly, Dai Linfang is my friend, my colleague, and my brother. We’ve worked together.”

”I cannot let him work for nothing, only to find I’ve taken everything when the time comes.”

”That’s not my character.”

Lu Cheng’s response takes realistic considerations, trauma center concerns, friendships, and personal future into account.

It’s not necessarily the best choice for himself, but it’s generally beneficial in many ways.

Having spoken all this, Luo Yong felt relieved and nodded slowly: ”Alright, then. The hospital is willing to support you in doing these things.”

”We’ll also come forward personally to host the experts and professors you invite for the projects and provide subsidies in terms of hardware facilities.”

”For example, dormitories, surgical equipment for the trauma center, operating rooms setup, etc., will all receive assistance.”

”If you need the unit to communicate with higher-level hospitals, we are also ready to engage at any time.”

”However?”

Luo Yong emphasized: ”The thing you’re doing sounds somewhat unconventional; we don’t dare to bring it up to higher-level hospitals voluntarily; it can only be brought up by you.”

”Anybody else proposing sounds inappropriate!”

The State People’s Hospital wants to invite a bunch of associate professors to work on clinical projects and ”assist”?

Such an application wouldn’t even get past Xiangzhou.

Isn’t that shameless?

Is it just your hospital that needs support, and no other hospitals need it?

Lu Cheng replied: ”Dean Luo, I’m also doing my best to communicate with some teachers, but I must first ask the parents’ opinions.”

”If even the parents disagree on this matter, I will have no confidence at all.”

A strong dragon doesn’t suppress a local snake; if Lu Cheng doesn’t properly manage local relations first and then invites people, he’ll be creating trouble for himself.

”Can this method be replicated?” Luo Yong suddenly asked again.

That was a field familiar to Dai Linfang, who then smiled: ”Of course, Dean Luo.”

”As long as our Xiangzhou People’s Hospital breaks through a world-class first or treats a world-first disease, it’s definitely replicable.”

Yao Xin discerned the sarcasm in Dai Linfang’s words and immediately shouted: ”Shut up!”

But unexpectedly, Luo Yong was not angry and instead nodded amiably: ”One case is still progress.”

”If the trauma center develops well, it can uphold our hospital’s reputation.”

”Emergency departments are the fundamental face of a hospital.”

”Yao Xin, didn’t you say it’s hard to recruit experienced people for the trauma center in the emergency department?”

”Coordinate with the Surgery and Emergency departments to draft an application, and I’ll try to negotiate with the State to see if we can improve the recruitment benefits.”

”We can cover the financial compensation ourselves; any other benefits, leadership will have to provide.”

For the trauma center to develop, good instructors are essential, and a better student team is needed.

For instance, finding a few additional local employees like Lu Cheng would be incredibly beneficial.

However, since they couldn’t retain Lu Cheng, they dare not think about finding another like him.

Even more serendipitous matches like Dai Linfang would be welcome…

”Alright, I’ll ask Director Huang of the Emergency Department to draft it.” Yao Xin agreed.

As a vice dean, he wouldn’t personally do such application paperwork.

The Emergency Department isn’t finished yet!
