System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Spring Breeze Courtyard, Warm Wind Forest.

It is very hot in Han City in May, but not in Ji City.

Willow catkins by the pond, evening lanterns, nice scenery, serene and unique, the dishes are also exquisite.

Lu Cheng is sitting, ears pricked.

Beside Lu Cheng, Mu Nanshu wears a formatted smile, lips pursed, appearing as a graceful lady.

She is just a companion today, so she acts the part and does not speak.

Across from Lu Cheng, four people are seated.

Xie Yuan’an, Zhong Junyun, Xie Xiao, Liang Guocheng.

Union Hospital’s hand surgery department has three senior professors and chief physicians, all present.

Professor Liang Guocheng’s face is quite broad, appearing plump, but in fact, he is not overweight.

Now, Liang Guocheng’s voice tightens: ”Basic skills are the true path, the foundation for advancing surgical treatment for new conditions.”

”The higher the level of basic skills, the higher the baseline for surgery, and no matter how you explore treatment for new conditions, it won’t lead the patient’s situation to extremes.”

”Currently, various operational concepts are emerging, but only a national master’s actual skills can flexibly switch between these concepts.”

”Mastery in operation, with ease and control.”

”Director Zhong, in this aspect, you have the most say!”

Union Hospital’s hand surgery department is strong, but the person who truly brought it to such strength isn’t Xie Xiao and Liang Guocheng.

Xie Xiao and Liang Guocheng are just part of the current makeup of the hand surgery department, acting as the backbone.

The one who truly elevates the comprehensive strength of the hand surgery department nationally is a national master like Professor Zhong Junyun.

Zhong Junyun’s cheekbones expand horizontally, forming a T-shaped steel structure with the vertical nasal bone, forehead lines deeply etched, speaking seriously:

”When fundamental skills reach this level, just the operations alone can reach the realm of the inexplicable.”

”Xiao Lu originally had great talent, I can no longer use words to constrain his future.”

”Lu Cheng, watching your operation video, it seems you’ve achieved a conglomerate level in debridement, right?” Zhong Junyun tries to keep his tone calm.

Lu Cheng doesn’t hold back either, lightly nods: ”I think so, I’m not entirely sure, but I feel my operations have improved.”

”I’ve already invited other teachers to help verify it.”

”Only after getting the final results can I report truthfully.”

Zhong Junyun nods: ”Then Dr. Lu, do you have specific plans for your future career scope?”

Zhong Junyun no longer calls Xiao Lu but instead addresses him formally as Dr. Lu.

Even if Lu Cheng’s future achievements will be significant, now Zhong Junyun can still converse with Lu Cheng on equal terms, and even many years hence, will still be able to do so.

However…

Now that Zhong Junyun chose to regard Lu Cheng as an equal dialogue partner, it caused a subtle shock but not surprise in Xie Xiao and Professor Liang Guocheng.

Of course, Lu Cheng has plans, and he has consistently been moving in these directions: ”It’s likely based on the limb preservation surgery for injuries I’m currently doing, transitioning to rehabilitation of damaged functions, and then exploring other areas of functional reconstruction.”

”And some emergency surgeries for organ damage.”

Zhong Junyun knows Lu Cheng tends to be vague, so he straightforwardly asks: ”Dr. Lu, have you considered joining our hand surgery department for full-time development?”

Lu Cheng’s current plan is to move towards emergency surgery, rather than just being a hand surgeon.

Lu Cheng also does not want to use morals to bind Zhong Junyun, actually, from Zhong Junyun’s perspective, Lu Cheng was indeed just a promising investment before.

Looking back from now, the basic skills level of ordinary people can be quite an eyesore.

The gap is too big!

”Professor Zhong, I did intend to, but personally, due to my experiences and what I’ve seen and heard, I don’t think the current trauma center is bad.”

”Moreover, it’s out of interest, so I alone want to cancel the agreement.”

”I must sincerely apologize to you, Teacher Zhong.”

Having said so, Lu Cheng stood up and bowed very respectfully to Zhong Junyun.

His words are sincere, which means Lu Cheng’s attitude is firm in breaking the previous ’agreement’ with Professor Zhong.

Xie Xiao, hearing this, seemed a bit flustered: ”Lu Cheng, you shouldn’t decide your future plans so hastily.”

Unexpectedly, Professor Zhong Junyun raises a hand proactively: ”It’s fine, as long as there’s a path forward, a sense of purpose within.”

”Go where your heart leads you!”

”Only this way can you achieve greatness.”

”Being constrained by others, turned into words rule, would only twist oneself, making true clarity of mind hard.”

”May Dr. Lu create more treatment schemes in the future, providing a lifeline for more patients.”

Professor Zhong Junyun’s expression relaxes, his courtesy echoes more generously.

Of course, Professor Zhong Junyun genuinely considers Lu Cheng as someone on the same level now.

Mastering fundamental skills is difficult.

This is an undisputed fact in the industry.

Why is everyone placing so much emphasis on fundamental skills, knowing their difficulty?

It is to achieve an extraordinary level with fundamental skills, then use the high baseline characteristic to explore new disease treatments.

Then, Zhong Junyun further says: ”I trust that Dr. Lu won’t hold any personal bias against our hand surgery department because of me?”

Lu Cheng shakes his head: ”Not at all, Teacher Zhong.”

”Hand surgery department has been the foundational mentor on my learning path.”

”If it weren’t for the generous teachings from the teachers in hand surgery, there wouldn’t be the Lu Cheng of today.”

Reflecting on his development, Chen Song’s willingness to provide opportunities was crucial, indeed studying at Union Hospital was opportune.
