Super Gene Hunting Ground

Yang Xiao planned to make contact with the tribals the next time the base delivered Crystal Stones to them.

”Station Chief Dai, I’ve been wanting to ask you a question. With the advanced technology of Witch Star capable of creating highly intelligent and powerful robots like the Iron Tower Warriors, why not manufacture mining machinery? Wouldn’t that greatly increase mining efficiency?”

”Hehe, your question is actually something we considered a long time ago. There are two issues. Witch Star is different from Earth. All of our technology is centered on enhancing Genetic Evolution. Of course, interstellar spaceships are another direction.

A large amount of manpower and resources are poured into these two areas, and our technology level in civilian and industrial areas is not so advanced.

Furthermore, Witch Star is a planet that venerates mystic fantasy civilization. The supernatural powers derived from Genetic Evolution are revered by everyone. There are constant wars between empires and planets, and a vast amount of resources are consumed in wars.

Everyone is tired of war, but it’s impossible to stop; otherwise, you could very likely be wiped out by others.

You must be wondering, since we can create highly intelligent Iron Tower Guards, why not make more?

Do you know how much a regular Black Iron Level Iron Tower Guard costs?”

Dai paused for a moment, looked at Yang Xiao, and answered his own question:

”500 million Crystal Coins!

The manufacturing cost for a Silver Armor Guard is 1 billion Crystal Coins, and for a Golden Armor Guard, like those you saw in Karachi City, it takes 10 billion Crystal Coins worth of resources to complete,

and moreover, due to the special materials required, their numbers are extremely limited.”

”Does Witch Star lack people?”

Unable to hold back, Yang Xiao blurted out the question that had been on his mind.

Hearing Yang Xiao’s question, Dai was taken aback and fell silent for a few seconds.

”Actually, it’s not entirely a problem of lack of people. On Witch Star, Genetic Evolvers have more important things to do. As for mining, this kind of simple labor, most people are unwilling to do it, so we have to look for people from other planets to mine.”

Yang Xiao did not continue to press the issue as he knew it was not as simple as Dai had stated.

Yang Xiao handed over the drawings of the mining shaft automatic conveyor belt designed by Lao Jiu to Dai.

”Station Chief Dai, take a look at this. Does Witch Star have similar equipment? If not, we’ll need to gather our own materials to build one.”

Dai took the drawings and said:

”Witch Star doesn’t have similar machinery, but you should be able to find some of the materials and parts needed. The rest you’ll have to assemble yourselves. However, transporting these materials from Witch Star by spaceship won’t be cheap.”

”This is also one of the reasons why mechanical mining hasn’t been adopted on Purple Origin Star, isn’t it?”

Dai nodded,

”You’ve been down the mines. Those Purple Origin Crystal Stones are very small and grow within the purple ore. Mechanical mining can easily bury the Purple Origin Crystal Stones in the slag, making them hard to find and actually require more labor to extract.”

”Alright, first get someone from Witch Star to make an estimate for the parts and materials required by the drawings, and also the cost of shipping them to Purple Origin Star. Once we have a plan for mining in the tribal areas, we can start placing orders.”

”Okay.”

”In a few days, it’s the scheduled day to deliver Purple Origin Crystal Stones to Ah Bao’s tribal village. I want to take this chance to have face-to-face contact with Ah Bao and talk about mining.”

”Okay.”

Yang Xiao returned to his room and took out the mysterious little black bottle.

The monster Corpse collected that day in Karachi City had already been put into the bottle and long since melted into liquid.

He has been drinking a little each day for the past few days, and the energy brought by over a hundred Emperor Level Mutant Monsters is immense.

Up until today, after finishing his drink, Yang Xiao’s Four Attributes have each increased by 2 points.

Strength 72, Agility 72, Defense 72, Wisdom 72.

There is also an issue that has been troubling Yang Xiao, which is the matter of the Beast Soul.

He originally thought that upon evolving to King Level, he would activate his Beast Soul, but unexpectedly, a progress bar appeared in the Beast Soul section. It seems to change every day; as of today, the progress bar shows ”Beast Soul Activation 68% complete.”

”Damn it, what kind of Beast Soul is this, and why is activation so troublesome?”

...

Ah Bao’s tribal village of wild men.

The fifty kilograms of Purple Origin Crystal Stone obtained from David last time have all been ground into powder and scattered into a nearby pond.

Monsters coming to drink water are now increasing in number; monsters from dozens of kilometers around all come to this pond to drink, and the fish in the pond are also gleefully vigorous, occasionally some large fish tens of meters long breaking the surface.

Tanaka Jiao from Ice Wolf Island, for his efforts in advising the wild men which led to a temporary victory over David, he and his four Ice Wolf Island companions also earned the right to survive in the wild men’s tribal village.

Now, Tanaka Jiao has his men from Ah Bao’s tribe hunt monsters every day, desperately consuming blood and meat, trying to quickly enhance his Genetic Evolution Ability.

However, those monsters that drank water dissolved with Purple Origin Crystal Stone typically need a cultivation period of over half a year before the effects become more noticeable.

Just like the wild men, the monster blood and meat Tanaka Jiao consumes daily are very limited; they cannot, like Yang Xiao, dissolve the bodies of hundreds of huge monsters into liquid and finish drinking it within a day.

Tanaka Jiao is anxious inside, wishing to accelerate his Genetic Evolution rate as fast as possible.

”Chief Ah Bao, we have a better method to enhance Genetic Evolution.”

”What method?”

”Exchange Crystal Stones for Genetic Potions from the Genetic Store. Those Evolution Potions can be directly consumed, which is more effective and direct than eating the flesh and blood of monsters.”

Ah Bao paused for a moment, then said:

”The people at the base are very bad; they never give us Genetic Potions, no matter how much we ask, they refuse to give them to us.”

All miners from Witch Star who come to mine on Purple Origin Planet have a common understanding: they must not sell Genetic Potions to the wild men, for if the wild men evolve as quickly as they do, it will pose a severe threat to their control over Purple Origin Planet.

”If they don’t give them to us, we’ll threaten them and smash all their mines.”

Tanaka Jiao said sinisterly.

”Isn’t that a bad idea? We’ve just got 50 kilograms of Crystal Stones from David every month; that’s already quite good. If we insist on getting Genetic Potions, aren’t we risking tearing our faces off and falling out with them again?”

Ah Bao isn’t so greedy. More importantly, through decades of interactions with the people from Witch Star, it’s become very clear that they would never provide the wild men with Genetic Potions.

”How would we know unless we try? I said before to ask for more Crystal Stones, didn’t they ultimately agree?”

Tanaka Jiao prompted.

That wild man Ah Mu, whose arm was severed by Yang Xiao in the mine, also chimed in:

”Chief Ah Bao, I think Tanaka Jiao is right, how do we know if we don’t try?”
