Super Gene Hunting Ground

When Junior Sister first spoke those words to Yang Xiao, he was only a freshman in high school.

In his sophomore year, Yang Xiao suddenly had an epiphany and dropped out of professional Go training. Instead, he focused on liberal arts to prepare for admission to a good university, pursuing a different kind of life.

He didn’t want to spend his life confined to a Go board. He liked soccer, basketball, ping-pong, running, traveling, and the feeling of hanging out and having fun with friends.

But those who learn Go are destined to spend most of their time over the board, facing black and white stones, living a rather monotonous life.

When Yang Xiao initially decided to give up Go, he was actually swayed by another subtle thought.

Junior Sister only tutored Yang Xiao for one year, and she stopped mentoring him when he was a sophomore.

His new teacher was a middle-aged man which Yang Xiao found too dreary to learn Go from.

He became accustomed to sitting opposite Junior Sister, beholding her bloom-like beauty and tranquil elegance, and her faint scent of perfume.

Every smile and frown from Junior Sister made him feel comfortable, even being scolded or pinched by her occasionally was a feeling of happiness.

He was a freshman, right in the midst of adolescence!

”Where is my Junior Sister?”

Yang Xiao went straight to his registered master, Chen Guohua, also Junior Sister’s father.

Chen Guohua glanced at Yang Xiao and said indifferently:

”She’s gone abroad.”

Hearing this at that time, Yang Xiao felt a faint sense of loss, as if something had been drawn out from his heart.

Then, facing that serious and pedantic middle-aged master, who constantly smoked, baring his yellow teeth, as opposed to the celestial-like Junior Sister, Yang Xiao found it unbearable.

It just happened that he ran into several bad influences among his friends. They predicted that Yang Xiao’s rest of life would be spent alone with the black and white stones, lonely and joyless.

Yang Xiao thought it made sense – what excitement was there to have a life with only Go?

So, he gave up professional Go training and concentrated on preparing for college.

Nobody knew about this inner journey. At the time, Yang Xiao’s dad just felt baffled, wondering why his son suddenly gave up Go training?

...

The fat man in front of him, in Yang Xiao’s eyes, was at best slightly above sixth rank in skill, and below fifth rank in intelligence. He paled in comparison to Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao rated himself above the fourth rank in understanding the mysterious.

Yang Xiao consecutively revived three groups of dead black stones, connecting three regions into one.

To Qin Lu, the fat man, and others, Yang Xiao’s moves were like bringing the dead back to life, forcibly reviving black stones that were on the brink of death.

It was tolerable for others, but the fat man felt like he had thorns on his back, breaking into a cold sweat, his Divine Sense unstable, his spiritual power violently trembling.

Following that, Yang Xiao advanced unstoppably, decimating the fat man’s white stones, a total and utter defeat.

The fat man sweated profusely, trembling all over, experiencing such immense spiritual pressure for the first time.

The pressure was like a tidal surge, leaving the fat man gasping for air.

Finally, the spiritual pressure was too much for the fat man, he broke down, let out a long sigh, and a white stone fell onto the board.

The fat man stood up, bowed deeply to Yang Xiao and said:

”Sir, your Go skills far exceed mine, you are outstanding in both offense and defense, I am fully convinced! May I have the honor of knowing your name?”

Yang Xiao smiled and replied:

”I’m not well-known. My name is Yang Xiao. I stay at the Valley Sunset hotel. If you need to find me, you can look for me there. I must be going now.”

The fat man was stunned, then bowed respectfully:

”Master Yang, I wish you well. I will definitely visit you someday.”

”No worries. Oh, by the way, what about the gambling money you owe me?”

Yang Xiao took out his Black Gold Card and flashed it.

The fat man hurriedly said:

”Your payment, immediately.”

He personally took the transfer device and transferred 1 million Crystal Coins to Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao, without hesitation, nodded his head and turned around, leaving the Chess Art Hall with Qin Lu in tow.

Just as they stepped out of the Chess Art Hall, they saw David, Elder Qin, and an unfamiliar middle-aged man hurrying over.

”Master Yang, are you alright?”

Yang Xiao was taken aback for a moment and replied:

”I’m fine, very good, actually. I was just about to head back to the hotel. What brings you here?”

It turned out that when the two guards accompanying Yang Xiao saw the chubby man forcefully take him away, they feared an accident and followed Yang Xiao, while the other went to look for David at the hotel. By the time David got back to the hotel, it was already quite late.

After hearing the situation, David, not knowing who the other party was, only assumed that they were a force to be reckoned with based on the presence of the Golden Armored Warrior and hurried over with Elder Qin after seeking help from a familiar Guard Captain of Karachi City.

”Did they give you any trouble?”

”Not at all. It was just a couple of games of chess, and I even got a bonus of three million Crystal Coins.”

Qin Lu, excitedly said,

”Brother Yang’s chess skills are truly extraordinary. In that endgame, whether Yang Xiao chose white or black, he won either way. The opponent didn’t stand a chance, haha!”

David was stunned for a moment and then said:

”Since everything’s okay, let’s hurry on our way. Karachi City is full of hidden dragons and crouching tigers; everyone must be careful about safety!”

David then thanked the Guard Captain who had come to help, handing him a Crystal Coin accounting card. The Guard Captain accepted the card and left.

That accounting card contained 50,000 Crystal Coins.

Before coming, David had prepared several accounting cards with varying amounts of Crystal Coins, specifically for networking with some superiors.

Yang Xiao and Qin Lu followed David and the others back to the Valley Sunset Hotel to rest.

...

After Yang Xiao had left, the chubby man and his two companions stared at the chessboard for quite some time, hoping to gain some insight.

”Damn it, who is this kid? How can his chess skills be so advanced?”

”Yeah, during our game, my spiritual power felt an immense pressure, look at all this sweat on me.”

”How do his skills compare to our boss?”

”I don’t know. At least I can’t compare since I can’t understand either the boss’s or his play.”

”What shall we do now?”

”What else can we do? We’ll have to report back to the boss immediately and let him decide.”

”And this chess game? Did either of you remember it?”

”Do you think you remembered it?”

All three shook their heads.

”If we go back like this, we’re sure to be scolded. If the boss asks how the opponent solved the game, especially the situation with the black pieces breaking through the white, it’s going to be a tough one.”

”So what do we do? Are we supposed to memorize the entire game right here?”

The three men tilted their heads in thought when the chubby one suddenly smacked his forehead,

”I got it.”

”What can we do?”

Without saying a word, the chubby man sent the other two to keep an eye on the chessboard, while he ran to the front desk of the Chess Art Hall and asked the receptionist for some glue for sticking things together.

Returning to the hall, they stuck the black and white pieces in their original places on the board.

Seeing this, the old man and the middle-aged man burst into laughter.

After sticking the pieces properly, they placed the chessboard into a Space Ring and left the Chess Art Hall.
