Super Gene Hunting Ground

Since this morning when Yang Xiao was taken away by the fat man, David and Qin Lu couldn’t focus while playing chess. After playing two rounds, they stopped playing altogether.

Both speculated various possibilities, feeling uneasy and worried about Yang Xiao encountering any mishaps.

In the afternoon, David became even more restless, frequently stepping out of the inn to check the surroundings, and later simply sat with Qin Lu in the lobby playing chess, occasionally glancing outside.

When the spaceship landed in front of the gate, they had already rushed outside. As they saw Yang Xiao descend from the spaceship, a weight was lifted off their hearts.

After the fat man left on the spaceship, the two hurried over to Yang Xiao, excitedly asking:

”Yang, Master Yang, are you alright?”

Suddenly, David realized how much he cared about Yang Xiao.

Of course, this concern was more like fearing a borrowed treasure might not be returned.

Qin Lu, being young, admired Yang Xiao more and hoped to receive some help from him.

Yang Xiao smiled and said:

”Thank you for your concern, I’m fine.”

Yang Xiao had not eaten dinner yet, so the three went to a nearby restaurant with local specialties, ordered a private room and some delicious dishes to eat.

”Master Yang, was it the Jino City Lord who invited you over?”

Qin Lu asked curiously.

”I went to the City Lord’s mansion, but I guess the person I met was not the City Lord.”

David was taken aback and said:

”Why are you so sure? You haven’t met the Jino City Lord before.”

Yang Xiao briefly described the scene of the meeting and said:

”Being a City Lord, Jino City Lord must be known by many. If he wanted to meet me, he would not have his back to me nor would he hesitate to tell me his real name and let me see his face.

But this middle-aged man kept his back towards me and didn’t introduce himself. I guess he didn’t want to reveal his identity.”

After listening, David looked puzzled and thought for a moment, then said:

”It’s strange. They took you to the City Lord’s house, but the person you met was not the City Lord. Who could this person be?”

”Did you defeat him? He must have been surprised, right?”

”Yes,” Yang Xiao nodded.

”Then did he say anything else to you?”

”He told me to leave Station Chief Dai and follow him, and he promised to help solve the issue with my temporary ID.”

Yang Xiao said indifferently.

Upon hearing this, David felt a chill in his heart and looked at Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao laughed and said:

”I refused him!”

”What?”

David exclaimed, looking at Yang Xiao, feeling relieved.

This was his biggest worry; he now regretted bringing Yang Xiao to Karachi City.

With Yang Xiao’s chess skills, almost everyone would extend an olive branch to him. Although Yang Xiao is a miner from his base and cannot be forcefully taken away by others, the influential figures could still make requests.

Moreover, David’s base is not privately owned but dispatched by the Witch Star Sect, meaning all the miners under him belong to the state.

For instance, Jino City Lord could easily arrange something nominally to transfer Yang Xiao away.

”You refused him, then what did he say?”

”He didn’t insist on keeping me, after all, a coerced melon isn’t sweet, right? Haha!”

David followed with a bitter laugh.

After finishing their meals, Yang Xiao, David, and Qin Lu returned to the inn to play chess.

After each played two rounds with both men, Elder Qin came back.

Elder Qin glanced at the three men, then suddenly lowered his voice and mysteriously said:

”Brother Dai, do you know what major news I heard today?”

David rolled his eyes at Elder Qin and chuckled:

”How would I know what great news you’ve heard? I’m not a worm in your stomach.”

”Prince Three has arrived.”

”Prince Three? Which Prince Three?”

”Do we have several third princes in the Great Dragon Empire? Have you forgotten the third prince known as the War God? Have all these years on the Purple Origin Star turned you into a fool?”

Suddenly startled, David’s eyes widened as he looked at Elder Qin,

”Really?”

”Why would I lie to you? I went to see a few old friends today, had dinner together, one of them is the deputy captain of the guards from the Jino City Lord’s family, and he said it himself, the third prince has already been here for several days.”

”What is the third prince doing coming to the Purple Origin Star all of a sudden?”

”I don’t know that, but for sure, he didn’t come here for fun.”

A flash of insight suddenly struck David’s mind, and glancing at Yang Xiao, he said:

”I know who that person you played chess with today is!”

”Are you talking about the third prince?”

David nodded.

Elder Qin immediately looked at Yang Xiao in surprise.

Qin Lu quickly explained the situation to his father, Elder Qin, who after hearing it, slapped his thigh and said:

”That’s right, it must be him, Master Yang, you’re in luck, good days are ahead for you now that the third prince takes an interest in you.”

”I rejected him though; had I known he was the so-called third prince, I would have accepted his offer.”

Elder Qin looked at Yang Xiao with immense regret,

”You actually refused the third prince’s invitation?”

”Ah? What’s the matter?”

Yang Xiao appeared indifferent, though deep down, he never really considered following the third prince. With his current cultivation level, following such high-ranking individuals might not yield much respect or key positions.

He did not want to prematurely enter into the power storm center of Witch Star; lacking the capability to safeguard himself, any turbulence within the center of power might result in his early demise.

If given another choice now, he would still refuse the third prince’s invitation.

Why serve as a servant to the third prince when he can enjoy being David’s teacher?

Moreover, a gut feeling told Yang Xiao that the secret of the wild men at the mining base utilizing Purple Origin Crystal Stones would eventually be uncovered by him. He was extremely curious about the direct use of crystal stones to feed monsters and always vaguely felt he could find a shortcut to enhance his Genetic Evolution speed.

Elder Qin, always scheming for shortcuts, felt a deep regret thinking that if Yang Xiao had become someone close to the third prince, it would mean an additional connection for him.

In the following days, Yang Xiao spent his days playing chess with David and Qin Lu at the Delicate Chess Art Hall, where one could seemingly hear various kinds of news.

Gradually, news that the third prince of Great Dragon Empire arrived at Karachi City began to spread, and everyone speculated about his motives.

”Maybe the third prince is here for tourism on Purple Origin Star?”

”No, I think he might be here for the upcoming Go tournament.”

”Impossible, the Go tournament on Purple Origin Star is a minor event, not worthy of the third prince’s visit.”

”It’s said that the frontline is tense right now in the Great Dragon Empire; could he be here to expedite the collection of Purple Origin Crystal Stones?”

”Yeah, I think this guess makes sense.”

Three days later, the first round of the Go tournament began.

Over two thousand participants gathered at Karachi City Square, each received a number, and according to their numbers, sat at their respective chess tables.

After the first round, over a thousand winners progressed to the second round in the afternoon.

After the second round, only about six hundred people remained.

Both David and Qin Lu successfully passed the second round.

The next morning, another elimination round was held, and over three hundred winners advanced to the next round.

In the afternoon, another round of eliminations occurred, and both Qin Lu and David were knocked out.

For David, making it to the top hundred was his best result in any tournament so far and he was very satisfied.

After two more days of elimination rounds, the final 20 contestants made it to the finals.

In the previous elimination rounds, just before the first match, Jino City Lord and Grandmaster Xue Rong symbolically spoke a few words, then they no longer appeared.

Once the finals started, suddenly a few more individuals joined the podium.

Jino City Lord, Grandmaster Xue Rong, and three others, five people in total, took their seats on the podium.

In the center of the podium, sat a dignified middle-aged man with an authoritative aura.

Yang Xiao, David, Qin Lu, and Elder Qin all stood among the spectators when someone suddenly whispered:

”The man sitting in the center of the podium is our Great Dragon Empire’s War God, the third prince, right?”

Yang Xiao took a closer look and felt a vaguely familiar sensation.
