Super Gene Hunting Ground

David and Elder Qin commenced a Weiqi match, engaged in intense competition.

Qin Lu started a Weiqi game with Yang Xiao.

Within thirty minutes, Qin Lu was utterly defeated by Yang Xiao’s skills, sweating profusely, only then realizing why David had acknowledged Yang Xiao as his master, instantly admiring Yang Xiao’s Go skills to the point of utmost respect.

On Elder Qin’s side, the situation also took a negative turn. It used to be David losing to him, but this time he stood no chance, ultimately losing to David.

”Station Chief Dai, impressive indeed. Your Go skills have improved a lot after a few months, and I reckon your spiritual power must have increased significantly too, right?”

David chuckled and replied,

”I’ve made some progress, all thanks to Master Yang.”

”Ah, you’re so lucky to have found a Weiqi master among the miners; I’m envious, jealous, and resentful!”

After a few games, the group stood up and left the Treasure Chess Art Hall.

Upon exiting the Chess Art Hall, Elder Qin and his son treated Yang Xiao with the utmost diligence, their attitude extremely respectful. They called him ”Master Yang” repeatedly, no longer daring to address Yang Xiao by his name.

David decided to pay a visit to Grandmaster Xue Rong. Although he no longer needed the Grandmaster for playing chess, the man was after all a prominent figure in the Purple Origin Star’s Weiqi community, and certain courtesies were due.

Elder Qin mentioned he had matters to attend to and accompanied David.

Qin Lu suggested showing Yang Xiao around. Since everyone was staying at the same hotel, they could return together later.

David left two guards with Yang Xiao and took two with himself before leaving.

Qin Lu seemed quite familiar with Karachi City, pulling Yang Xiao along to stroll through the streets, which suited Yang Xiao just fine, having such a guide with no particular destination in mind.

As the two strolled and chatted, Yang Xiao also asked about the situation on Witch Star.

Passing a blacksmith shop, Yang Xiao suddenly stopped and asked Qin Lu,

”Why do your swords have such a strong killing aura, while the weapons I brought from Earth lack it?”

Saying so, Yang Xiao took out a longsword with a +10 Strength Attribute from his Space Ring and handed it to Qin Lu.

Qin Lu felt the sword and laughed,

”Your weapon is a Genetic Attribute Weapon; it can increase your Strength Attribute. We usually use weapons inscribed with magical Runes. These don’t enhance your attributes, but they possess powerful Magic Killing Auras, making them much stronger than ordinary Attribute Weapons.”

”Where can one purchase such weapons?”

”You can buy them at a blacksmith shop.”

Qin Lu pointed at the blacksmith shop in front of them and said,

”However, these weapons need to be custom-made, and you must have the official citizenship of Witch Star to purchase them, Master Yang,”

He left his sentence hanging, but the implication was clear.

As a slave, Yang Xiao could not order a Magic Killing Weapon.

Yang Xiao smiled lightly and said,

”No matter, I’ll get one made later. Station Chief Dai is helping me apply for a temporary Identity Card.”

”A temporary Identity Card won’t enable you to order a Magic Killing Weapon.”

Qin Lu, speaking his mind without much filter and scratching his head, said awkwardly,

”Don’t mind me, Master Yang. That’s just the rules. However, I do have a workaround.”

”Oh? What’s the workaround?”

”A citizen of Witch Star can order two Magic Killing Weapons. I already have one, so I can simply order a second one under my name and present it to Master Yang as a welcome gift.”

”How could I accept that?”

”There’s nothing to feel awkward about. I like making friends, and we hit it off well upon meeting. I will surely be requesting Go lessons from Master Yang in the future, so I hope you won’t find me a bother.”

”Not at all, Brother Qin is charming, intelligent, and talented. For someone of my current status, a friend like you is truly beyond my reach.”

”Brother Yang, don’t put it that way. Although our Witch Star has a strict social hierarchy, we also highly value talent. To be honest with you, the first Grandmaster in the chess scene of our Great Dragon Empire is from another planet.

Her Go skills are incredibly high, so she was designated by our Emperor as the number one Grandmaster in the chess circle; she holds a very high status throughout the entire Great Dragon Empire.”

Yang Xiao was taken aback and asked:

”How old is this Grandmaster, and is it a man or a woman?”

”A woman, and quite young and beautiful at that.”

”Have you met her?”

”Brother Yang, you jest. How would I qualify to meet her? I probably won’t have the chance to see her in my entire life.”

”Ah, right, Brother Qin, did you just say your country on Witch Star is called the Great Dragon Empire?”

”That’s right, what about it?”

”How big is Witch Star? How many countries are there?”

”Witch Star is vast, with hundreds of countries, both large and small. The Great Dragon Empire is just one of them. Master Yang, aren’t you aware of these facts?”

”Oh, I’ve only recently arrived from Earth, so there’s a lot I don’t know.”

”Let’s first go to the Blacksmith Shop to custom-make weapons, and I’ll tell you more about it later.”

Yang Xiao nodded and followed Qin Lu into the Blacksmith Shop.

Entering the Blacksmith Shop, it was nothing like what Yang Xiao had imagined. Instead of any smokiness or fire, it resembled the offices inside five-star buildings on Earth.

The receptionist at the front desk greeted Qin Lu and Yang Xiao very politely.

”Good day, gentlemen, are you here to repair weapons or to order custom weapons?”

”I’d like to order custom weapons.”

”Could you please show your Identity Card?”

Qin Lu took out a Jade Token and handed it to the lady; she took the Jade Token, went to the counter, and placed it on a particular device to check it, then said:

”Mr. Qin Lu, good to see you. You’ve already ordered a Magic Killing Weapon before. According to the rules, you can order one more weapon. Would you like to place an order now?”

Qin Lu nodded.

The woman handed him a catalog and pointed to a vacant table in the room,

”Please take a seat there. Once you’ve picked out the weapon you want, let me know.”

Qin Lu and Yang Xiao walked over, sat down at the table, and Qin Lu handed Yang Xiao a beautifully crafted booklet.

Yang Xiao opened it and saw that it was filled with various weapon designs.

Each weapon was accompanied by text beneath it,

Neon Sword, Level One Weapon, cost 1 million Crystal Coins.

Green Cloud Sword, Level One Weapon, cost 1.1 million Crystal Coins.

Mountain Clearing Stick, Level One Weapon, cost 1 million Crystal Coins.

...

Yang Xiao flipped through a couple of pages, and the labeling of the weapons began to change.

”Neon Sword, Second Rank Weapon, cost 2 million Crystal Coins.”

”Brother Qin, what’s the difference between a Level One and a Second Rank, and why is there such a big price difference?”

”Heh, the difference is significant. With my status, I can only order Level One Weapons. People like Station Chief Dai and my father are qualified to order Second Rank Weapons. The Killing Aura of a Second Rank Weapon is twice that of a Level One Weapon.”
