Chapter 414: 204

“As the top noble enlistment assessment candidate of Mingster Province this time, joining ultimately should pose no problem for you.”

“As a special talent, if this mission ends smoothly, Colonel Mary should be able to help you apply for an exchange without much trouble,” Vinica turned to Mary with a smile and said.

Hmm?

An exchange without joining?

Rein, after hearing Vinica’s suggestion, couldn’t help but look at Mary with a questioning tilt of his head.

There, Mary looked back at Rein with a smile, nodded, and said, “Baron Rein, as the rising star of Mingster Province, the Southern Sea Fleet is indeed very willing to do this favor for you.”

“As far as I know, Major General Xilva still regrets that you declined the fleet’s invitation,” she added.

“That’s really great. The Sword Bearer organization has always been my goal; otherwise, I might have chosen to join the Southern Sea Fleet,” Rein said with pleasure gleaming in his smile.

If going to Fishing Port Town before were part of Rein’s duty as the Governor and Chief Peace Officer of Fishing Port Town,

Then now, it was also because Rein wanted to rush to Fishing Port Town himself to complete the joint mission from Meister County and the Southern Sea Fleet, thus getting Mary to assist with the exchange for the bird transformation witchcraft.

After lunch.

“You two, I’ll go upstairs to fetch my baggage, please wait a moment.”

“Of course, Baron Rein at your convenience.”

Rein went to his study, thought for a while, and then took out two distinct but exquisitely made wooden boxes from beneath a bookshelf, which contained the ‘magical essence of a giant beast’.”

He decided to take both bottles of ‘magical essence of a giant beast’ with him.

At that moment, the footsteps of a beautiful woman sounded outside the door.

“Knock knock knock!”

“Come in~”

The beautiful woman walked in with a beaming smile.

Huh?

Rein was quite puzzled; she had specially changed into a gorgeous off-the-shoulder pale blue long dress before lunch, so why was she now wearing a black robe?

Before he could ask, the beautiful woman cheerfully took the initiative to say, “Darling, it seems that Major Mary has quite a fondness for you.”

This statement made Rein pause for a moment and say, “I don’t think that’s likely; I’ve only met Major Mary during the enlistment assessment.”

“Is that so? Darling, don’t you think Major Mary in her naval uniform has a certain charm?” the beautiful woman moved closer, bringing a fragrant breeze and seductively said.

This…

Rein hesitated for a moment. He didn’t know whether to answer truthfully or to tell a ‘little white lie’ to spare the beautiful woman’s feelings, considering he was about to embark on a mission with Mary.

Seeing Rein’s hesitation, the beautiful woman giggled while covering her mouth.

All at once, the beautiful woman’s fair hand reached out and suddenly untied the black robe, and as it slid off, Rein’s eyes widened, and his mouth hung open slightly in shock.

Turned out, the beautiful woman was wearing a uniform that hardly differed from that of Mary’s naval dress. In that moment, a stunning ‘female officer’ was presented to Rein’s gaze.

Moreover, the uniform obviously being a size too small made the beautiful woman’s shapely features stand out tautly; her charms were unquestionably on display.

Rein felt a wave of warmth coursing through his lower abdomen.

“This… Jennifer, we’re supposed to depart soon… It’s almost time…”

“Commander, this time Colonel Jennifer will be at your service,” the beautiful woman threw a sultry glance and smiled sweetly while gazing at Rein, then slowly bent down and began to undo Rein’s…

(Ten thousand words are omitted here….)

The villa downstairs.

“Major Mary, Lord Rein is taking a bit long, isn’t he? It’s been half an hour; what’s taking him so long to come down?” The young girl’s twin ponytails bounced as she turned her head to ask with a hint of impatience.

“This… There might be something,” Major Mary thought about sending the beautiful woman upstairs to ask but when she looked around, she did not see the beautiful woman anywhere.

In the study, Rein, due to the beautiful woman’s superb skills plus the uniform bonus, and the intermittent conversation of the two women outside the window…

After a while, a refreshed Rein holding two boxes, descended the stairs.

“Lord Rein, you finally show yourself. Making two ladies wait so long is not very gentlemanly,” Vinica said with a hint of complaint.

“Ah… Miss Vinica, I am terribly sorry. I just couldn’t find the ‘magical essence of a giant beast’ at first and took some time to locate it,” Rein replied, looking rather embarrassed.

“Magical essence of a giant beast?” both women exclaimed in surprise.

“Does that mean you are about to advance to Great Knight?” they asked.

Rein looked up and saw that indeed, the ‘divert attention’ tactic worked like a charm.

Rein nodded and said, “Soon, it could happen at any time, which is why I thought it best to bring it along.”

At that time, as the Coachman brought Black Pearl to the front court of the residence, Vinica noticed the size of Black Pearl, looked closely with a puzzled expression and exclaimed:

“Oh my, Baron Rein, your ‘Jenny horse’ is almost as big as a ‘Locke horse’.”

“That’s so rare.”

…

An hour later.

Wild Wolf Hills path.

A luxurious carriage rode in the middle of the troop, with six Cavalrymen in front and six more behind; a Cavalryman led Rein’s Black Pearl following the carriage.

Meanwhile, Rein sat inside the carriage, chatting idly with the two women.

Being a Baron, and even more so as the Governor of Fishing Port Town, their destination, Rein naturally had the privilege of traveling by carriage.

“Lord Rein, the road from Meister County to Fishing Port Town appears to be very safe; the public security is not bad,” one of the women remarked.
