Chapter 407: Chapter 202: It’s Actually a F***ing… (Two-in-One Long Chapter)_4

After some thought, Magis waved his hand to a confidant and said, “You must contact the base immediately and ask Brigadier Parix what he means by this.”

“After all, he did this without notifying me, which is quite embarrassing among the nobility of Meister. They might think our organization has been defeated.”

“Yes, my lord! I’ll go right away!” Although the confidant was visibly tired, he bowed and quickly left the room.

He planned to use the cover of night and the chaos to leave the city and make contact.

But he had barely taken a few steps out of the prison gate when he saw a very familiar figure being carried by several people into the prison.

His eyes bulged with surprise, and had he not covered his mouth, he would have certainly cried out in shock!

He peered through the crowd and took another careful look.

Wasn’t this the very Brigadier Parix he was supposed to contact!

How could he be carried into the prison like a dead dog?

Could it be that Count Habs had laid an ambush?

That couldn’t be right!

After all, the intelligence was passed on by us, and Count Habs has not been in the County Town these past few days.

Could it be that the Monsoon and Ocean Goddess Church had made their move?

These meddling zealots!

After thinking it over, the confidant realized that there was clearly no need to go to the base anymore, after all, the person in charge of the base was already here.

Alas! He better hurry back and report to Lord Magis!

A few minutes later.

In Magis’s room.

“Knock knock knock!”

“Come in!” Magis called out.

“Huh? Why have you come back?” Seeing his confidant return so suddenly, Magis asked in surprise.

With a strange look on his face, the confidant paused, seemingly trying to find the right words, “My lord, I just saw Brigadier Parix at the prison gate.”

Before he could finish, Magis sprang from his chair, exclaiming, “What is he doing here? How dare he come to me so openly?”

“My lord! My lord! It’s not what you think, Brigadier Parix has been defeated and is seriously wounded. He’s now been brought to our prison gate, looking like he’s going to be imprisoned here.”

“What?” Always skilled at disguising his emotions, Magis could no longer hide his shock and exclaimed in dismay.

Upon hearing his confidant’s report, Magis felt as if he had been struck by lightning, standing there dumbfounded, while a storm of emotions churned within him.

Damn it!

What the hell is going on?

In Meist County City, he couldn’t think of anyone other than a few individuals like Count Habs, Bishop Shion, who could defeat Parix.

But Parix, even if he’s too self-confident, surely wouldn’t attack these few people, would he?

And besides, Count Habs was reportedly out of town and not in the County Town…

Could it be that Parix attempted to attack the Monsoon and Ocean Goddess Church?

No, impossible!

Magis immediately shook his head.

One would have to be kicked in the head by a mule to do such a foolish thing!

Besides, even if Parix were defeated, he should have had a retreat plan, right?

How could he not even manage to escape?

For the moment, Magis couldn’t understand why such a bizarre incident could happen!

And just the thought that if this matter were indeed true, Magis felt a tingling sensation on his scalp…

After pacing back and forth in the room several times, Magis’s mood slightly returned to calm, and he asked his confidant once more, “Are you sure that the one who was carried in is Colonel Parix?”

“My lord, I am quite certain, Colonel Parix has seen me many times before, his characteristically shiny combat boots are something I could not possibly misidentify,” the confidant nodded with certainty.

“So he has already been brought in?”

“Yes, he should have been taken to the infirmary first, considering the severity of the colonel’s injuries as I saw them,”

“Good, you find an opportunity now to probe the situation at the infirmary, I will cover for you. Additionally, arrange for someone to investigate what exactly happened,” Magis nodded and said.

“Understood, my lord.”

…

The confidant soon arrived at the infirmary and learned from the City Guard who were in charge of the escort that he was brought over from the noble’s district.

Immediately, the confidant arranged for informants within the City Guard to go investigate ahead.

Before long, the two informants tasked with the investigation found the site of the battle, near the Rein Mansion, where they saw nothing but large and small gullies and pits, hardly looking like a scene of human combat, more like a battle between two giant beasts.

The two of them changed color instantly, looking at each other in dismay!

Plus, through some casual conversation, the two learned the rough details of the incident from a City Guard on patrol nearby.

Soon, the message was relayed to Magis’s confidant.

Upon hearing this news, the confidant was stunned for a good while.

This…

Was indeed somewhat inconceivable!

Immediately, the confidant knocked on Magis’s door again.

A few minutes later…

“What? You’re saying Rein was the one who beat Parix into this state?” Magis’s face showed utter disbelief!

While arranging for his confidant to investigate, Magis had also ‘passed by’ the infirmary door and glanced in, seeing the dreadful state of Colonel Parix.

His mind wouldn’t stop eliminating possibilities as to which major figure from the county town could have beaten Parix to such a state.

The conclusion he reached was that it was likely the experts from the Monsoon and Sea Goddess Church, because many of the wounds on Colonel Parix’s body were caused by hammers resulting in crush injuries.

And masters who wield hammers were commonly found among the Goddess Church’s Temple Knights, or even at a higher rank among the Punishment Knights.

“Impossible!!!” Magis punched the desk with his fist, instantly splitting the solid wood desk onto the floor.

He had repeatedly sent people to contact Parix, asking him to take out Rein.

And now, look what had happened…

Parix did make his move, only to be taken out by Rein!

Fuck!

Magis felt his entire being was in disarray…

If you’ve died in battle, that’s one thing, but now you’ve been captured alive!

Magis, having spent over two years mingling in the prison, knew all too well how terrifying the interrogation officer’s punishments were there, and he didn’t believe for a second that Parix could endure several rounds of torture…

It seemed he needed to think of a way out…

“My lord, shouldn’t we consider a way to rescue the colonel?” the confidant suggested rather ‘directly.’

Magis stared at his confidant for a few seconds before responding, “You do have a heart. However, Colonel Parix will undoubtedly be closely guarded at all levels.”

“With just a few of us trying to rescue him, it’s too difficult…”

“My lord, actually, with us acting as insiders, the rescue wouldn’t be that difficult, it’s just that after getting out of the prison, we would need a powerful person to rendezvous. My lord, is there enough time to contact the higher-ups now?” the confidant pondered and inquired further.
