Chapter 411: Chapter 203: Above Secret Techniques – Secret Technique (Combined Chapter)_4

He recognized this servant, who was responsible for the stables at their mansion, feeding and taking care of the horses.

“How’s ‘Black Pearl’?” Lord Rein asked casually.

‘Black Pearl’ was that black warhorse. Ever since about two months ago, when Rein had been adding a mutation growth potion to its feed, the creature’s physique had become increasingly robust and large.

As for why it was named ‘Black Pearl’, one would only need to refer to the origin of the greyhound ‘Cookie’ to understand.

It was a name given by his sister Bo He, and it must be said, this time the naming showed progress compared to the greyhound’s.

“Well… sir, ‘Black Pearl’ has seemed to bulk up even more recently. Its appetite is now shockingly large, consuming a whole bag of high-quality feed or grass in one meal, which is nearly three times the amount a normal warhorse would eat,” the stableman reported.

“Hmm, you’ve worked hard. If you want a horse to run, you’ve got to let it eat its fill!” Rein said with a smile.

“Everything else is normal. Oh, but it seems to prefer not being cooped up in the stable. It likes to roam outside, so sometimes it gets a bit irritable,” the stableman continued.

Rein nodded in understanding; indeed, it had been a while since he had ridden out on it.

The backyard space only allowed the horse to move slightly, nowhere near enough to gallop freely.

Looking up, Rein saw that ‘Black Pearl’ now had a completely different appearance from the other ordinary horses beside it.

A standard big horse with a high head, its black coat glossy and sleek. Just moving around casually revealed the strong, bulky muscles underneath its skin.

It could be said, without any exaggeration, that in the company of seven or eight warhorses, it stood out like a crane among chickens.

Rein made a careful comparison. If the shoulder height of a regular warhorse in the stable was about 1.4 to 1.5 meters, then ‘Black Pearl’s’ shoulder height had now reached 1.8 meters.

Mind you, that’s the shoulder height. If you add the neck and the head, ‘Black Pearl’s total height exceeded 2.2 meters.

Obviously, such a significant change could no longer be simply described as ‘bulked up.’

The reason, naturally, was due to the continuous intake of the mutation growth potion for two months, which had induced some kind of mutation in ‘Black Pearl,’ resulting in a complete alteration of its physique.

If it were merely a matter of muscle gain, the horse’s skeletal structure would not have changed, but at this moment, ‘Black Pearl’s’ bone structure and appearance had both transformed.

Seeing Rein approach, ‘Black Pearl’ nickered twice, snorted, and then rubbed its forehead against the palm of Rein’s outstretched hand.

Clearly, ‘Black Pearl’ was very happy about Rein’s arrival.

Rein stroked ‘Black Pearl’s’ head and took out the intelligence potion he was carrying, pouring it into the feed trough filled with high-quality feed.

As the pale green bubbly liquid flowed out, ‘Black Pearl’ first sniffed at it, then nickered and began to chew vigorously, seeming quite fond of the taste.

One minute later, the system prompt refreshed:

[By feeding your warhorse with high-quality feed mixed with the secret potion ‘Intelligence Potion,’ its comprehension has slightly increased!]

[Your Beast Taming Skill has been enhanced, Experience +45]

[Your Beast Tamer (Transcendent) profession Experience +22]

….

Rein nodded in satisfaction and glanced at the Beast Tamer (Transcendent) profession, which had now reached lv5 (348/2000).

However, the intelligence potion differed from the mutation growth potion in its use.

The intelligence potion only needed to be used once to gradually affect the pet; it wasn’t necessary to be continuously administered for two months like the mutation growth potion.

This meant that Rein could only gain feeding experience from one pet once, but all things considered, he currently only had two pets.

This was in part because he had not previously invested much energy in the Beast Tamer (Transcendent) profession, and secondly, it was because it was still unknown whether there was a limit to the number of pets a Beast Tamer could have.

Recalling the previous profession panel quantity restriction, the system only displayed the prompt ‘Total number of panels has reached the current limit’ after Rein had filled his profession panel quantity (3/3).

Latter, after he advanced to become a Knight (Transcendent), his profession panel quantity was expanded by one, reaching (4/4).

Therefore, Rein surmised that the number of pets for a Beast Tamer probably had a limit too. Without a particularly suitable pet, he had no plans to adopt pets randomly.

At this moment, a servant hurried over and bowed to Rein:

“Baron, a group of cavalry has arrived at the gates, and among them is a beautiful female officer. She says her name is Marika.”

Huh?

How could it be her who came.

Lord Rein immediately thought of the beautiful female major in a navy uniform, with a graceful figure.

It must be what Count Habs mentioned last time, about the special task force of the Sixth Fleet. He hadn’t expected them to arrive so soon?

Lord Rein raised an eyebrow and said, “Very well, I’ll be there at once.”

When Rein arrived at the front yard, he found a troop of cavalry had already been led into the front yard. In front of the cavalry, the beautiful woman Jennifer was receiving Major Marika Morales of the navy with a smile.

Yet, what was more noticeable was the girl with twin ponytails in a light blue robe standing beside Marika. Judging by her age, she didn’t seem to be much older than Jenny.

“Baron, I was just thinking of asking Major Marika and her party to wait for you in the drawing room,” the beautiful woman said with a smile.

“Baron Rein, it’s been a long time.” Marika’s eyes brightened upon seeing Rein, and she greeted him with a smile.

She hadn’t expected that the young man she hadn’t seen in a while had grown taller and more robust, and at the same time, he exuded a light, noble aura.

This change seemed a bit too rapid.

“Major Marika, it has indeed been a long time,” Rein said with a nod and a smile.

“Lord Rein, this is Veronica Meier, a disciple of Master Annius, the advisor to the Imperial Southern Sea Fleet and a Tier-3 Wizard Apprentice of the Ubrek School. Veronica specializes in the alteration of birds and serves as the liaison officer for this special task force.”

This immediately struck Rein as a surprise.

Hmm?

Ubrek School? It must be some wizardry school.

Rein raised an eyebrow; he hadn’t expected the twin ponytailed girl to be a Tier-3 Wizard Apprentice, which was truly beyond his expectations.

But then, a realization struck Rein.

He remembered reading in Adams’ journal about a formal wizard serving as an advisor to the Duke of Empire.

Indeed, the Imperial elite didn’t view wizards as a threat but as a helpful force.

“Miss Veronica, nice to meet you,” Rein said as he bowed slightly.

“Baron Rein, I’ve long heard of your great reputation,” Veronica’s voice turned out to be a rare, childish tone.

Just then, the sound of flapping wings came from the sky, and at the same time, a dark shadow swiftly dived down from above.

Rein’s pupils shrank, and his right hand immediately reached for the greatsword on his back.

“Lord Rein, wait.”

“Hmm?”

“This is a specially altered seagull, used for delivering our messages,” Veronica called out immediately.

A white seagull, much larger than ordinary seagulls, flapped its wings and landed on the arm Veronica had stretched out.

Then Rein noticed that beneath Veronica’s blue robe, a tubular brown leather gauntlet was attached to her right forearm, probably serving as a perch for the bird’s talons.

Rein raised an eyebrow.

Specially altered seagull?

Was it the effect of witchcraft or some kind of secret potion?

But from any point of view, it seemed quite suitable to be his pet.

What a pity, though—the seagull was still too weak. If it was a bird of prey, that would indeed be a very good choice…

But then, if he were to get another bird of prey like an eagle…

Wouldn’t he be ‘holding the azure dragon in the left and leading the yellow dragon in the right’?

Veronica quickly muttered an incantation under her breath, focusing intently on the white seagull’s eyes without moving, and after several seconds, she spoke:

“Major Marika, Baron Rein, Admiral Xilva has informed me that the fleet has left the harbor and is expected to reach the waters near Meister County in three days,” she said.
