Chapter 406: Chapter 202: It’s Actually a F***ing… (Two-in-One Long Chapter)_3

“`

“So, I immediately went to the County Town and reported this news to Viscount Hamadi. I didn’t expect to encounter your mansion being attacked,”

the enemy’s main force?

Rein thought for a moment, then pointed at the prostrate Parix on the ground and said, “Viscount, perhaps this man is the leader of the enemy.”

“Hmm?” Both Hamadi and Hamilton looked at Rein with a surprised face.

Only now did they notice that, under the dim streetlights, the ground behind Rein was full of trenches and ravines, along with the horrendously damaged front courtyard of the mansion.

Hamilton glanced at Parix on the ground, who looked like a dead dog, and said,

“He is…?”

“It’s said that he’s the leader of the Zaral rebels in Meist County, a Great Knight.”

“A Great Knight?” Hamilton’s eyes widened in shock, flashing with a sharp light.

“This man should be very valuable for interrogation; he’s not dead yet, right?”

“Not yet dead, I deliberately avoided his vitals,” Rein nodded.

However, this statement sounded slightly off to Hamadi and Hamilton. Looking at the twisted and broken body in front of them, it was clear that although the vitals were avoided, the damage was…

truly too gruesome, especially since the victim was a Great Knight.

What about dignity?

“Excellent, Baron Rein, I suggest that you hand him over to the empire,”

“Recently, there have been signs of rebel activity in all counties of Mingster Province. At this juncture, you capturing the person in charge of one county will surely reap a substantial Merit Points reward,” Viscount Hamadi said with a look of joy.

Rein glanced at Hamilton and saw the latter also nodding with a smile.

So, Rein nodded and said, “Well, Viscount Hamadi, I’ll leave it to you then.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll send him straight to the County Jail and keep a tight watch. When Count Habs returns, he will probably personally interrogate him,” Viscount Hamadi said with a smile in his eyes.

“What about that one over there?” Hamilton pointed to the burly man who was kneeling and asked.

“He’s not important,” Rein said with a glance.

After leaving the rest of the matters to the two of them, Rein returned to his mansion to reassure his parents, sister, and the beautiful Jennifer.

Since his family and the beautiful woman were not skilled in combat, even though they were worried about Rein and wanted to see the battle’s outcome, under the dim night, they simply could not discern the clash between two people with Great Knight-level strength.

They could only hear the continuous sounds of battle—”Boom! Crack! Clang!”

Upon returning to his room, Rein looked at the system prompts:

[Your skill Giant Bear Sword Technique has improved, experience +878]

[Your skill Tokkal Hammer Technique has improved, experience +1051]

[You have experienced a battle, Knight (Transcendent) experience +476]

[You have experienced a battle, Wizard Apprentice (Transcendent) experience +53]

…

After this battle, the Knight (Transcendent) level reached lv6 (354/3000), earning one Skill Point and one attribute point as rewards.

The remaining attribute points were restored to five, while the remaining Skill Points also reached three.

The experience rewards for Tokkal Hammer Technique and Giant Bear Sword Technique were substantial, but there was still quite a distance to level 10 skill advancement.

However, this was not Rein’s current concern.

Right now, his Kadar Martial Arts was already at lv5, and he had three Skill Points remaining.

That meant, if he could quickly gain two more Skill Points, he would be able to immediately change his job to [Weapon Master (Legendary)].

…

—————–

At night, Meist County City.

A low but heavily guarded building was brightly lit.

Teams dressed as the City Guard, or as the Night Watchman, were escorting captured bandits in and out of the building’s gates, and on the door, several large characters read ‘Meist County Jail.’

Half a day ago, Magis was quite excited upon receiving a report from a trusted aide that there was a major operation organized for the evening.

After all, the stronger the organization, the bigger the commotion they caused, the greater his influence as the public liaison of the organization among the Meist nobility, and the more comfortable his life would be.

On the contrary, if the organization was weak or eradicated by the empire, then he would have little standing to speak of, and might even lack a reason to exist.

Just now, he was awakened in the middle of the night by a noisy commotion and immediately sensed something was off—because the whole jail seemed very lively.

And he knew, an active jail was highly unusual!

So, Magis immediately called for his trusted aide and asked:

“What’s going on? Why are so many prisoners being brought in?”

“This… just wait a moment, your lordship, I’ll go and investigate,” the aide replied, appearing to have just been woken up himself.

However, Magis didn’t seem to mind.

After all, his subordinate had been running back and forth between the jail and the new organization base and indeed had been working hard.

A few minutes later, the aide returned with an ugly expression and reported, “My lord, these are all bandits from the Wild Wolf Hills; it’s said that the organization is behind them.”

“What? Did the organization’s operation tonight fail?” Magis’s complexion changed abruptly, immediately guessing the implications.

“It’s not clear yet; they’re all bandit gang members, I haven’t seen any members of the organization being caught,” the aide said.

“Could this be showing weakness to deceive the enemy? A new tactic by General Parix?” Magis heard this and felt somewhat relieved—at least there were no members of the organization involved, which was intriguing.

“However… these bandit gangs can also be considered a potential force that the organization could utilize. Handing them over to the empire like this, doesn’t it seem a bit inappropriate…” Magis muttered to himself.
