Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2047: Chapter 2049: Brought It Upon Herself

Knowing that Mother Qi has been rescued and is now in the hospital, Old Master Cheng and Xiao Qi, among others, have all arrived.

Qi Jianguo was no exception. Upon hearing that his elder brother had returned, and finding out that his mother had suffered such a calamity, the young man in his twenties turned red-eyed. Who knows how many times he cried in secret? He even blamed Qi Taiguo for not letting him know.

Fortunately, many people were there, and Qi Jianguo was too embarrassed to make a fuss, so he just sat by the bed watching over Mother Qi.

Qi Taiguo bowed to Old Master Cheng and said, ”I should have been the one to call on you, yet I troubled you to come over here.”

”No trouble at all. Matters have their urgencies and priorities. Anyway, you are back now, isn’t it just a matter of time until we meet?” Old Master Cheng didn’t mind much, and patted his shoulder, saying, ”You’re back just in time.”

Otherwise, if Cheng Su had been in charge, there might not have been such a relatively good outcome.

Qi Taiguo was thankful himself.

He then looked at Qi Xiaoqi, exchanged a look with his son, picked him up and said, ”Thank you for taking care of your mom these days.”

Qi Xiaoqi lowered his eyelids and softly uttered an ’um’.

”Didn’t expect your first meeting with Xiao Qi after you came back would be at the hospital,” Cheng Su said with a helpless smile.

Yes, it was entirely different from what I had imagined; the disparity was too great.

”It’s good that you’re back, no matter where you meet.” Old Master Cheng remarked.

These words were indeed very true.

”During these days, while you’re all busy, Xiao Qi, you should stay with me at the Cheng family!” Old Master Cheng didn’t sit for long and proposed to leave.

”Will it bother you?” Qi Taiguo hesitated a bit.

”We have servants at home, it won’t be any trouble,” Sister-in-law Cheng said, ”You take good care of the patient first. It’s tough enduring such suffering at such an age.”

Cheng Su gave Qi Xiaoqi a few instructions to be obedient and watched them leave.

Sister-in-law Cheng wanted to buy some things, so she parted ways with Old Master Cheng, instructing the driver to take them home.

However, sitting in the car, Old Master Cheng directed the driver to go to another place instead.

...

With his brothers staying at the hospital, Cheng Su, seeing that it had been a tiring day, suggested going home to cook some porridge and bring it back.

Before she left, she detoured to the intensive care unit.

Standing in front of the glass window, she looked at Chiang Qing lying inside, her head wrapped in white bandages, wearing a respiratory mask, having withered away. Her feelings were complex.

The harsh words she spoke to Chiang Qing today, though cruel, were all honest truths, without any embellishment.

Chiang Qing originally held a good hand of cards, but just because she loved the wrong man, she walked down a dead-end road and never turned back. This was her obstinacy, also her stupidity.

She relied on her family, and when the family fell, she relied on Gao Hongbo. Gao was finished off by her later. Afterward, she relied on Shen Rong. There was a chance for rebirth, yet she ruined it herself again.

In the end, no matter who she leaned on, she only ended up losing, and she lost, ending up in this half-dead state now.

Why go through all this?

Cheng Su stood quietly with her hands in her jeans pockets, looking at Chiang Qing, and let out a deep sigh.

She did not have the same defiance as Qi Taiguo, because now everything was settled. Whether Chiang Qing wakes up or not, it would not be a good outcome if she did.

The law would be waiting for her, and so would the Shen Family. Though she still lives, it is no better than being dead!

Cheng Su turned to leave without a trace of sympathy or pity. To have come to this point, no one else was to blame; it was all her own doing.
