Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2038: Chapter 2040: A Life for a Life is Fair

Cheng Yaozu learned the specific large area where Chiang Qing was hiding, immediately made several calls, and sent everyone searching for Chiang Qing to that area, even if they had to turn the whole ground upside down to find her.

However, Cheng Su felt this was inappropriate and urgently called it off, fearing that if Chiang Qing got wind of the search, she might be further provoked and take out her anger on Mother Qi, possibly killing her.

She’s already gone mad!

”It’s not that I don’t want to search, but the commotion is too big. If she gets wind of it and goes berserk, it will endanger mom...” Cheng Su said to Qi Taiguo.

”I know, I know.” Qi Taiguo was equally anxious.

Cheng Su was somewhat flustered, with Chiang Qing not making any demands, yet they were already in action. Could they be making a mistake?

Meanwhile, Chiang Qing had just woken from a nap; she sat on the sofa and suddenly felt disoriented upon seeing Mother Qi still asleep across from her.

Where was she, what was she doing?

Her gaze fell to the floor next to Mother Qi, eyes widening—a spot of blood. 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

Is she dead?

Chiang Qing stood up, slowly moved over to Mother Qi, and extended her finger to her nose tip. Warm breath, very faint, but alive!

She breathed a sigh of relief.

At that moment, Mother Qi also woke up, saw a shadow in front of her, and slowly raised her head. Seeing Chiang Qing’s face, it was like seeing a Rakshasa; her eyes were full of fear, and muffled cries came from her bandaged mouth.

Chiang Qing, feeling pity, was about to remove the cloth from her mouth when a voice suddenly shouted: What are you doing? Trying to alert someone?

”Miss Chiang.”

Chiang Qing turned around and saw the boy, his expression turning sinister again, and asked, ”Where’s your brother?” As if the pity just now was an illusion.

”Big brother went to buy food!” Niu Er came over with two bottles of water, glanced cautiously at Mother Qi, and asked, ”Miss, should we give her some water?”

”No need! She won’t die!” Chiang Qing grabbed his water and took a gulp herself.

”Miss, the finger has been sent over, next, we demand the ransom?” Niu Er asked again, not wanting to delay; he wanted to quickly end this thing and take the money with his brother back home to the countryside!

The big city is kind of scary!

”What’s the rush!” Chiang Qing shot him a cold glance.

”It’s just, she’s losing so much blood, I’m afraid she’ll die!” Niu Er said.

”Dead then dead, even if she’s dead, we can still get the ransom. If we don’t mention it, how could her family know?” Chiang Qing sneered.

She hadn’t thought about how to tell Cheng Su to come meet her alone. Yes!

Arrange another place, and let these two brothers guard the old lady while she meets Cheng Su. She doesn’t believe Cheng Su would truly disregard Mother Qi.

If she dares to play tricks...

No, even if Cheng Su dares to play tricks and reports to the police to have her caught, then she’d rather die than reveal Mother Qi’s whereabouts. Surely, Cheng Su would be concerned about that.

Chiang Qing bit her nail as she paced back and forth, her mind racing.

Only letting Cheng Su come alone is too easy for her, so bring the child?

No, no, if she were in Cheng Su’s place, she wouldn’t risk two lives for one person, especially if that’s her child. Cheng Su wouldn’t agree.

Just one person, only one person, a life for a life, that’s fair enough.

Chiang Qing pondered the possibility of their meeting: where would be best to arrange it?

Suddenly, the sound of running footsteps came through, and Chiang Qing’s face darkened as she looked over sharply, only to see Niu Da rushing in in a panic, saying: ”It’s bad, they’re looking for us, they’re coming!”
