Chapter 2045: Chapter 2047: The Dust Settles

Hospital.

Mother Qi was wheeled into the emergency surgery room, along with the small segment of her severed finger. It had been retrieved from Cheng Su’s household fridge, and although it might not be possible to reattach it, it was worth a try.

Qi Taiguo waited in the corridor, with Cheng Su by his side.

He wrapped his arm around her shoulders but said nothing, his face full of guilt.

After all, everything was his fault, leading to this situation.

Cheng Su saw what he was thinking, held his face in her hands, and said, ”Don’t blame yourself, and don’t worry too much. None of us wanted things to turn out this way.”

Everything is the arrangement of fate!

Qi Taiguo forced a faint smile, looked at her hand and face, frowned, and said, ”You’re hurt too, you need to take care of it.”

Cheng Su didn’t pay much attention to it, but Qi Taiguo was insistent, pulling her along to find a nurse for disinfection and medication.

...

Qi Taiguo looked at her arm, covered with medical tape, and her face, showing signs of redness and abrasions, feeling both guilty and grateful, along with lingering fear.

He held her hand to his lips and kissed it, sincerely saying, ”Susu, thank you.”

”What’s the point of saying this?” Cheng Su laughed.

Qi Taiguo shook his head and said, ”When you rushed out today, my heart flew away. For my mom, you... I am grateful.”

”Don’t say things like that. Even if you see a stranger about to fall, anyone would naturally try to save them. Besides, it was your mom. It’s instinct!” Cheng Su touched his face and said, ”As for you, don’t blame yourself too much.”

Qi Taiguo nodded.

”At least now the matter is settled!” Cheng Su said, ”Mom suffered this time, do you think it’s time to tell Dad and them?”

”Let’s wait and see how the surgery goes, and what the doctor says,” Qi Taiguo replied.

That would be good; when the time comes, they can tell Father Qi about the general situation without worrying them too much.

The two spoke in hushed tones as the doctor walked out.

Qi Taiguo immediately stood up and approached: ”Doctor, how is my mom?”

”The patient lost too much blood and was extremely frightened, causing her to faint. Her body is very weak and needs rest,” the doctor said. ”Additionally, I’m sorry to tell you, the time since the patient’s finger was amputated is too long, the related tissues have necrotized, and it can’t be reattached.”

Cheng Su’s face turned pale, and she pursed her lips. Although she had been mentally prepared, hearing it like this made her very uncomfortable.

Qi Taiguo felt the same, only asking, ”Is there any danger to her life?”

”You can rest assured about that, the patient is not in any danger to her life.” The doctor smiled slightly and continued, ”But the patient has undergone a great ordeal, and her psychological impact will certainly be huge. Her family needs to enlighten her well. If necessary, a psychological counselor can be arranged because as people age, psychological trauma poses more harm than physical and is detrimental to recovery.”

”Thank you, doctor, we’ll do that,” Cheng Su replied quickly.

The doctor nodded and said, ”The patient will be transferred to the ward soon. Please arrange the admission procedures!”

Cheng Su thanked him again, watched him leave, and then turned to Qi Taiguo. Seeing his gloomy face, she hugged him and comforted him, saying, ”This is already the best outcome!”

”I know, I just feel ashamed that as a son, I’ve let my mother suffer,” Qi Taiguo said. ”You keep watch, I’ll go handle the procedures.”

”Alright!” Cheng Su responded with a smile.
