Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 2037: Chapter 2039: An Unexpected Discovery

Mother Qi’s kidnapping caused quite a stir, especially since it involved Cheng Su’s family, attracting attention from all sides. From Cheng Yaozu, they learned that Qi Taiguo had returned home.

Qi Xiaoqi felt reassured upon hearing this. With Old Qi back, everything would fall into place. Even if something were to happen to Old Lady Qi, he wouldn’t miss it. Decisions could be made, and Cheng Su, as a daughter-in-law, wouldn’t have too tough a time.

”...Are you still worried about your grandma? Don’t worry, your dad’s back, and he’ll rescue her!” Old Master Cheng looked at Qi Xiaoqi’s serious little face and couldn’t help but smile while patting his head.

Qi Xiaoqi said, ”I’m not worried.”

Old Master Cheng smiled, unsure whether to call the child sensible or mature, always pretending to be all grown-up despite his young age.

Sister-in-law Cheng came over with a stack of items, glancing at them with a smile.

”What did you see that makes you smile like that?” Old Master Cheng asked.

”Oh, nothing much, just some photos taken when Old Four and Little Su were spreading warmth at the orphanage, freshly printed and brought home.” Sister-in-law Cheng approached and handed over the photos.

Old Master Cheng took the photos, and Qi Xiaoqi cleverly handed him the reading glasses. He smiled and praised him before starting to look at the photos.

”Not bad, our family has prospered, but we mustn’t forget goodness. Doing good deeds brings blessings.” Old Master Cheng commented while going through the photos one by one.

”Indeed!” Sister-in-law Cheng replied with a smile.

As Old Master Cheng continued looking, he suddenly halted, holding one photo tight, his smile stiffening.

”Dad, what’s wrong?” Sister-in-law Cheng asked, noticing that the photo showed Cheng Su holding a girl’s hand.

”Go, go to my study and bring over that old photo album of mine!” Old Master Cheng quickly said.

Sister-in-law Cheng nodded, got up, and went.

Qi Xiaoqi moved closer, glancing at the photo. Wasn’t this the child Cheng Su was sponsoring? What was Old Master Cheng so excited about?

Soon, Sister-in-law Cheng returned with the album. Old Master Cheng took it and flipped through hurriedly until finding a black-and-white photo of two boys with their arms around each other, extracting it.

He compared the two photos, pointing out a detail and said, ”Sister-in-law Cheng, look, do they resemble each other?”

Qi Xiaoqi looked closer and exclaimed.

Sister-in-law Cheng also noticed, not far behind the two boys was a girl biting her finger, captured in the photo. ”It does seem quite alike, but, Dad, who is this?”

”This is an old photo of your aunt when she was young. Actually, the photo was meant to be of me and another boy, but unexpectedly that girl was included too. The photo was kept by this friend, and since it had your aunt, I later requested it back. So, does this girl resemble her?” Old Master Cheng pointed to the child Cheng Su was holding.

Sister-in-law Cheng asked, ”Dad, what are you implying?”

Old Master Cheng looked at the color photo but said nothing.

Sister-in-law Cheng pondered for a moment and said, ”Dad, you don’t think this could be Auntie’s...” descendants, do you?

Old Master Cheng gave a bitter smile, could it be possible? Probably not.

After so many years, it’s the first time he’s seen a child so much like Suxin from back then—yet she’s an orphan!

”Maybe I’m overthinking it!” Old Master Cheng suddenly felt a bit dejected and put down the photo.

”Old Master, if you have suspicions, we can wait till Old Four finishes his work and comes back. We can ask him to investigate!” Sister-in-law Cheng couldn’t bear to see the Old Master so disappointed.

Old Master Cheng nodded, his eyes somewhat troubled.

Qi Xiaoqi glanced at both of them, then at the photo. What story could be behind this?
