Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1788: Chapter 1790: Together

Because Qi Xiaoqi was still so little, Cheng Su and the others couldn’t possibly take him to play any particularly thrilling or extreme games and activities, so they just wandered around, ate some local snacks, took in the local customs, went to the seaside to watch the fishermen put out to sea and so on, and that was already quite a lot of fun.

The family was living apart in two different places, so they were using this chance to be together; where they went to play didn’t really matter, what mattered most was being together as a family.

”Tourism hasn’t really taken off yet, there aren’t many sights to visit, but actually, it’s precisely because they haven’t been developed that so many places look more charming, you look at them and they’re like scenic spots. Once they get developed, they instead lose a bit of their flavor. These over‑polished tourist spots, sure, they’re comfortable, and beautiful too, but they always lack that original, untouched feeling.” Cheng Su looked at the fishing boats in the harbor, one after another, fishermen in straw hats standing on them, either casting nets or mending them. It was very interesting.

But in the future, sights like this would probably become fewer and fewer.

”Right now there still aren’t that many people with both money and leisure, everyone’s busy making a living, where would they find so much time to travel!” Qi Taiguo replied, ”Our family is already doing pretty well, and even we don’t have that much time to go out and play. For now, you could say we’re stealing half a day of idle life.”

”Yeah. But no matter how busy you are, you really do have to make time for your family, especially for the child. If you don’t keep him company, you’ll miss his growing up. With this kid, every day you look at him, he’s one day closer to leaving you.” Cheng Su put her arm around Qi Xiaoqi and said, ”When they’re grown, it’ll be us who are longing for them to keep us company instead.”

”I promise you.” Qi Taiguo held her hand and said, ”No matter how busy I am, I’ll make time for you two.”

Cheng Su smiled faintly.

”Boat...” Qi Xiaoqi pointed at the boats out on the sea and shouted, cutting the two of them off.

”That’s right, that’s a big boat. Xiao Qi is really sharp.” Cheng Su clapped her hands.

Qi Taiguo said, ”He’s really happy.”

A child’s mood is written all over his face; whether he’s happy or not, you can see it at a glance. Qi Xiaoqi was the same—his eyes and his little face were all telling of his joy and delight.

”He’ll remember this.” Cheng Su kissed her son’s cheek and said, ”He’ll remember that we kept him company.”

Qi Xiaoqi grinned at his parents.

When the sunlight started getting too strong, the three of them stopped sitting by the sea, found a park to stroll around in, and then went to have lunch.

In the heat of summer, the afternoons were unbearably hot. After eating, everyone felt tired, and when Qi Taiguo saw his son’s face flushed bright red from the heat, he simply took them back to the hotel to rest.

And as soon as they got back, Qi Xiaoqi couldn’t resist his drowsiness and fell asleep. That suited Qi Taiguo perfectly; he held Cheng Su in his arms as they lay there talking, talking until they both grew drowsy and drifted off. With his wife and son by his side, even his dreams were sweet.

When they woke up from their nap, it was already around five or six in the afternoon, close to dusk. Cheng Su said she wanted to watch the sunset, so they got dressed and went out, found a pastry shop, bought a small cake, and took it to the seaside to wait for the sunset to come.

When the orange-red color spread across the sky and the setting sun hovered at the horizon, about to sink but not quite yet, the sky was as beautiful as a painting, making people instinctively sigh in admiration.

Cheng Su stuck a small candle into the cake, held her son as she made a wish for him, and sang him the birthday song, wishing only that his life would be smooth and healthy.

The scene was so beautiful that Cheng Su found a passerby to help them, and the three of them stood by the sea, facing the setting sun, and had a commemorative photo taken.

The moment in the photo was frozen in time: the seventh day of the seventh month, the day the Cowherd boy and Weaver Girl meet, Qi Xiaoqi’s birthday, the three of them together as a family. A Valentine’s Day like this was worth remembering for a lifetime.
