Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1754: Chapter 1755: Testing the Waters First

Speaking of Chiang Qing being ruthless, even capable of severely handling her older brother with whom she shares blood ties, it’s actually not that unusual, considering that back in the day, Jiang Dafang, her older brother, was also cruel enough to send his sister to a mental asylum.

So, it’s just a matter of tit for tat, an eye for an eye. That’s how the game is played; the weak get eaten. Survival of the fittest, that’s the rule of existence.

”If she can get her hands on me, that would make things easier.” Ning Ge laughed and said, ”Otherwise, how would we test the Shen family’s waters?”

Qi Taiguo pursed his lips: ”The Shen family is tainted with darkness...”

”That’s why they could kidnap Jiang Dafang.” Ning Ge’s voice turned slightly cold. ”In a few days, I will have a meeting with Chiang Qing. It’ll be a good chance to see who’s around her.”

”What about the Shen family...”

”If Shen Rong knows what’s best and keeps Chiang Qing suppressed under Five Finger Mountain, not letting her stir up trouble, then everything will be peaceful. But if he’s blinded by old age, then it would be time to crush the Shen family’s business presence in the country.” The fierceness showed on Ning Ge’s handsome face.

Qi Taiguo mused for a while before saying: ”That’s true, having more friends is better than more foes. Over at Guangcheng, I’ve asked the old man to use the Cheng family’s influence to suppress them a bit. Why don’t you hold off for now? Give the Shen family a warning and see if they will retreat.”

No matter where, having more friends is always better than having more enemies, even if they’re not as good as you. But they can still give you trouble.

If the Shen family knows what’s best and retreats, then peace will prevail. If not, then it’s not too late to crush them.

Ning Ge thought for a moment and said, ”Hmm, let’s test the waters first. We’ll start by teasing the little Mouse, Chiang Qing.”

A mischievous smile appeared on his face, and Qi Taiguo relaxed slightly.

As Ning Ge recalled what Cheng Yaozu had told him, he sat up straight and said, ”By the way, there’s another matter.” He glanced at Qi Taiguo, suddenly hesitating whether to speak, wondering if it would impact their relationship as a couple.

”What matter?”

Ning Ge scratched his head and said, ”Well, you know Cheng Su is fostering a child in Guangcheng, don’t you?”

Qi Taiguo’s heart jumped, but his face remained calm, ”I know, what’s the matter?”

”Someone has visited that child. She said she wants to find that person for the child, but the information Yaozu found suggested the person might be an assassin.” Ning Ge said, ”Yaozu said she wanted to dig more into that person’s background, although it’s not directly related to her, but I am afraid she might cause trouble. I plan to look into it thoroughly, just letting you know.”

”What? An assassin?” Qi Taiguo was stunned.

”Yes, Yaozu said she’s pretty concerned.” Ning Ge looked at Qi Taiguo’s expression and said, ”Is there any relationship between Cheng Su and that child?”

Qi Taiguo glanced at him but didn’t divulge Cheng Su’s secret, as it’s quite incomprehensible and it’s Cheng Su’s own secret. Even if it needs to be shared, it shouldn’t be him doing it.

”Just a foster care relationship, nothing else.”

Ning Ge responded with an ”oh,” but his eyes flickered, clearly sensing Qi Taiguo’s evasion.

Qi Taiguo saw it clearly but was powerless, only able to give a bitter smile, pondering over that person, an assassin? What’s their relationship with Cheng Su?

Feeling a bit anxious, he realized he’s been busy these days and hasn’t called home. He’d need to take some time to talk to her.

As the two were talking, Ning Gang returned. Qi Taiguo followed him to the study, while Ning Ge fiddled with a branded lighter in hand. Apparently, it’s not just Cheng Su with secrets, but both these couples have them!
