Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1777: Chapter 1778: Every Request Answered

Investigating or not investigating is a test for Cheng Su either way.

If the investigation yields a cruel truth, she might not be able to bear it.

But if she doesn’t investigate, her abandonment at the orphanage will remain an eternal mystery, a riddle in her life, never to be solved. Is that really what she wants?

Will Cheng Su really choose to be an ostrich?

Qi Taiguo said she must be brave. Some things may not turn out as hoped, but when you know you will lose and still persist, that is bravery.

Knowing you may lose, but hoping for a miracle to appear, for that slim chance of victory.

So Cheng Su decided to take the step; regardless of the truth, she has to solve this mystery, or she will regret it forever.

”Find this person, I want to meet him personally,” Cheng Su said through gritted teeth.

Cheng Yaozu replied, ”This person’s identity is a hitman, always elusive. And in such bloodthirsty tasks, if the mission fails, no one knows if he dies. So whether we find him or not, you must be mentally prepared.”

Cheng Su nodded. If it truly is like this, and they can’t find him, it’s fate, meant for her not to unravel this mystery in her lifetime.

Seeing her determination, Cheng Yaozu put the photo in his pocket and said, ”I really don’t know what’s in your mind, what you’re hiding.”

Cheng Su smiled without speaking, her smile appeared bitter to Cheng Yaozu, and he refrained from asking further, merely sighed in his heart.

After staying at the Cheng family for a day, Cheng Su left, as she had to go to Zhu City early with Qi Xiaoqi tomorrow.

Once she left, Old Master Cheng called his youngest son to the study for a talk, still asking about Cheng Su.

”The girl seemed heavy-hearted all day today. What’s going on? Is the shop’s business not flourishing? What did she say to you?”

The old master was deeply concerned about this goddaughter, having shifted all his affection for his little sister onto her.

Of course, Cheng Yaozu wouldn’t hide it from the old master and disclosed Cheng Su’s adoption matters and her requests.

As expected, the old master frowned upon hearing this.

”What’s your take on this?” he asked his youngest son.

Cheng Yaozu replied, ”She insists on investigating, so we’ll investigate. It’s just... her intentions are hard to guess.”

Being so keen on an adopted child’s matter without any personal relation, it indeed seems strange to outsiders.

Old Master Cheng paced back and forth in the study, saying, ”Since she doesn’t want to speak, just leave it be. If she wants to investigate, help her find out.”

Fully accommodating every request of Cheng Su.

Cheng Yaozu had anticipated this outcome and nodded, ”It looks like Ning Ge has some special connections. He asked me to hand over this person’s information to him.”

More people make work easier. Ning Ge is willing to help, which is more than beneficial.

”That’s fine. Two families working together cast a wider net,” Old Master Cheng nodded, ”But remember, once you find this person, do you know what to do next?”

Cheng Yaozu laughed, ”We will definitely verify first before letting her meet him.”

A hitman—recklessly letting Cheng Su interact with him, what if something goes wrong?

Old Master Cheng relaxed his frown, thinking about the child Cheng Su adopted. After some thought, he said, ”Make time to see that child?”

It’s unclear what kind of child could capture her attention so profoundly; there must be some reason.

Cheng Yaozu agreed, and seeing the old master had no further instructions, he proceeded to his own affairs.
