Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1772: Chapter 1773: Seafood Shop

In the days that followed, Cheng Su left Xiao Qi and her mother at the Cheng family’s place. First, with more people, there were more conversations and mutual care, and secondly, to keep Old Master Cheng company.

Cheng Su felt that the Old Master seemed to have aged and was feeling lonely, so having Xiao Qi around was like having some emotional support.

As for herself, she was all over the place for the Seafood Shop; running errands, busy selecting goods, setting up the shop, and recruiting staff—she wished she could be two people.

At the end of June, many schools had already started their holidays, and Cheng Su’s uncle, Qi Jianguo, was also on vacation. Just in time to help her out, he heard Cheng Su was hiring, so he dragged a classmate over to work as a summer job at the shop.

That classmate’s name was Yu Qingjiu, a cheerful and straightforward girl studying fashion design. Her family was from the Northeast, and they were poor, so she stayed for the summer holiday to find a job and earn some living expenses.

Cheng Su heard she had been doing this for several semesters. In her freshman year, she even helped sell clothes.

”My shop is a Seafood Shop, not a clothing store. Can you handle it?” Cheng Su asked Yu Qingjiu.

Yu Qingjiu laughed and said, ”Sis, it’s all sales. Why wouldn’t I manage? Once I remember the prices and origins, and read some materials, it will be fine. How about I do a trial for three days without salary, just feed me, and you can decide?”

This cheerful attitude made Cheng Su smile, and she said, ”Alright, let’s see what you can do.” Anyway, she needed more hands now that the shop was opening, and considering her uncle, she felt obliged to help.

Seeing Cheng Su agree, Yu Qingjiu beamed with joy; her short student haircut was tucked behind her ear as she glanced around and quickly fetched a rag to clean the glass cabinets and tidy everywhere up.

Cheng Su seized the moment to pull Qi Jianguo aside and whispered, ”Tell me honestly, is she someone you like?”

Qi Jianguo turned beet-red, exclaiming, ”Sis! What are you saying? We’re just classmates—not like you think!”

He was speaking while glancing at Yu Qingjiu.

Cheng Su could see through his little thoughts and said, ”Stop pretending. I understand young men with budding feelings.”

Qi Jianguo nearly stamped his foot like a girl, wanting to argue, but Cheng Su didn’t give him the chance, smiling as she walked away.

With Yu Qingjiu working the summer job and Qi Jianguo helping out, Cheng Su could spare some time for other tasks. She posted the recruitment notice, hiring two more people, both locals, middle-aged women who spoke fluent Cantonese and were quite forthright.

Cheng Su copied the identity information of the two and, when the goods arrived, led a group of them to stock and display the items.

After several busy days, the shop finally started to look like a Seafood Shop; upon entering, there were tall shelves on both sides, the right one was a glass cabinet, the centerpiece was a display table full of seafood, fish maw, shark fin, etc., neatly labeled with price, origin, and specifications on little paper cards.

The pricier items were placed in glass cabinets, and those requiring cold storage were kept in a large freezer, with a variety clearly shown.

Near the entrance was the cashier counter, adorned with a Fortune Cat and a pot of verdant Four Seasons Bamboo.

More goods were stored in the warehouse. Cheng Su stood at the shop entrance, arms crossed contentedly, thinking the next step was to choose an auspicious day for opening.
