The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1403: Chapter 1403: The Person Behind Mrs. Gordon Has Been Found

He seemed to know who that number belonged to, lowering his eyelids and looking down with cold eyes.

The text message was extremely concise, containing only one line: [Cubicle Group, Quarles Family].

Cubicle Group, Quarles Family.

This answer was somewhat unexpected.

Amadeus Yancey had his hand on his leg, casually raising his fingers—a habit when he was thinking.

He had people investigate who was instructing Mrs. Gordon behind the scenes, and unexpectedly, tracing it down led to the Cubicle Group and the Quarles Family.

Cubicle Group?

This result was somewhat surprising.

But the Cubicle Group always had some Illegal Zone background, although the background was average and not considered a prominent power in the Illegal Zone.

The Quarles Family’s power was mainly overseas, in regions like the Middle East.

After reading the text message, Amadeus Yancey turned off the phone, looked up, and asked Brian Bonette, who was reading a book: ”Is there anyone related to the Cubicle Group in this competition?”

”Why did you suddenly ask this?” Brian Bonette put down the book with a surprised look, thought for a bit, furrowed his brow, looked at him, and slowly said, ”Seems like there isn’t...”

Halfway through his words, he suddenly remembered something, frowned again, corrected himself: ”No, there is one person.”

”Who?”

Amadeus Yancey’s face was lean, sitting in a lazy, casual posture, but his restrained dark eyes were sharp as if they could see through people’s hearts.

Seeing his serious expression, Brian Bonette picked up the water on the table, took a sip, paused, then shared what he knew.

”No one special, you have heard of the person, someone from Mundania, named Maxcel.”

Amadeus Yancey’s movements paused for only a second, then he returned to normal, placing the water back, his rose-colored thin lips pursed, saying meaningfully: ”Maxcel?”

”That’s him.” Brian Bonette pressed his own brow and said earnestly: ”You forgot, during The Ninth Institute’s recruitment, I mentioned this person to you; his ability in computer science is stronger than Phoebe Hoffman. At that time, I suggested whether to recruit him, but you refused. Later, this Maxcel joined Cubicle Group, becoming part of it.”

Amadeus Yancey’s slightly cool fingertips tapped on the back of his hand, his eyes slightly squinted.

Brian Bonette didn’t know what he was thinking, thought for a bit, then said: ”Actually, Maxcel wasn’t really part of Cubicle Group; to be precise, Cubicle Group had been privately sponsoring him these past two years. He was mainly helping the Quarles Family with some research in the chip field.”

”His research was actually quite successful. You remember, at that time, Cubicle Group even took their latest developed chip to the Illegal Zone to exhibit.”

Brian Bonette raised an eyebrow, said with a hint of a smile: ”Who knew both he and Cubicle Group would be unlucky. Our country developed a chip similar to theirs. Cubicle Group spent a lot of money and effort on that chip. They wanted the Red Alliance to judge, relying on its power to pressure the IT association, falsely accusing us of plagiarism. In the end, the Red Alliance suddenly stopped helping them and stood by us instead.”

”I know about this!” Sadam Vinson and Govert Griffin, who had been eavesdropping, found a chance to chime in. Sadam Vinson hastily interjected to find his place: ”I was in the Illegal Zone at the time.”

Unfortunately, Brian Bonette ignored him and continued slowly in an unhurried tone: ”After that incident, Cubicle Group was severely damaged, and their capital chain had problems, almost going bankrupt. Charles Quarles sought many contacts to no avail... Later on, I don’t know what he did, but Cubicle Group dangerously overcame that crisis and recently regained stability.”
