Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 492: Chapter 492: The Vicious Mother-in-Law 38

After the meal, everyone was happy except Ma Xiangling, who was sullen. However, her bad mood didn’t affect her appetite, as she consumed half of the plate of braised pork.

Over the past six months, thanks to Yuan Chun, the Ma Family had meat to eat every few days, and Ma Xiangling’s palate had been spoiled, always wanting to eat meat.

But after marrying into the Han Family, Ma Xiangling realized that city people didn’t eat meat every day either. They only received two ounces of meat tickets per month, and the Han family seniors only received four ounces.

The other members of the Han Family kept their meat tickets for the cafeteria, to treat themselves occasionally, and never bought meat to eat at home.

Therefore, her parents-in-law’s four ounces of meat tickets only allowed them to eat meat for two meals.

With a dozen people eating two ounces of meat, Ma Xiangling could only get a taste of the meat, without even getting a piece of the fatty skin.

In recent days, she had been craving it badly.

Qian Hongmei, seeing her devouring the food, felt a bit sorry for her sister-in-law and picked up her chopsticks, placing several pieces of roe deer meat in her bowl, ”Sister-in-law, this is roe deer meat, try it, it’s even better than rabbit meat.”

It was indeed delicious.

So delicious that Ma Xiangling forgot about Yuan Chun’s disdain for her.

She blurted out, ”Mom, do we have any more roe deer meat at home? Could you braise some for me to take back?”

Why braise it?

Because Ma Xiangling didn’t want the Han Family to enjoy it.

She intended to take it home and eat it all by herself.

Yuan Chun raised an eyebrow and smiled, ”Roe deer meat is tastier than pork and is hard to come by. If you want to eat it, that’s fine, bring money to buy it. Considering you’re my daughter, I’ll charge you two yuan per pound, no tickets needed. How many pounds do you want?”

Ma Xiangling’s face immediately turned red, ”Mom, I’m your daughter, and you have the nerve to charge me?”

”Why wouldn’t I? Even among family, accounts should be clear. You can’t expect me to subsidize your cravings now that you’re married off.”

While speaking, Yuan Chun gave Han Conghui a meaningful glance.

Han Conghui put down his chopsticks and smiled, ”Mother-in-law, Xiangling was wrong. How can we ask you to subsidize us? This roe deer meat is indeed delicious. If you can get it for me, I won’t let you suffer any loss.”

”Well, my son-in-law understands. Whatever amount you want, I can get it for you,” Yuan Chun said with a grin.

With money coming directly, Yuan Chun was not going to refuse.

Han Conghui was slightly moved, ”Mother-in-law, I’d like twenty pounds of roe deer meat.”

Ten pounds for gifts, as he’s been in this position for three years and wanted to move up. There was just a vacancy opening after the New Year.

Yuan Chun wasn’t shy, reaching out her hand, ”Pay first, and you’ll have the meat by the time you leave this afternoon.”

Han Conghui obediently handed over the money.

After the meal, Yuan Chun went out for a while, and two hours later, she returned with a backpack containing a freshly killed roe deer.

The roe deer wasn’t very big, weighing only thirty to forty pounds, leaving twenty to thirty pounds of meat after removing skin and entrails.

Seeing a whole roe deer, Han Conghui was eager, ”Mother-in-law, I want the whole roe deer.”

With that, he pulled out another twenty yuan.

Luckily, he had a habit of carrying money with him, and he hadn’t given all of his year-end bonus and salary to Ma Xiangling before the New Year.

Ma Xiangling had asked him about his salary, but he only gave her five yuan for pocket money, and no matter how much she asked afterward, he didn’t give her any more.
