Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 488: Chapter 488: Vicious Mother-in-Law 34

Han Laosan’s wife said, ”Second sister-in-law, what have you made here? These dishes are almost burnt to a crisp, how can you still dare to serve them for us to eat?”

Ma Xiangling shrugged innocently, ”I haven’t cooked before, it’s already good enough that I managed to make something edible. This is my first time cooking; not even my mom has tasted my cooking before. You all are quite lucky today.”

”Haha, lucky? More like starving. I’m about to die of hunger, forget it, I’m not eating at home.” Han Laosan threw his chopsticks onto the table and got up to leave.

Mrs. Han shouted, ”Laosan, how will you have energy to work if you don’t eat breakfast?”

”I’m not eating, I’m afraid I’ll end up killing myself.”

The door opened and then slammed shut with a bang.

Han Laosan’s voice disappeared outside the door.

”Mom, I’m not eating either. The children have weak stomachs, and we can’t let them eat this. But it’s too late to cook anything else now, I’ll take them out for a bite to eat and let them come back by themselves afterward.” First Madam Han put down her chopsticks and said to the children, ”Xiao Qiang, Xiao Ying, come on, I’ll take you kids to the State-owned Restaurant for some spicy bean sprout buns.”

”Oh, we get to eat spicy buns, I want to eat spicy buns.”

”I’ll go get my school bag.”

”Mom, I want two spicy buns.”

”Aunt, I also want two spicy buns.”

”Alright, alright, each of you will have two.” First Madam Han responded kindly to the five children.

After First Madam Han and the children went to school, Mr. Han also lost his appetite, ”You all eat, I’m heading to work.”

”Old man, have some vegetable soup before you go, this soup looks pretty good.” Mrs. Han said.

Ma Xiangling weakly explained, ”Mom, that’s stir-fried cabbage, but the cabbage has too much water, and I added a bit more water, just... just added too much.”

Mrs. Han glared at her in fury, ”Shut up, is there a place for you to speak? Look at the dishes you made, who’s brave enough to eat them?”

”Second daughter-in-law, are you retaliating because I woke you up early to cook? Let me tell you, even if you make poison, you still have to get up at six every day to cook for us.”

Ma Xiangling felt so wronged that she was in tears, ”Mom, we’re all daughters-in-law, why don’t the eldest sister-in-law and third brother’s wife cook, only me? I’m not satisfied.”

”Not satisfied? You better keep it to yourself. You don’t have a job, so you’re just an idle person. Do you think you shouldn’t cook? Do you want me, your mother-in-law, to cook for you?”

Ma Xiangling pursed her lips and snapped back, ”So what if I’m unemployed? Cong Hui will support me, I don’t need anyone else. Why should I serve them?”

”You... you...”

Mrs. Han was so angry she tilted backward, but Eldest Han supported her, ”Mom, just let it go. The daughter-in-law is being immature; in the future, teach her slowly with patience.”

”Oh my, what I married is not a daughter-in-law, but a living ancestor.”

Wan Meihua covered her face and started bawling.

Han Conghui raised his hand and slapped Ma Xiangling across the face with a loud smack.

Han Conghui angrily said, ”Ma Xiangling, what’s wrong with you? Can you really not cook? Look at how angry you made my mom. If anything happens to my mom, I’ll divorce you and send you back to your family.”

Frightened, Ma Xiangling held her face, not daring to say a word.

Mrs. Han, seeing her son vent her anger, stopped crying too. She threatened Ma Xiangling fiercely, ”Second daughter-in-law, I warn you, if you make undercooked rice or burn the dishes again, I’ll make you eat them all by yourself.”

Ma Xiangling, feeling completely wronged, had tears brimming in her eyes, ”I understand, Mom, I... I’ll try harder to learn to cook.”
